May 5, 201115 yr I definitely agree with that, two words sum up early 2005 for me, Elvis re-releases. The fact that they all went top five, some to #1, showed that the charts were in a horrendous state - imo the poor sales reflected the quality of the music quite well. I did actually buy So Many Times on single, albeit once it had gone cheap - it's not a huge favourite of mine but it was nice enough. Max Graham, Bodyrockers etc... were awful imo. All I can remember really loving from the first half of 2005 is KT Tunstall, Missy Higgins, Natalie Imbruglia, Mariah's Emancipation of Mimi album and a couple of Eurovision songs - although even Eurovision was crap that year. It had a good winner in Helena Paparizou but I can't say I 'loved' more than 1 or 2 of the other entries. sales were bad because 2004/05 were the changeover years when downloads hadnt quite taken over from cds yet!! the quality wasn't too bad!!singles sales didnt recover until late 2007 with bleeding love rule the world symbolising the recovery of sales - couldnt believe it that october week with 218k for leona and 98k for take that!!
May 5, 201115 yr What did you think of the Israeli entry in 2005 to Eurovision? My favorite Slightly off topic, but I guess I took it off in the first place! It was beautiful, one the other '1 or 2 songs that I love' which I was referring to - the remaining one was Switzerland -> Vanilla Ninja - Cool Vibes
May 5, 201115 yr I would also say that the wombats, vaccines and PATD (possibly) albums will sell much more than the scherzinger and SHM albums though!! SHM's last 'album' turned out to be a compilation of solo stuff from the 3 members plus the two new singles so it didn't chart on the albums chart. And the other 4 albums are all out already. P!ATD flopped. The Vaccines did alright but Nicole has probably sold more than them (and if she hasn't I'm sure she will in the long run). The Wombats have only been out a week but I highly doubt they'll outsell Nicole either. Edited May 5, 201115 yr by Bray
