I don't see any other country then UK liking Ireland's entry (and UK won't vote tonight)

twitter is raving about Jedward... <_< so i don't know...

might be two things though:

1. all of those people are from UK and Ireland

2. Jedward final dress rehearsal just finished, so it's "fresh"

Probably both, I don't think people in Europe know Jedward, I didn't know about them hadn't I been on this forum.

I think if Israel go through it will simply becuase its dana international singing it, i was shocked it was such a weak song when i first heard it. Im not a Jedward fan but with the way things are going i think they are gona do well and will definitly sail through the semi final with ease even though i hate the song. Denmark and Sweden are the 2 i would love to see going through tonight and i think they will.

In bold are the 10 i think will qualify tonight:

01 / Bosnia & Herzegovina - Dino Merlin - Love In Rewind

02 / Austria - Nadine Beiler - The Secret Is Love

03 / Netherlands - 3JS - Never Alone

04 / Belgium - Witloof Bay - With Love Baby

05 / Slovakia - TWiiNS - I'm Still Alive cry.gif

06 / Ukraine - Mika Newton - Angel

07 / Moldova - Zdob Si Zdub - So Lucky

08 / Sweden - Eric Saade - Popular

09 / Cyprus - Christos Mylordos - San Aggelos S'Agapisa

10 / Bulgaria - Poli Genova - Na Inat

11 / Macedonia - Vlatko Llievski - Rusinka

12 / Israel - Dana International - Ding Dong

13 / Slovenia - Maja Keuc - No One

14 / Romania - Hotel FM - Change

15 / Estonia - Getter Jaani - Rockefeller Street

16 / Belarus - Anastasia Vinnikova - I Love Belarus

17 / Latvia - Musiqq - Angel In Disguise

18 / Denmark - A Friend In London - New Tomorrow

19 / Ireland - Jedward - Lipstick

I don't think most of Europe will understand the propaganda :P

It's catchy and tbh most of Europe don't understand English

Now that just isn't true! English is the most spoken language in Europe, it saves the Brits from learning a new language which they are far too busy claiming dole to learn and and it prevents the American's still getting over the shock of there being a world outside their own border [THE SHOCK, THE HORROR] from having heart attacks at there being languages other than 'american' [a.k.a. gang raped English]

I can't say three either

You can roll R's pronounce this beast: Ø, yet can't say 'th'

I WOULD LIKE THE FOLLOWING

If Sweden doesn't go through, I will CRY. Genuinely one of the best songs there, performed by the prettiest person in the competition. I would not cope.

Anyone wishing for a Moldovan qualification deserves to have their house BURNT TO THE GROUND. That is all.

So excited for tonight! The results will be shocking no doubt as any one of about 14 countries could qualify. Here's how I personally rank tonight's entries, with predicted qualifiers in bold:

08 / Sweden - Eric Saade - Popular

13 / Slovenia - Maja Keuc - No One

15 / Estonia - Getter Jaani - Rockefeller Street

12 / Israel - Dana International - Ding Dong

I think one of either Israel or Ireland will make it, or both of them over Austria or Cyprus. I think though that the juries and casual viewers will disregard Jedward more despite their good draw.

As far as Slovenia goes, I am also concerned. The main reason the song struck a chord with me initially was because of her outfit and the camera work. Sadly, she's ditched black for silver which isn't as striking. Fingers crossed the still shines through though!

Incase anyone is interested, here's how tonight's entrants rank in terms of previous success in semi finals:

01 Ukraine

02 Romania

03 Bosnia & Herzegovina

04 Moldova

05 Sweden

06 Denmark

07 Israel

08 FYR Macedonia

09 Ireland

10 Latvia

---

11 Cyprus

12 Belarus

13 Bulgaria

14 Slovenia

15 Netherlands

16 Estonia

17 Belgium

18 Slovakia

19 Austria

One person's pretty is another man's smash-face-in-with-a-hammer-able.

I was sure most Europeans don't understand English well... I mean most of Germany and France refuse to speak English! Maybe I'm wrong...

I say one, two, tree, four, five... without realize that I say tree and not three :P My boyfriend always stops me when I sing "one, two, seven, tree down the rockefeller street"

That man is WRONG.

I've been to both France and Germany and never had any problems. When I was in Portugal at the start of April everyone spoke really good English.

I find that European's, especially those this side of the Iron Curtain, speak really really really good English. Hell, when I was in Slovenia they spoke pretty good English too.

Grrrrr at the hairy chested one  Is that the lead singer?

I am VERY tempted to watch the live stream from the ESC website without Scott Mills' constant need to talk over everything, but my internet would probably die at the thought of it.

What's 'The Iron Curtain'?

i remember in Germany younger generation had no problem speaking English, older didn't know a word.

i guess it's similar in former USSR too. my parents generation was more about German (what? were they preparing spies or something? then why not for America-USSR cold war?)

my generation and later kids know English better. well "better" than theit parents who didn't know it at all  my parents were smart and got me to language school from 1st grade, even though it wasn't our school district. 20 some years later (10 of which were spent in America) my English is, actually, sometimes better than my Russian... lack of practice i guess...

the thing is... having studies foreign languages in Belarus (English and German) and in US (French, don't ask lol) i can see why former USSR are so bad... the approach is different. here (US) it's more about conversational language, breaking down mental barrier of being afraid to make a mistake. back there it's all about grammar and vocabulary that you don't ever use. i mean my final exam oral topic was Political situation in Great Britain... other options were Ecology in Belarus, Most prominent people of US, etc... come on! let's sit down and translate Queen songs for crying out loud!

What's 'The Iron Curtain'?

the divide between USSR and bourgeois and capitalistic plague of Europe and America

I thought Scott Mills was a decent commentator personally - it's not as if he was talking over the top of the performances or anything?
