The only other name I've seen linked with the job is Kelly Rowland. Which still isn't QUITE the ideal, but would certainly be preferrable to Alesha or Tulisa, especially if she's as spazzy as she often is in interviews.

LMAO, Rachel Stevens will get a #1 sooner than Tulisa becomes an X Factor judge. Has it actually been confirmed that Cheryl won't be a judge on the UK version (aswellas the US version) anyway? And I'm sure I heard Cowell wanted Katy Perry aswell.

Given Simon's acknowledged that it would be practically impossible for him to have done both, I think it's safe to assume the same applies to Cherly.

Katy Perry would be a genuinely great signing, but I can't see it somehow. I'd have thought if Simon could have got her, there's no way the Fox execs would have let him ship her off to the UK whilst the US got lumbered with Cherly.

Frankly the only way to save this all is to turn it into a BIG NICHE BITCHFEST and bring in PETE BURNS and BOY GEORGE to run the show. Throw in someone suitably haggy and it'd probably be the televisual equivalent of the Scissor Sisters debut album (with resultant $UCCE$$)

Kelly would be a great judge and they should ditch Louis also.

Frankie Sandford is surely too much of a non-entity to get the gig. I know in theory Cheryl was just a girlband member before Simon Cowell came calling, but Girls Aloud had already enjoyed MUCH more success than the Saturdays (Wordshaker; 3 copies sold), and Cherly was already a tabloid darling. Frankie, and indeed any of the Saturdays, just AREN'T there yet.

I have to disagree... atm the Sats are actually at a peak, they're everywhere and Frankie is another Cheryl imo. Frankies stunning and has a great personality which you seen through the Saturdays many documentaries. Wordshaker 85k sales! Not brilliant but look at there single sales and album sales from Headlines & Chasing Lights. Up has sold more than most Girls Aloud singles from there recent things.

Danni is the best judge on XFactor.

The audition dates were changed/for Gary Barlow. The audition dates clash with Australia's got talent!

GOOD GRIEF. First Frankie from the Saturdays, and now Pixie Lott? Why don't we just go and fill the judging panel with all the members of Girls Can't Catch and HAVE DONE WITH IT.

The Saturdays may be at a peak, but they're A LONG WAY from reaching the same levels of success, and crucially public recognition, as the likes of Girls Aloud, Sugababes, All Saints, Spice Girls etc. before them. 85k? Certainly their sales aren't enough to command a place on the country's biggest TV show. Your average person on the street is simply NOT going to know or care which Saturday is which. That wasn't the case with Cherly, much as I dislike her.

If you are proclaiming 85k worth of sales to be some form of achievement imma start having to proclaim Catfights & Spotlights and Real Girl to be utter SMASHES.
PIXIE for Judge!

no!

they really should be looking for people who are actually successful in the music industry (and not just through singing) and not just a current act like Tulisa or Frankie Sandford to pull in younger viewers (granted Katy Perry did prove she had the right personality, and Kelly Rowland's slightly better, but still not ideal), Pixie Lott as a judge was just so blatantly a move to pull in younger viewers with zero focus on actual judging credentials :manson:

Frankly if 85k is the benchmark for success these days, let's bring QUEEN DES'REE onto the judging panel, sitting alongside Dario G, the skinhead lad of Chumbawamba, and Shelley Nelson of Tin Tin Out fame.
no!

Not to mention no one can guarantee if The Saturdays and Pixie Lott will even be around in a year's time, such is their rather questionable levels of success and talent so far. (Pixie HAS done well but she's not been through an inevitable sophomore slump yet.) We can hardly have a judge signed to a huge show like this with no certainty that they'll even be relevant by the next time the show comes around.

I'm with Shoat, who pretty much repeated what I said in another thread but he said it much better. All members of The Saturdays are quite unknown by the general public, and are therefore instantly unsuitable as judges. We can't have unrecognisable "celebs" at the forefront of huge reality TV shows, we're not the US!!

I'D RATHER WATCH REPEATS OF 'DON'T STOP BELIEVING'

I don't understand why Gary Barlow's doing this. I mean - he must know that when the show tanks - he's going to get nearly all the blame for it.

Well X Factor will definitely tank this year. They've left the one judge that nobody likes. WOW.

Get Josh whats his name who did Eurovision for the UK last year or Joe McElderry if any of them drop out.

Can't see that happening if they don't screw up the judges. So far we've got Louis and Gary Barlow. Would not surprise me if they ended up with Katy Perry. I know Shoat made the point earlier about FOX might want Katy Perry instead of Cheryl, but it is Simon Cowell's show at the end of the day. ITV are clearly going to be pissed enough as it is that FOX have taken away Cheryl and Simon (arguably the biggest two celebrities, and the biggest ratings pull), so Katy Perry might compensate. I could really see it happening. Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow, Tulisa fron N-Dubz and Alesha Dixon really does sound like the show belongs on Sky One and not on primetime ITV. Can't see ITV letting that happen tbf.

Kelly Rowland is the other name that's been rumoured, and although not exactly A-List I think she'd be a good job. There is NO WAY that the job will go to Frankie Wiseman. But God, could you imagine if it did? Talk about Cheryl Cole Strike 2- She's already got her footballer boyfriend, all she needs to do now is assault a woman in the toilets.

I see your point, but I really would be SHOCKED if it happened that way. By all accounts, Cherly was essentially Fox's last choice for the spot (which is why I think it all took so long for them to announce, and why it was only after others like Nicki Minaj openly stated they wouldn't do it). Given that, I just can't see Fox letting Katy Perry slip by in favour of a girlband member from the UK that barely anybody from America has heard of. Yes, Simon Cowell will have had a lot of say in the judging panel, but if Fox had REALLY pushed him I don't think he'd have gone against them - at the end of the day it's a new and untested show he's trying to persuade them to put on during primetime and promote to the high heavens, and they could have threatened to pull the plug. And with American Idol going great guns, and the Voice out there as well now, there's a LOT riding on this. Simon has influence, but Fox aren't stupid. Cheryl Cole is a BIG risk for them, and if they could have bagged themselves a guaranteed big name instead, that would have been the end of it.
