Oh well, the lyrics will help me get accustomed to the song...I'd only heard it once before this morning

Clearly a well thought out entry then!

To be fair though, when it's got Agnes strings like that, who needs a second listen to see its brilliance

Oh the STRINGS!! I was wondering where the Agnes comparisons in the odds thread were coming from.

To be fair I need to really concentrate to hear them :P

Really? They were very apparent to me on the first listen. But as the 'World's biggest fan of strings in pop music ™', they can turn any average song into a masterpiece for me, which is probably why I currently have a huge irrational love for one hit wonder Owl City's new album

I'd very much like to have the link to mp3's please! :D

Shame it didn't have 4 minutes of silence :heehee: :P

Thanks Tom. I thought it had sounded a bit odd, but didn't think it mattered enough to find another video myself. Here are my comments on all of the songs, from best to worst, including my own track. Sorry if I've been too repetitve with some words like 'interesting' or 'bored'.

Really enjoying the music, his voice, the chorus. Even if the lyrics aren’t brilliant, it’s quite catchy, I’m wanting to sing along and it’s slightly different to all the other songs. - 9.5/10

If I haven’t heard this somewhere before, the chorus sounds like something I have heard before. That ain’t a bad thing, in fact I’m taking it as a good thing, loving the chorus though some of it is hard to understand. - 9.0/10

This is more like it, nothing more than just catchy pop really but that’s how I like it. - 8.5/10

Really catchy, ok tune, not too sure on the voice but really like this persons image. - 8.5/10

This is one that’s better than I was expecting, to say it’s not quite the type of music I listen to. Only wish there was a bit more. - 8.5/10

Probably enjoyed this more than I should. But it’s in my head, and she has a good voice. I went into it not expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised. - 8.0/10

I was expecting a bit more. Interesting voice, not too sure on it, but still enjoyable all the same. - 8.0/10

One of the more interesting tracks, not quite my usual thing but still very enjoyable. - 8.0/10

Was expecting the chorus to be a bit stronger, but I still enjoyed it and I quite like her image. Some of the lyrics are pretty naff though - not that I can complain, being a massive fan of ‘Friday’. - 8.0/10

This isn’t the type of music I normally choose to listen to, and it isn’t brilliant but her voice is ok and overall I do really like it. - 8.0/10

Not too keen on the tune, and I probably expected it to be better as it sounds quite promising in places, but boy it really gets into my head, and is a bit of a grower. - 7.5/10

Sounded so promising to start with but then it started going downhill and left me feeling a bit empty (or wanting something more). But it’s in my head and still fairly enjoyable. - 6.0/10

Had the feeling that it didn’t really go anywhere, but there was a certain part I really liked. - 5.5/10

I was expecting this to be poppier at first, so I’m a bit disappointed. But overall, it isn’t the worst thing in the semi. - 5.0/10

Not really liking his voice. Catchy-ish, but it’s during the hook when his voice is at it’s worst. - 4.5/10

Another song where I’m a bit bored, but it does have some very interesting elements. - 4.0/10

I’m really laughing here - but for all the wrong reasons. Guess it’s quite catchy, but I’ve still got to admit that it’s pretty terrible. - 3.5/10

This mark is probably too harsh, but I want to be honest and I’m bored. Not finding it catchy, and nothing about the singer is lifting the mark up here. - 3.0/10

This clearly isn’t the semi to get me up and dancing, again getting a bit bored, but there is a certain bit that will probably be stuck in my head. Drags a bit towards the end though. - 2.5/10

I’m bored once again, but this time it’s more understandable as this isn’t something I’d normally have any interest in at all. - 2.0/10

OI. It's a good job I voted before I saw this, otherwise I might've docked a couple of points from my rating :P

God, this contest is BRILLIANT. I'm about halfway through semi 1 after listening to semi 2 again and there isn't a single track I dislike so far!

I think we must be listening to different songs. Though I still need to listen to semi 2, maybe I'll find that lot better overall.

No no, I think this is easily the best contest (in terms of general quality - there've been better in terms of more high points) we've had in YEARS. There isn't a single track I dislike overall, and I can't remember the last time - if ever - that that happened...
Oh, and can I just say that Itsie Bitsie Boe is possibly the hottest mess EVER, from the utter naffness to the song to the blatant mutton-dressed-as-lamb troupe B-A-B-E themselves

Semi 1 is actually really strong, although I think knowing most of the songs before probably helped with that. Took me a while to finalise my votes, but I managed to get there in the end.

Semi 2 isn't quite as strong, but there's still a lot of good stuff there too.

I just hope I do better than 24th or whatever it was last time.

Swap the descriptions around, and that's what I think of each semi!

I have to admit despite being drawn in SF1, I think SF2 is stronger overall - I'd even go as far as to suggest that the winner of BJSC XXXIV will come from SF2 - I just don't know what that song is as there are quite a few potential winners this time round. Then again SF1 does also have quite a few strong contenders. :o

It's pure brilliance. I just hope people understand that it's not meant to be a credible song and see it more for the entertainment factor.

BJSC XXXIV - Semi Final Voting

To all those who have yet to vote, perhaps a nice little bitesize recap of the tracks will help you decide which tracks to vote for? Or maybe not. Regardless, I've compiled two semi final videos which can be viewed below:

Semi Final 1

Semi Final 2

:D
I can't believe I'm being subjected to Darin AGAIN.

What's wrong with Darin? :o
