May 17, 201114 yr Author Hello Rich. How are you? :D 1. Blue - I Can (1) (CR-3-2-2-2-1-1-1-1-1) Brilliant performance on Saturday. Thanks Jonjo, I'm good! 1. I really hope you're right, I'd love to see the UK to be a force to be reckoned with again, maybe this year was just a warm up for our sensational win next year :kink: 2. Completely agree, I much prefer it to anything else leaked so far from this era! I fail to see why she launched with the worst song as well  18. No idea! I always thought the bookies were being a bit generous with it as the second favourite for all those weeks but I thought low top ten at worst still  28. Yes, a rare appearance! This is a beautiful version :D 39. You and me both  Not too disappointed then, at least they blocked Italy from winning *shudders* 40. I completely agree, Black & Yellow was ok but a little repetitive... 65. Well it's completely different, it's Katy Perry type electropop so hard to compare  67. I finally downloaded her album! 75. Haha, I know what you mean, I can't see it climbing too much higher for me... Hey :D , my comments this week: 1. I definitely prefer this to Judas! 3. Yeah, I don't know what happened there - I thought she'd make Azerbaijan look weak, and I thought that she did to be honest, their vocal was very ropey following hers. Oh well, what do I know, they went on to win  4. See I was sure they would win, right up until after he performed. There was no buzz about it and it all seemed a little cold - that was when I thought, ok this isn't a winner  I certainly didn't expect it to miss the top ten though! 5. I'd predicted 5th for it (Sweden's standard place for a hit!) but I'm glad he did slightly better - proves that MF isn't completely worthless  10. Yeah it's really good! Likewise this, what the hell happened? 22. And me, although I've always had a soft spot for it, hence why it keeps on re-entering! 33. Just Radio 2 a-listing A Night Like This again to be honest, shame that can't be a hit single but I guess she was always going to be more of an albums artist here - still, the fact that she's charting it at all is good enough for me! 39. I completely agree - still at least they blocked Italy from a win, and you thought it couldn't get any worse than a France win - a sickening shock almost happened there  64. So do I actually, although this version is decent enough. I can't see him having a hit with it :(

We need to send someone special next year, big enough in the UK but relatively unknown in Europe (like those who enter Eurovision - Big in their homelands but not big enough to reach the UK) a song like 'I Can' and we're well away. 02. Ha! I definitely agree. BTW is still disappointing to me and it baffles me as to why she chose that over the likes of 'Judas', 'Hair' and 'Edge of Glory' as the lead singles. 65. Haha! Just listening now (it's amazing) and it's 3 minutes long!! Maybe we should send THIS next year? :kink: 67. So I see :D What do you think? Agreed, although I'm genuinely expecting the worst. I hope the BBC don't think 'well we've tried our best and can't come top ten so thats it'. Still, I'd prefer an amazing song over a known artist, it's not like Ell & Nikki are household names anywhere  2. Indeed, I still can't listen to the song. It came on when I was out clubbing last week and I left the dancefloor, as did most people  They all came roaring back for Gina G and hour or two later though. Ooh Aah...Just A Little Bit >>>>>> x 10,000,000 >>> Sweet 7 >> Born This Way 65. I think it's against the rules :( 67. It's good, but I don't 'love' it, there seems to be a fair bit of filler. I like all of the ones you picked out the most unsurprisingly
May 17, 201114 yr Hey Rich. Haven't commented for a long time but Here I Am :P 1. Blue - I Can (1) (CR-3-2-2-2-1-1-1-1-1)   Echo everyone with the disappointment that we just missed out on top 10 considering our fab start but we did beat France which was boring IMO and also I've worked out it's the UK's 3rd highest placing in Eurovision between 98-2011 coming after Jade and Jessica respectively so that's another good thing. 2. Lady Gaga - The Edge Of Glory (NEW) (CR-2) LOVE IT. My fave of her new material. This needs to go number 1 officially at some point. 3. Nadine Beiler - The Secret Is Love (7) (CR-3-1-2-6-7-4-5-5-5-6-7-3) Loved this. Very strong vocal performance 6. So do I actually, although this version is decent enough. I can't see him having a hit with it :( 02 - I looked at the deluxe edition, but figured that the standard version is sufficient enough for me. 03 - I thought that would be the case too, and even more so with Slovenia following it. This year's contest was certainly the least predictable since maybe 2001/2. 04 - I got the same feeling as Norway 2010, a general sense of being underwhelmed. What I also found very strange was the fact they used the most boring part of the song for the recap  05 - I thought his live vocal was dreadful, and I reckoned the lyrics would let him down also, but I guess the music and general staging of it helped far more than I expected it to. At least next year's MF should be good now! 13 - I thought it would, it was one of just two predictions I got spot on  . Eurovision is evolving like it did after Diva in 1998, only this time it's sadly leaving the uptempo pop numbers behind. In a couple of years, I think Eurovision will be one of the most contempory music events of the music calendar. 18 - I don't know! Maybe it was the dancers that did it? Or following Jedward and Eric? 33 - Definitely, I still can't quite get over the fact Radio 1 are completely ignoring her. 39 - I actually quite liked the Italian entry in the end, it sounded brilliant after France. But yes, it wouldn't have been a great winner  64 - Sadly not. They should give In The Club a big push here.

Oh I definitely agree, perhaps it's the effect of having such a close contest with no conclusive runaway hits...I mean I like the closeness of the results but not so overjoyed at the unpopular winner and crap popping up in the top five  5. The music, the staging, his looks  The amount of girls flooding Facebook and Twitter raving about him was insane! It proves once again, as did Ell & Nikki, that you do NOT need to put in a perfect vocal to deliver a song effectively. It's a song contest, not X Factor! 13. I know what you mean, although Popular's modern schlager imo - it seems like the pop will have to be more like that with a modern edge than the piano led Eurodance type schlager which is now old hat. 18. Yeah, I definitely don't think that the draw helped it one bit... 33. Really? I don't see why, she's not the sort of artist I'd have ever imagined them playing - especially when Radio 2 are lapping her up to compensate. The only Euro acts that make it onto the Radio 1 playlist are dance and indie artists. Not pop and certainly not jazz. 39. It's just not my cup of tea whatsoever, and would have been the worst winner for me since I can remember watching  Even worse than Marie N! 64. Agreed, with that ready to go I don't get the logic in releasing an inferior version of a 4 year old track.

She's contempory enough whilst maintaining a vintage edge that a lot of young listeners like! Then again, Radio 1 are very narrowminded :drama:

Yeah, Russia came across as very Eric Saade on a budget, they weren't helped at all by going on a couple of songs after him  33. Whilst I agree with you that she has a contemporary and vintage edge, Radio 1 don't usually think outside the box - it's either pop, dance, indie, urban or dubstep. Jazz, latin, classical, metal, opera, Scandipop etc...it doesn't matter if they throw up a shock hit somehow, Radio 1 won't be playing it  Other genres only seem to get exposure through adverts and TV shows now, certainly not through radio :( It's a shame as the charts have the potential to be so good and varied if only people were exposed to the music.
May 18, 201114 yr Hey :) Never realised "Popular" wasnt a #1 for you :o San Francisco is such a California Gurls rip off  But its a guilty pleasure :P Really like "Running Scared", prolly my favourite song this year, but shame they can't sing to save their lives  Until It Beats No More is gorgeous  Great chart!

I've always enjoyed her music & I hope she continues to release singles as good as this one. Not sure how well Katy Perry's next single will do, it just doesn't seem to have the hit potential as her other songs, plus it's a fifth single. Great chart as always!

Thanks West, Agreed about The Edge Of Glory, the album's pretty great on the whole too  I think Katy's new song will do alright, it's always been one of my favourites and contrasts nicely from E.T. Although I get what you mean, not many artists can smash with a 5th release...
