That is a good playlist from 2005, lots of my favourite songs of that year on the A-List.

The indie-rock additions this week aren't so bad, at least they're from established acts like Foo Fighters and The Wombats who some of the public will have heard of.

There do seem to be a lot of better songs being ignored, however. They should really try and do a mix of all genres. There are a few additions from the last few weeks which, despite A/B-List status, won't get anywhere.

I'm glad you agree with me, I think 2005 was a blackhole for chart music in the 00s. Dance music was in the gutter, and I dont like a single one of them on this playlist. Except Royksopp, but that's more chillout. Indie stuff I generally hate, the R&B stuff was just spewing utter rubbish back then, with the odd gem surfacing (ala 1 Thing), and pop music seemed to be going into the MOR territory...

I definitely agree with that, two words sum up early 2005 for me, Elvis re-releases. The fact that they all went top five, some to #1, showed that the charts were in a horrendous state - imo the poor sales reflected the quality of the music quite well. I did actually buy So Many Times on single, albeit once it had gone cheap - it's not a huge favourite of mine but it was nice enough. Max Graham, Bodyrockers etc... were awful imo. All I can remember really loving from the first half of 2005 is KT Tunstall, Missy Higgins, Natalie Imbruglia, Mariah's Emancipation of Mimi album and a couple of Eurovision songs - although even Eurovision was crap that year. It had a good winner in Helena Paparizou but I can't say I 'loved' more than 1 or 2 of the other entries.

Oh FFS :( No Dirty Talk again!!! <_< One of the best dance-pop songs on the last few years (imo of course) and $h!tty R1 decide to ignore it!!!! Also thought Dev would be C-List tbh, plus wtf at Ellie being gone already! :(
Lol you picked my least favourite year for music, ever :P

And 1 Thing, In The Morning, Blue Orchid, Signs, Shot You Down, Decent Days and Nights, Other Side of the World, Ordinary People, Forever Lost, Diamonds From Sierra Leone - all AMAZING songs!! Great playlist :D

I agree with the complaints that 2005 wasn't a banner year in terms of variety, with mostly only urban and indie/rock dominating, but still in terms of number of absolute tunes it was an great year for charts IMO. But I guess this is the difference of opinion from dance/pop fans, to someone who likes both the genres that were doing well in 2005 (although I can admit that popular R&B was much better pre-2005 than it was before, but it definitely wasn't as bad as it is now, for example).

Delighted Nicole Scherzinger - Right There. Seems like they have ignored the 50cent version though!

No Alexis Jordan :(

Decent playlist from 2005 imo. I love like half of the A-List! :o Can't say the same for this week's A-List (it's not dreadful though). :(

My retro rate in smilies: (crossed out songs are those I don't know or have forgotten)

^^ Most of them average but some good songs there

Disapointed that Alexandra Stan hasn't moved up but great to see Wiz Khalifa on the up. Strange to see Dev only on 1-Upfront especially as it's got R1's favourite Tinie Tempah, but the same happened with Like A G6 which also has Dev in it. I haven't heard the new SHM song in HD, only live version. Why is R1 ignoring Dirty Talk, it's a big hit waiting to happen (same with David Guetta but he's gone number one on iTunes on name alone)

I only think 2005 was bad in the first part- other than that, there were some modern classics that came out of that year, and genuinely incredibly varied :D

Oasis - Lyla -_-

Don't worry, I love Lonely too!!!

You don't like Lyla though!? :o These days I feel like I'm the only one who still likes it (I know I'm not really). :(

Lyla is too average indie landfill for me, The Importance of Being Idle $h!t$ all over it imo

Ugh. I hated The Importance of Being Idle. :( I have no desire to listen to that ever again (although I still get treated to it once in a while ).

Alright, time to do this properly:

A-List

Akon - Lonely  Another Lonely fan here. The backing vocals have a strange charm to them.

Amerie - 1 Thing - Alright, I guess.

The Black Eyed Peas - Don't Phunk With My Heart - Better than My Humps, imo. Not one of their strongest however.

Bodyrockers - I Like The Way -

Coldplay - Speed of Sound

Destiny's Child - Girl - Don't remember these two, but I feel I should, so I'm including them.

Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc. -

The Killers - Smile Like You Mean It - Same as Coldplay and DC.

Oasis - Lyla - Fair, I guess, but I prefer The Importance of Being Idle

Snoop Dogg featuring Justin Timberlake - Signs

B-List

Green Day - Wake Me Up When September Ends -

Charlotte Church - Crazy Chick - Good, I guess.

I admit that most of these have been remembered from the 2005 game. I don't remember a whole lot else.

Yay! :cheer: We should get all the Lonely fans and then start a group and go into hiding! :D

OMG, they are crazy. No Blue, no David Guetta, Alexandra Stan still C-listed. <_<

I think Nicole might do ok, but it's such a terrible choice of a single. I think only SHM stand a chance to go top10 from those added. Vaccines, Wombats and PATD will bomb obviously.

I would also say that the wombats, vaccines and PATD (possibly) albums will sell much more than the scherzinger and SHM albums though!!
