What will happen is there will be 10 rounds, the first being 1980, then 1981 etc. up to round 10 which will be 1989. The top 4 from each round will go straight to the final, and 5th to 7th placed will go in a "wildcard" round. The top ten songs from the "wildcard" round will be put into the final round to make a top 50 of the decade. After the final the next rate will be 00s number 2s How you rate the songs; exactly the same as last time, you do not rate every song that hit number one, you just rate your ten favourites and your least favourite. You give +15 points to your favourite song, and the rest are as follows; This is to hopefully stop ties from happening inside the top 3. +15 Favourite Song +12 2nd Favourite Song +10 3rd Favourite Song +08 4th Favourite +06 5th Favourite +05 6th Favourite +04 7th Favourite +03 8th Favourite +02 9th Favourite +01 10th Favourite -02 Least Favourite, or Most Hated depending on what way you look at it These are the songs you need to rate from. You have 2 days for every round to rate. This means the deadline is Tuesday morning and hopefully the wildcard round will be up by then. Ultimate 80s Number Ones Rate 1989 1. Having said that, ROT is number one for me by miles (and one of my faves of the 80s) and I love my top 3 Edited May 22, 201114 yr by danielMFAO

May 22, 201114 yr Author I won't be surprised if Black Box and Madonna get tons of points due to the fact that there are only a few good songs in this round. 300+ might be possible ;)

May 22, 201114 yr I only found out recently that there were *2* 80s #1s that sample Gary Glitter. (Doctorin' The Tardis and Jive Bunny - Let's Party) :drama: I'm glad Gary Glitter's music is never in the charts any more... oh wait, Glee. -_- Sorry I haven't been voting in this by the way. I just don't know enough of the songs. I'll vote in the 00s #2 rate. Edited May 22, 201114 yr by Bray

May 22, 201114 yr 1989! A great year (for dance music, maybe not so for pop...) but my affection for rubbish SAW records unfortunately is all here to see... +15 Sonia - You'll Never Stop Me Loving You (this is my ultimate guilty pleasure, I'm a sucker for that silly linen beat and cowbell that was used by SAW a lot in 89 - always make me grin from ear to ear and c'mon.... it's SONIA!) +12 Madonna - Like A Prayer (a very close second place for what is arguably her most accomplished single! A true classic!) +10 Kylie - Hand On Your Heart (Great little pop ditty accompanied by a pretty shocking video, more SAW gold...) +08 Black Box - Ride On Time (This years best selling single made it all the way to number one without the aid of a video, testament to how good this track was and still is!) +06 Soul II Soul - Back To Life (Another true classic!) +05 Lisa Stansfield - All Around The World (Rochdales finest!) +04 Bangles - Eternal Flame +03 Kylie/Jason - Especially For You +02 Jason Donavon - Too Many Broken Hearts +01 Marc Almond/Gene Pitney - Somethings Gotten Hold Of My Heart -02 Jason Donavon - Sealed With A Kiss
May 22, 201114 yr I won't be surprised if Black Box and Madonna get tons of points due to the fact that there are only a few good songs in this round. 300+ might be possible ;) Some people might not bother voting though since there's not that many great songs and those two will obviously win by a mile
May 22, 201114 yr 88's results are by far the most disappointing yet, still I'd been doing pretty well up until then. God, this year is atrocious, I'd never stopped before to see just how much S/A/W dominated. +15 Black Box “Ride On Time” +12 Soul II Soul “Back To Life (However Do You Want Me)” +10 Marc Almond feat. May 22, 201114 yr Black Box, Soul II Soul, Madonna, and Lisa Stansfield are the stand out #1s of the year, Kylie's track at the time was just about average. I never would have predicted Simple Minds to go to #1 with Belfast Child, at the time I was a huge fan of them. Its a shame Technotronic feat. Felly, Pump Up The Jam missed the top due to Black Box at #1 at the time, the video was very naughty, bounce, bounce, bounce :D 9EcjWd-O4jI
