Looks like I'm one of the only ones not pleased with the result then?

His terribly annoying laugh would've been reason alone for me to fire him (if I were in Lord Sugar's position ofc) weeks ago.

It SO should've been Susan. Glad it looks like she might get the chance to join Tom's business with her skincare range (as mentioned on 'You're Hired', although I doubt it will actually ever happen).

I'm really not looking forward to not seeing the complete fitty that is Helen every Wednesday night from now on. :(

LOL you actually had a straightboy crush on HELEN of all people?!

She was no Sandeesh/Paloma now was she? :D

PALOMA.

Complete idiot though.

TOM? TOM? Sure, he's LIKEABLE, but he's a businessman for people who don't like businessmen. And don't get me STARTED on everyone and their Shoat going WILD and MELTING rubbishgai for him in a series when we have WALKING IRISH CLICHÉ Jim *.*

The Justice4Edna campaign shall continue. Susan can have the odd guest spot, but I imagine she's likely to make it on her own anyway.

I think the right person won last night. One does wonder though if he'd been selected right from the beginning. Sugar must have known about Tom's intellectual property - otherwise I really can't see anyone surviving quite so many boardroom appearances only to go on and win.

With regard to the best series - I've watched it from day one and without doubt the first series was the best. This was when it was at its most genuine and not filled with people who only really 'wanted to be on the telly'. I wish someone had put Paul Toresi's QVE vaccuum cleaner demonstration on youtube for people to watch. I actually loved all four in the final of that series - Paul, Tim (eventual winner), James and the gorgeous and funny Saira Khan.

The Margaret face palm returned

Right winner I feel, Helen just about put a gun to her head and fired the trigger when she basically said she didn't believe in her business plan, but lets open a Greggs!

I really think now Tom was the right person even though Helen is incredible.
Just finished watching the You're Hired! hour, having skipped vile Jim. Helen looked STUNNING. And I almost DIED laughing at that firemen moment.
And it also wipes out his justification for firing Helen, which was based solely on her business plan. If he was willing to disregard Tom's original plan, then maybe he SHOULD have just gone into partnership with Helen and done the same for her. I like Tom but I can't even pretend that he was a better contestant than her.

Having thought about this today, surely there is more justification for going with Tom. They're still using the chair but are going to continue developing the file too. This gives Tom not one but two better projects than Helen, because the one she presented was totally useless and her desperate attempt at proposing a bakery, could work, yes. But it's an incredibly saturated market, bakeries are absolutely everywhere and there are numerous chains. If there's a space to put one, it's been taken. It would have to be something special to compete with what's already out there.

I think if he hadn't already made up his mind, their two performances in the boardroom did. Helen was cheap and desperate, Tom proved that despite his failings he can do it and he has done it. He's already done what Lord Sugar is investing in, he had to pick him.

It's just a massive shame that the 11 weeks previous essentially meant nothing.

That result really threw me, and here is Sandeesh to show us how I reacted.

Wrong result in my opinion, I was convinced Susan had it right up until he fired her. Helen's idea sucked and her making up some $h!t about biscuits in the end just shot herself in the foot. Jim never stood a chance anyway but from what it came across, Susan's idea was the only workable one. Heck even Queen Margaret seemed to like her.

IT'S SO UNFAIR.

Helen trying to show human emotion was painful viewing aswell. As was the fake elevator guy.

SANDEESH!!!

pretty much agree with all of this

Out of all of them, Helen had the worst business plan. A concierge service?! Oh please! You need to be loaded to have one of those.

The process is deeply flawed in my opinion. Helen was robbed (Even though her idea was kinda $h!t) She appeared on OKTV today and she said she was back at Greggs and hoping for a promotion, How could Alan Sugar let her go?!

Basically they should test all candidates business ideas at the beginning to see who gets to go through the process. As it is people like Helen will be just wasting their time in the future. Also all the ideas were $h!t. Disappointing end to the series.

I do think they should have renamed this particular series 'Lord Sugar's Dragon's Den' as it was all about inventions and investment - the tasks leading up to the 'final' were not relevant - they just provided a 'light entertainment show'. A good one mind - but as the winner had obviously been picked prior to the start of the show - a bit of a fraud really.

What a joke. Tom winning? There are actually no winning qualities to the man, sure he got lucky with the nail file, as an old teacher of mine said the more $h!t you throw at the wall the more sticks. He is just a crazy "inventor", rattling of random ideas. Anyone could do that really. He failed most tasks and Sugar himself called him the hindsight man. Seems he only hired him because he managed to get the nail file into Walmart.

Based on performance throughout the show it should have been Helen without a doubt! The way it turned out made all the previous weeks seem redundant! They all had pretty terrible business plans (Tom's maybe being the worst). It just made it feel like I was watching Dragons Den.

They should have involved the business plans earlier. Would have been interesting to see some of the other contestants ideas.

Also: Loved Michael McIntyre on You're Hired!

Tom should have won over Helen, but Susan should have won overall if you ask me.

I think it shows how the Apprentice is dying out, a contestant who won like 3/11 tasks on the coattails of others ends up winning :(

Out of all of them, Helen had the worst business plan. A concierge service?! Oh please! You need to be loaded to have one of those.

But lord Sugar is loaded! she should have told him with his contacts and her organisation skills she will make it big.

It still wont be a million pound company though

Tom was selected to win before the show even began airing. Clearly Sugar liked his idea and his creative mind as an inventor. However he was one of the weakest candidates on the show and most weeks he was on the losing team or brought back into the boardroom. I became skeptical a few weeks ago that he was going to win. Sugar had plenty of opportunities to fire him however he just gave him a light slap on the wrist and told him to learn from his mistakes. Mistakes that he continued to make and get away with.

It would be better for Sugar to go into business with someone like Tom anyway. Everything Sugar said Tom would nod his head and laugh extra hard at his jokes. He will be a great pushover for Sugar. Tom makes the products and Sugar profits from the sales. Other contestants like Melody, Jim and Zoe would have been alot harder for Sugar to control compared to someone like Tom.

If the show was based on the old format of selecting an employee then Helen would have won. However overall I am pleased she didn't win. I found her extremely smug. Out of the final 4 the only person I found likable was Susan.

Disappointing conclusion to a good series.

Tom was on the losing team a lot but that generally wasn't because of Tom, more despite Tom. He was right on the biscuits, he was right on the petfood, he was right on the France task, he was a LOT better than either Helen or Melody on the sale and reinvest task. On only one of those was he leader where he had a chance of getting his way but you can't blame him for not. He was outvoted by 3-1 including someone who had gone to France and told him that she'd discovered that Tom's preferred product was definitely not the correct one, he wasn't to know she was lying through her back teeth.
Indeed. Tom's issue was rarely that he was responsible for poor ideas or strategy (emergency biscuits aside), but that he wasn't confident enough in his own commercial awareness and too polite to put his foot down and enforce his views on his teammates.

Agree with Gary1 - the winner was decided before the series even began. The only turmoil for the producers was how to best-script it and make a decent drama.

I said earlier this was Dragon's Den - just not played on an even field.
