You'd think it'd be doing better than that in Italy, what with how big they are there. Granted their own Eurovision entry is scraping the top 100 on iTunes there and there are no others to be seen anywhere, but Blue should be higher than that regardless of its status as a Eurovision entry!

UK:

Eurovision 2011:

25. I Can (Radio Edit) [star Sign] - Blue

73. Lipstick (Full Version) - Jedward

98. I Can (Original Mix) - Blue

193. Lipstick (Radio Edit) - Jedward

231. Popular - Eric Saade

402. Running Scared (Eurovision 2011 - Azerbaijan) - Ell & Nikki

416. New Tomorrow - A Friend In London

468. What About My Dreams? (Eurovision 2011 - Hungary) - Kati Wolf

Other Eurovision Entries Of Past Years:

246. Satellite - Lena

302. Fairytale - Alexander Rybak

UK iTunes:

#12, #47 - I Can - Blue

#35, #119 - Lipstick - Jedward

#61 - Running Scared - Ell & Nikki

#65 - Popular - Eric Saade

#75 - New Tommorow - A Friend In London

#87 - Taken By A Stranger - Lena

#100 - So Lucky - Zdob Si Zdub

#105 - What About My Dreams? - Kati Wolf

#170 - One More Day - Eldrine

#179 - Coming Home - Sjonni's Friends

#95 - Satellite - Lena

#140 - Fairytale - Alexander Rybak

Lordi - Hard Rock Hallelujah (#780)

Scooch - Flying The Flag (For You) (#982)

Shame Saade didn't win, he really could have been hugely popular! I guess Ell & Nikki might have a top 75 hit on their hands after all! Two Lena songs in the top 100? NU RIHANNA ALERT! A bit more love for Nadine Beiler please!

Blue are top ten on iTunes Sweden/Germany already and climbing around the continent. They may not have gone top ten in the contest but hopefully they can take one of the biggest hits out of it a la Jessy Matador who came 12th last year. No doubt the juries shoved us out of the top ten...

Jedward #1 in Sweden/#4 in Germany - another Gina G situation coming on here (the most popular post contest hit coming 8th)

Blue #5 in Germany/#6 in Sweden :o

Impressive for Blue but what surprises me is they didn't even get any points from alot of these countries. Its almost like they would have received points through the televote but the juries didn't vote for them so didnt get much or anything in some cases.

If anything, this is proof that political voting doesn't exist to the extent some people claim.

The only countries Blue is doing well in the charts are in Western Europe. As expected, Eastern Europe couldn't give a rats arse about them.

There are only iTunes charts available for the following Eurovision countries;

Austria

Belgium

Denmark

Finland

France

Germany

Greece

Ireland

Italy

Netherlands

Norway

Portugal

Spain

Sweden

Switzerland

All of these are Western European countries apart from Greece, where I Can hasn't been made available yet  And the majority of Blue's points came (65/100) from Eastern Europe!

I really hope he can go top 40 in the UK.

Popular still climbing :o There seem to be LOADS more than usual in the top 300 at this stage, I'll put that down to the viewing figures doubling I think  Ell & Nikki will probably sell 6000-7000 this week, and out of 12 million people, that's not exactly a respectable conversion into sales :( It will be a shame for the winner not to go top 40 but it's pretty much replicated across Europe - in descending order, Lipstick, I Can and Popular are the runaway hits from this year's contest.

It'll be interesting if 'Popular' ends up performing better across Europe than 'Running Scared' considering which track won and finished third.

Interesting how Italy finished second - how well is that track doing on iTunes? I wouldn't be surprised if it's even charting anywhere but Italy. I just fail to see Italy's entry appealing to general music buyers and even Eurovision loons. Clearly Italy did well with the jury vote rather than the televotes - that's the impression I'm getting.

I also get the impression the juries favoured Italy and Azerbaijan over Sweden. Hence why those two countries did better - I reckon had it been just down to televoting, Sweden and possibly UK would've fared better finishing 1st and *top 10* respectively.

I'm shocked as well at how well Greece and Moldova did. :manson:

It seems like Lipstick, Popular, and I Can were clearly the fan favourites! Perhaps they'd have been the Top 3 if juries didn't exist? :kink:

^ The jury vote is a bit like the controller of Radio 1 who decides which tracks make the A list. Then they have some track in the A list for two months but even with Radio 1 bumming the song to death, it just doesn't appeal to the general public and limps into the UK chart at #86.

Hence with Italy it seems to be suffering the same fate - just because a bunch of music snobs the juries liked it, doesn't mean the record buying public will. Therefore iTunes is a true reflection of what is popular, not the jury vote.

One of the members of the UK jury was Dave Arnold. Dave Arnold??!! The jury panel was re-introduced to combat cynics thinking it was just neighbour voting, but I don't agree that jury voting is any less "biased" than televoting! So much for democracy (and what otherwise would've been a runaway winner for poor Eric!)

Running Scared is doing better internationally than I thought actually, still yet to reach #1 anywhere though - Satellite and Fairytale were dominating almost everywhere by this point. Looks like Lipstick is definitely the most popular song chartwise - who on earth would have ever expected that a month ago? Interesting though that Sweden and Germany have taken to it far more than anyone else - I guess because of the hype they caused in Germany during the week, and Sweden because it's written by Swedes plus they love anything pure pop.

Poor Nadine's song is the least popular? Ridiculous :(

Lipstick is written by a Brit and two Danes*. :P

*Danes, Swedes - same thing, really. :kink:
