I still think Example has a strong chance of hitting the #1 spot - by holding back the release, it'll have built up enough demand so people go crazy downloading the song in its first week. However, I suspect 'CTWYKM' will start off selling easily over 100k first week but tail off massively in its second week - down to maybe 60k.
^ Example is probably the only chance of Pitbull not being #1 for months tbh. I can't think of any other big releases that could debut at #1, except perhaps Alex Gaudino, as that's all over radio now and has been held back for ages too (and is also really good).

It may seem that way at the moment but in practice there is no way Pitbull will be #1 for more than about 4 weeks a la LMFAO. Something else will pop up before he goes any further.

Really hope CTWYKM gets to #1 anyway. :D

What'd you mean 'Last Ones Standing' was On Air/One Sale - it was taken from the album and was revealed to be the fourth single months before release.

May 22

The Saturdays 'Notorious'

May 29

Jessie J 'Nobody's Perfect'

Jennifer Lopez ft. Lil Wayne 'I'm Into You'

June 5

Example 'Changed the Way You Kiss Me'

June 12

Calvin Harris ft. Kelis 'Bounce'

These are the only contenders for the number-one spot, I reckon.

Others include:

Bruno Mars 'The Lazy Song' (could return to the top spot)

Swedish House Mafia 'Save the World' (done quite well considering it was relatively OA/OS)

A Gaga track (permitting downloads are high from the album - although hype of [TEOG] and [H] has run out).

Anyone else think of any contenders?

About Last Ones Standing, I don't think it got played on the radio before it was put on iTunes, and it had to climb up the charts to its peak, and couldn't be front-loaded into the top 20 like his other songs. I might be wrong on this though.

The Saturdays definitely won't, since they're also basically on air, on sale. Even Gaga can't get #1s in her first week with on air, on sale songs anymore.

I can't see Jennifer Lopez doing it that week. It's *only* just got into the top 20 on iTunes. It's a great song, and I can see it hopefully doing very well, but I just can't see it exploding and becoming that big of a hit. Pitbull was already in the top 10 before getting a music video, for example.

Nobody's Perfect, perhaps could! :o Its single version is different from the album version, and it's very good. Maybe a lot of her fans might buy it when it comes out. It should at least reach a new peak that week.

Calvin Harris, perhaps. Difficult to tell really. I think it's quite a good song, and I've heard it a couple of times, so it's being promoted quite well.

Swedish House Mafia could. As you said, they're already doing incredibly well. And have probably had even less promotion than Pibtull had had at the time he was #6 on iTunes.

But Radio 1 have only just playlisted Pitbull. It'll be on their playlist for at least a month, surely, and will probably climb to A-List sometime! :o

100k! :o I wish! But hopefully it will go #1, great song!

Hopefully 'Bounce' and 'What A Feeling' get into the top 10.

As much as I'd love for Gaudino and Rowland's 'What a Feeling' to go top 10, I really don't think the latter artist appeals to the UK anymore; so I'd say top 10 was optimistic - I'd say #17, or a similar chart run to Afrojack's single.

Example and Calvin Harris are going to sell plenty this Summer, regardless of whether they reach number-one, the songs are both just epic. As for Jessie J, the only thing seeing release on 29 May is a 4-track remix EP; hopefully what they call 'David Aude Radio Edit' is the single version - because if not the track isn't going to re-peak - the single version is the version I've been waiting to download.

I think The Saturdays could get to number one once the radio & tv kicks in.
I can see WOF getting number 1, it's all over radio and as it's pretty quiet on the release front (bar Pitbull's massive lead) it could easily do it. I can see The Sats maybe getting number 1 2/3 weeks after the inital release if airplay picks up. Can't see Bounce getting number 1, it's great though so I do hope it gets top 10! Tbh I can't see CTWYM quite selling 100k, but I see no reason why it can't get number 1 with decent-ish sales of 80-90k. Aloe Blacc still holding up well too :o Would love him to get number 1, love the song and it'd be something a lot different! I do hope Pitbull can get at least a week, that's a great song too :D Actually, all no.1 prospects look brilliant tbh! :o
Aloe Blacc could do it I guess, never really considered it but it would be a fantastic #1. Not heard the Swedish House Mafia track but I liked their previous two. Just hope we don't have a run of 3-4 week club bangers getting to #1 over the summer :(
Yeah. Maybe I Need a Dollar could! :o I really like that song. It would be quite a weird number-one though, since it's so old now.
'I Need A Dollar' is good but it doesn't sound like number one material :( It just doesn't fit in with the club-banger number ones right now. Pitbull could be there for 2-3 weeks before Example or someone else gets there. Hopefully Calvin Harris can get number one but it seems unlikely.

That's nothing new though. :P Eg; 'Rock Me Amadaus' by Falco hit #1 in the UK in 1986 - a good year after it was #1 in Germany.

Then there's all those re-releases of old tracks that have made #1 over the years. I didn't ever think I'd see Aloe Blacc doing so well but it's a great track

The Nobody's Perfect radio edit will do fairly well on release, but again that has been far too delayed to get the song top 5 i think.

Example HAS to be #1, i loved his last album and was devasted that none of the songs got #1, this could be a huge comback single and fully deserves the top spot. If it was released this week, or even next week it would have been a sure fire #1, now i'm not so sure.

Maybe he could, as lately acts have been climbing to #1 instead of debuting at #1 in their first week, I've been seeing a lot of acts this year spending a few weeks in the chart and peaking at #1, like LMFAO which if I remember right its chart run began as 22-3-2-1-, Pitbull seems to have done a similar thing. Other artists are going to continue to do this.

And for the record, honestly I can't see the Saturdays at #1 next week if Pitbull maintains that lead up on iTunes, they would need a miracle. Not every OA/OS is going to peak at #1 in its first week.

Am I the only one who thinks 'I Need A Dollar' is terrible. Hope it doesn't get to #1, especially since the competition (Pitbull/The Saturdays/LMFAO/SHM/Gaga tracks) are all much better.
^ Plus The Saturdays new song isn't particularly brilliant either. It's the overuse of autotune that really grates on me as it starts off promising in an 'Up Part II' way.

I'm not a fan of 'I Need A Dollar', I just find it a bit boring rather than 'terrible', I wouldn't mind it getting to #1 seeing as it's so different to the rest of the chart and would be very un-expected, but as you've said I'd rather all the other contenders to get to #1.

But there have always been loads. Like last year, there was OMG, Airplanes, What's My Name?, Telephone, (Love the Way You Lie ). And their climbs were all much slower than LMFAO's, Bruno Mars's, etc, which seemed to come out of nowhere and be #1 within a few weeks. Whilst Airplanes, and What's My Name? took like 2 months to climb to #1. And Telephone took 4 months!

Basically, if you're American, you can climb to #1, and if your British, your only hope is if you debut there.

I'm kind of joking when I say this, but seriously, go back and check the chart runs of all the British #1s from last year.

This is why I think The Saturdays won't do it. They need pre-release airplay to do it imo.

surely thats a good thing? it can be tedious seeing club banger after club banger going to number 1- having a song like INAD there would be brilliant as it stands out imo

I'm almost 90% sure the Saturdays will not get to number 1, they are very front-loaded and Missing You had weeks of airplay and build up and still couldn't get there
