October 17, 201113 yr Can we please not fill the next three pages with requests for links? Use filestube or spillitnow and you should be able to find a link. Or google. I have the album on pre-order from Australia and shall wait accordingly. I am getting the Deluxe though ^_^
October 17, 201113 yr Why on Earth have you pre-ordered the Australian version? Coz It was 2 for $40 when I was buying the signed deluxe version of Jessica Mauboy's second album. Plus my copy of All I Ever Wanted is the Australian version, complete with the sticker rating of M.
October 17, 201113 yr I quite like the album. It's not as polished and fabricated as All I Ever Wanted. Some tracks that probably could have been replaced with better tracks but still very enjoyable. I look forward to hearing an acoustic version of If I Can't Have You next week ^_^
October 17, 201113 yr Not gonna lie, majorly disappointed :( It all just feels like same old Kelly to me ...
October 17, 201113 yr Well what were you expecting? A revolution? Kelly has her 'thing' and she does it well, just like Beyoncé or P!nk or Britney or anybody else. It's more of an evolution. I do think it's an improvement on All I Ever Wanted (which by the way I still enjoy very much as an album) and she's snuck a few 80s beats in there to vary it up a bit, but at the end of the day she's a rock pop artist singing shouty rock pop songs. Early favourites of the new tracks are You Love Me, Hello and The War Is Over. Bonus tracks are good but nothing amazing. Alone is the best one.
October 17, 201113 yr Hmmm I dunno, maybe her sound has just dated a bit then?! Some of the songs are pretty goood, I love 'Honestly' and 'What Doesn't Kill You' ... and also kind of disappointed at the lack of ballads.
October 18, 201113 yr Holy shit. 'Honestly' is absolutely mindblowing. IN LOVE. IF YOU'RE HATIN' ME DO IT HONESTLY. Edited October 18, 201113 yr by Conderella
October 18, 201113 yr 09 Mr Know It All - I've always wanted it to have a proper $$$ note, it'd be a 10 with one, but it's still a marvellous song as is. 10 What Doesn't Kill You - Pure KC magic at work right here guys, what an amazing chorus. It's pretty voxtastic too which is always a winner in my books. Perfect choice for 2nd single. 08 Dark Side - the bit where it slows down just before the chorus is lovely, suffers a little after the behemoth of What Doesn't Kill You. It BUILDS nicely though. 08 Honestly - how very dramatic, not quite as keen on the vocal, she sounds a bit strained at times but perhaps thats just emotion and I don't GET that. 08 You Love Me - nice change of pace with this one, it's all about the chorus though with slightly weaker verses. 06 Einstein - well that fab run couldn't last forever, it's not bad per se, I just think the production lets it down a little but the chorus is still pretty good. 09 Standing In Front Of You - The first proper ballad then and it's gorgeous, a lovely restrained vocal and a beautiful melody. Jonathan will approve. 10 I Forgive You - I knew this was going to be one of the highlights, WHAT a chorus, my only complaint is that it's not long enough. 07 Hello - not quite so keen on this one. It sounds akin to 'Einstein' production and melody wise, the middle 8 is the saving grace. 09 The War Is Over - I see what Jark means about it being slightly Battlefield-esque, surprised this isn't a Tedder production, it does sound very like one. The way the verses build into the chorus is a JOY, I think it could have been better served with a bit more of a build towards the end for maximum DRAMA. 08 Let Me Down - Glad this wasn't the lead single, it's obviously very good, but it's just too KC by numbers to be a single I think. The chorus is obviously the strong point once again, the verses are a slight let down in comparison, nice bouncy piano melody though. 07 You Can't Win - disappointing chorus lets the whole thing down. 08 Breaking Your Own Heart - Boring? Jark needs a new dictionary. It's the done thing to close on a ballad I guess and this is a perfectly lovely ballad with slight faux country leanings. THE REST 07 Don't You Wanna Stay - Not something the album actually needs and I'll probably end up removing it from the playlist on iTunes but t's a perfectly lovely song and Jelly sounds lovely on it. It makes me picture some king of 80's/90's film break up scene or something with this as the backing track. 08 Alone - The intro sounds VERY 80's, this is a good thing. It doesn't really represent the rest of the song. Big vox on a big chorus is always a winner. 06 Don't Be A Girl About It - Production on this sounds quite similar to MLWSWY, especially the intro. Pity the rest of the song is pretty weak, the ooooh ooooh bits in particular are a bit rubbish. The chorus is servicable, but sounds a bit too cheap compared with a lot of the other stuff on the album. 07 The Sun Will Rise - Kelly and Kara sound really good together, but the song itself could have done with more work on the verses, the chorus with them both SCREAMING away is marvellous though. I think the real strength with this album is that it combines the things that Jelly likes best: pop/rock, balladry, faux/almost country to great effect, something she always seems to have missed the mark with before. I did adore AIEW for a good 9 months before it settled at an 8/10 so I'll have to give this some time, but for now it's sounding like her best album to date. I could have done with a big ballad though, as I might have mentioned Already Gone is a 13/10 life changing epic, but you only really NEED one of those I suppose. I'll be quite interested to hear some of the Smoakstack version, especially The War Is Over and Sun Will Rise.
