We got a nice round 40 as UnoShake sent their confirmation at 17:41.

 

Confirmations are officially closed. Haven't a clue though whether we'll have one big final with all 40 countries, or semi finals.

It goes to semis with 40, at least according to the vote that we had last year which accorded we should go back to semis provided we had at least 40 participants.

I really wanted to just have one big final as well. :(

To be honest though, compare last contest's activity with the activity of the contests before. It's clear to see that there was a huge difference...one big final was a bit fairer, yes, but in terms of how it nearly killed off the contest I just don't think it was worth it.

I've sent a PM to Tom as I'm still unsure of a few things. Also Silas is working tonight therefore he asked me to not start any voting threads until he's online (should be around 9pm). There are still a couple of tracks that need to be vetted as far as I'm aware.

Update: We will be going into semi finals after all. :w00t:

It's not 'typical BJSC' but it's a very likeable song regardless imo. Look forward to seeing the confirmed list although I fear whoever's inevitably and predictably confirmed the new Timoteij song will walk away with it.

I don't think Het would win. I mean, it's possible, and if someone's entered it a top three placing is inevitable, but foreign language out and out ethno-Scandipop would probably get up too many people's backs for it to get enough support to win...

Maybe not, it is incredibly strong though, almost as good as Kom, I think it could definitely challenge for a win. Thing being, it's one of those songs that 50% or more of its likely lovers will have rushed to hear it the second that it leaked. Obviously it's not 'cheap' nor would warrant a veto, but it definitely already has about 50 points in the bag from the word go, just as White Light Moment would have if anybody had ever got round to entering that!

I don't mind Het, it's no Kom though :wub: It is essentially a weaker Kom, if it was anything a bit different I'd probably like it more. And :w00t: @ semi-finals! Last time I was really annoyed at semi-finals because I thought I wouldn't qualify. With the artist I have, I doubt I'll not qualify (he/she has caused a hubub before iirc :kink:).

Rob, you're by far the most pessimistic contestant in this contest :lol: You've had some RIGHT shockers in the past but I don't think anything that cheap would get past the mods. At least not to the extent of the likes of Roll Deep et al...

Roll Deep wasn't vetoed? :o When was that then, long before GT was big? I suppose the vetting process is harsher now - I was told SoundGirl would likely be vetoed :o
