Posted May 3, 201114 yr Ok, well...... Does anyone here think that popular music is at an ALL TIME LOW??? :puke2: :arrr: Firstly, a lot of songs at the moment rip off another song from the year before, for example, Party Rock Anthem - We No Speak Americano, Lazy Song - Billionaire, On The Floor - Stereo Love, Sweat - One, I Can - Written In The Stars & Busy - Hey Soul Sister. Personally, I think music is getting really lazy and no one is trying to make an effort to record anything orginal. Secondly, the UK's No.1 right now is a bland, lame, boring & recycled pile of $hit which was probably made on the bloke's computer in about half an hour, whose only postitive thing is that it sounds pretty decent in a club, which all music sounds like right now (with the exception of Adele). I bet LMFAO must be L their FAO to the bank right now. Thirdly, all the songs in the chart at the moment (bar Someone Like You & Party Rock Anthem MAYBE) do not scream CLASSIC!!! This hasn't happened since February, I guess. Shows you how poor modern music is right now, dosen't it? Fourthly and finally, If Adele hadn't made 21, the album market this year so far would be  Does ANYONE disagree with what I've just posted????????? Edited May 3, 201114 yr by Griffo

May 3, 201114 yr The indefinite article is 'an' when the following word starts with a vowel sound. SORT IT OUT.
May 3, 201114 yr but there's no way of telling which songs will become classics as they've only just been released, wait at least a year, and look how songs have aged and no I don't think pop music is at an all time low, whats popular is popular- there are many people who love LMFAO and are 'shuffling' all day plus sales have been generally very good- J-Lo and Bruno Mars got six figure opening week totals, which is very impressive
May 3, 201114 yr Oh don't be sodding ridiculous. This same thread could've been made any time in the last ten years and it would've been no less cynical or wrong.

May 3, 201114 yr Tirrun's prediction of next notoriously annoying member aimed at Griffo was correct? :o This kid is meant to be 14 btw, not being funny but how can he compare now to a period from say 10 years ago? Plus his favourite album of all time is 21, so the post is a bit ironic...
May 3, 201114 yr Oh don't be sodding ridiculous. This same thread could've been made any time in the last ten years and it would've been no less cynical or wrong. OK, sorry. I just feel like pop music isn't up to standards at the moment. Though maybe I shouldn't have worded it THAT harshly.

Maybe I was a bit too harsh. :P It's a bit weird that you look at my posts especially when I'm not an established member. I don't mind though! Edited May 3, 201114 yr by Griffo

May 3, 201114 yr We're not going to ignore you just because you're not an established member... Well, I won't anyway, I'll read your posts as much as one from anyone else in this thread, or on the forum. The point of you (or anyone) posting is for people to read, reply and discuss. whether they agree or disagree with you)
May 3, 201114 yr BTW, before anyone says this I'm NOT a troll , just explaining my unpopular opinion. :drama:
May 3, 201114 yr To be honest Griffo, if you had said this back in February (or even February/March in 2010), I would've possibly agreed with you. I was having similar thoughts to you a couple of months ago, but I'm quite liking the charts now. They've improved a lot in recent weeks imo. About songs "ripping" each other off, I think the nature of people on this forum, we notice things like that more. For example, my little sister can't tell that California Gurls and Tik Tok are similar, and that's probably one of the closest resemblances between two songs we've have in recent times. I do agree, lots of songs sound very similar to other songs, but I think if you took a chart from x years ago, you could do the same. Also, I think part of it is to do with what genres you like. I don't like heavy metal, hence I barely listen to it, a lot of the songs, literally, sound exactly the same to me. Someone who doesn't like RnB will probably have similar thoughts about the RnB songs in the chart. And I'm sure fans of heavy metal music can easily tell the difference between the songs, just like I can tell the difference between chart RnB songs. Edited May 3, 201114 yr by Eric_Blob
May 3, 201114 yr It's just natural to think that the music (and basically everything) was better last week, last month, last year, last decade.
May 3, 201114 yr It's just natural to think that the music (and basically everything) was better last week, last month, last year, last decade. Yeah, your brain is 'programmed' to be nostalgic so you'll naturally think new things aren't as good as old things.
