Em...yes. She's selling 120k+ every week in the US for a while now.

PLUS Adele is like the breakthrough act of the year, she's quite big everywhere now.

Interesting... She is quite big I guess, but not Gaga big in any way...

BTW should top almost every chart in the world this week with decent sales(Gaga should sell 1million+ WW on her first week). If she can give Gaga a run for the best selling WW album this year that will be an achievement. Having listened to Gaga's album I think she has two very strong singles left on BTW so she should bother the charts for a while (whereas Adelle is clearly starting to drop). Both could end up at over 6millions! The critical point is how huge is BTW going to be in the US. Because, let's face it, if she sells 4 million albums in the US only nobody will be able to challenge that.

Born This Way sold around 250,000-350,000 digital downloads in the first day in the US, so it will most likely get a million this week alone!

I love how Adele is being considered a breakthrough artist when 19 was so huge too lol. (i think i might actually prefer 19 to 21 :kink: )

It's amazing how it's such a battle between Gaga and Adele. Probably now and then again at the Grammys.

Although, I doubt either will win AOTY. Both have been huge, but Gaga is at 73/100 on Metacritic and Adele at 75/100. Kanye's latest has 94/100 :o I think he'll sweep up!

Thanks to Irish Guy at UK Mix

Yesterday's sales for Born This Way: 31,587

Total 125,712

Album of the year 2011? Grammys or Brits?

Why is Hello back in the top 40?

I'd say simply by default, as Jedward, Take That, Blue and Hair tumble from above it, and with not many new entries this week.

I meant this is her worldwide breakthrough year. 21 is MUCH MUCH bigger than 19 tbh.

@Darren-5-08 Kanye's new album has 94/100 RATING :o ? HE'S DEFINITELY GOING TO WIN ALBUM OF THE YEAR AT GRAMMYS :o

I don't think BTW will outsell 21 worldwide this year, I think its sales will be really frontloaded while 21 will continue to sell consistently throughout the year.

LOL @ 21 'only being really big in the UK' It's massive everywhere!

Anyway, great to see Alexandra top 10 today :D Looks like SHM will only climb one place this week though :(

Also fantastic to see The Prodigy holding #3 today, I hope they have a good lead over 19 so they can stay #3 all week.

Disappointing to see BJ+AF already out of the top 100. Looks like it's possible only Yoü And I and Marry The Night will go top 100 now :o

i hope kanye gets best album at the grammys lol! even though i probably like it about as much BTW, i think i would prefer to see kanye get it for some reason.

He will get it, have you seen the reviews of his album? They're all 5 stars or A or favourable ratings lol. Even last year winner's Arcade Fire's album ratings cannot compare to Kanye West's album ratings. :o

yeah i know he got great reviews and the album deserved it! i just hope the grammy panel agrees with them all haha

I'd like Adele to get the award since she's done Britain proud as well as proving that you don't have to release uptempos or "trend-following" songs to be successful.

She would have battled Gaga for it at the Grammys as they've got similar ratings but Kanye has it in the bag seeing his album is just so critically acclaimed..

Why is "critical acclaim" so relevant? Do the critics vote for the award?

It's amazing to see Alexandra Stan get top 10! I was worried it would be one of the great songs to peak between 10 - 15 (joining Wonderman, Hello etc.) I'd like to see it continue to climb over the next few weeks as it's amazing and Euro dance songs are great at this time of year, too good for the UK to ignore.

A massive well-done to GaGa as well. I was one of the 126,000 people to buy her album this week :D Nice to see Pitbull staying at number one. If he does three weeks at number one I'll be very happy (no more than 3 please so Example and Calvin Harris can have their turn :P)

Why is "critical acclaim" so relevant? Do the critics vote for the award?

It's relevant because the Album of the Year is what it's all about, the quality of the album in general and the tracks quality. Seeing how he's getting 5 stars and A's and favourable ratings, how can he not get it? Arcade Fire got it last year because their album was really praised...

Just seen the total sales for Lady Gaga's album 126k, and her sales dropped to 32k for yesterday. if she drops to around 26k per day for today, tomorrow and Friday, that's 200k plus, Saturday sales will be be around 35k plus, I roughly estimate 235k plus for the week, which sounds about right.
