May 12, 201114 yr I agree with those that say it should stay on Radio 1 but Reggie needs to go. He is the main reason I don't listen to it much because he's just so annoying and smug.
May 12, 201114 yr I don't have a problem with the chart being on Radio 1 but the format should be changed and a better presenter is a must! Reggie is an entertaining presenter and has his place and audience but I don't think it's for the Top 40. He just doesn't take it very seriously and, when listening to him, he doesn't really seem to care. Often he doesn't even confirm if a track's climbed or dropped. I prefer the format where earlier presenters eg. Tommy Vance, Bruno Brookes or Mark Goodier (Showing my age again) would play the Top 40, giving concise chart details and information about the artist and songs without having to resort to the likes of the cringy chart numbers game or the general pratting around! Nothing worse than when you look at the clock and realise it's around 8 minutes since the last track was played.
May 12, 201114 yr Reggie is a fairly good presenter but he clearly doesn't even care about the chart, not sure why they even let him have the job in the first place. I think it would be a really bad idea to move to a different station but a new host would be nice.
May 12, 201114 yr Haven't listened since that THING Reggie took over and I did listen every week beforehand - even through the dreaded JK & Joel apocalypse. I could at least tolerate them in small doses. I just get the chart offline afterwards. A new host would be fine, but tbh I don't think they need to fill it wwith stats etc. The audiences for buying music and following the charts has changed drastically due to downloads. They should play the whole top 40, keep out the games and sack Reggie Yates yus. Edited May 12, 201114 yr by GrAmii
May 12, 201114 yr Surely, no? I think it's a waste of time to find another suitable radio station to host the charts. Radio 1 is the only place to be IMO. If OCC has to find another radio station, it's only for them/it to announce the Top 40 and play the Top 10/5 or the #1? But I don't care at the same time (which I voted).
May 12, 201114 yr All I know is, if he had played that "Who's going to Number One" shriek one more effing time last week, I would have thrown my laptop trough the window.

Get rid of Reggie and replace with Greg James, maybe play all 40 records and cut out the competitions. I too just get the info online these days. Although i do listen when Greg is standing-in.
May 12, 201114 yr To be fair, Heart FM somehow manage to play the Big Top 40 Show (and ironically there's more variety in that than the rest of the music they play put together, and that's really saying something!!!). But the chart is made up as they go along.
May 13, 201114 yr I think Reggie is unsuitable for the chart show. As people have said he doesn't take it seriously - he's an OK presenter generally but NOT for the chart, he improved a bit when it was just him instead of him and Fearne (who is actually good but not on the chart show) but these days he isn't very good at all, especially with all the gimmicks like the celebrity chart numbers - absolute crap, a 20-second Q&A with the next artist (like they sometimes did in Goodier's time) would be much better. Wes Butters and yes even JK and Joel were better than Reggie - less annoying features and in those days they focused on the albums, which was annoying as they didn't play the 40 singles, but at least they were playing music! Only including the top 5 albums is really irritating, as is Reggie constantly hyping who the guests are (and thus often making it obvious from the start that the guest will be #1) - I mean, I doubt very much that many people listen to the chart show for the guests - it's either a casual listen because it's Radio 1, or obviously chart-watchers. Ideally we'd have Goodier back but from the current R1 presenters, Zane Lowe, Edith Bowman or possibly Greg James would be better. Jo Whiley has gone to Radio 2 for the album chart show - she would actually have been a good choice, but of course she'd never get a look-in. EDIT: Scott Mills would be OK too.
