I could be totally wrong but could someone clarify that for me please?

 

It depends what week, of course, but if the physical was released the same week as the download, then I remember someone saying she still wouldn't have got #1. iirc, that week she debuted behind Kickstarts, Wavin' Flag and Shout.

 

She might've made it if it was the other way around though (I think she was up against Airplanes and California Gurls that week).

It's strange with Nicki. She seems so famous and well-known, even in the UK, but then you look at her chart positions and you're like. :nocheer:

 

Yeah, can't believe she's never had a number one! :o She almost did in the form of Bedrock, but that peaked at #2 in the US.

 

Her album got to #1 in the US though. I remember it was released the same time as Kanye West's album, and the two albums had some of the highest first-week sales over there, so it was a shame that they were up against each other, but Nicki narrowly lost out, and then started falling. I thought she'd lost her chance, then Moment 4 Life caused it to go to #1 a few months later! :o

I don't mind Guetta guetting another number one, but please wait a week so that LMFAO can get 4 weeks. ;) Like I said earlier Guetta should have been no.1 with WTC which is a much better song than WTGA. If only original dance acts like Alex Metric & Steve Angello who are released next week could get number one, they are destined to flop because they have a cr**py vocal mix and they're not popular :(

 

It would be good if Nicki gets more popular here however, GFLD desrved at least top 20 and she's underrated here. That girl can really rap and she needs a top 10 single in her name sometime this year :D She sadly missed out with 'Check It Out' :cry:

I wouldn't say Nicki is my favourite rapper though. I think the best at the moment (i.e. last year) is B.o.B. He's SUPER talented, and he's really different to all the other rappers. My favourite overall is Eminem, but that's mainly because I liked him when I was younger. I love Tinie Tempah a lot at the moment too, but more for the beats he has on his songs than his actual lyrics and rapping skills.

Then again, it could just be them being similar types of tracks and at similar times of year. It's just a feeling, that once it was deposed at #1, there would be little else keeping it up.
