Aaah I love Ludovico Einaudi. 'Nuvole Bianche' is my favourite, could listen to it forever on repeat.

I second this. It's such a nice song, and with all the piano ballads doing well in the chart (Adele, Birdy etc.) if R1 give it some support it would be nice to see it have some sucess. Of course that's probably not going to happen :( But top 40 would be amazing, instrumentals are very rare these days.

Ah, good call on the instrumental thing too - would be the first instrumental top 40 hit since Sub Focus - Rock It. (Or Chicane - Poppiholla as I'm not 100% certain if Rock It has vocals or not)

But anyway, I Giorni is from 2001, so it'd be a little late for R1 to start supporting it :kink:

we could be looking at quite a diverse chart on sunday with that opera song on the rise :D

why are Paramore climbing so fast? is it the Twilight soundtrack? or is it just their new single? they could be looking at their first ever top 10 hit :o never thought I'd say that for a rock band post-2010

Coldplay are still at 3 :D there actually holding up well, Christmas Lights was falling by now

'I gioni' is not an opera song, it is a piano instrumental. Paramore's new single is on the soundtrack to the new Transformers movie. I've just heard Coldplay's new single in full, it's nothing special but it's good to see them do well in the first-week. I give it a 7/10 :D

I'm not sure if there's actually a big difference between the two as it's hardly my favourite style of music :P But I believe I Giorni is more classical than opera.

Paramore's song is from the Transformers 3 soundtrack, but I think it's mostly just their fanbase doing wonders at the moment as Linkin Park's Iridescent is also from the Transformers 3 soundtrack and that only got to the high 60s on iTunes (to be fair that song was on their album though). But yeah, must be the first time in a while a rock band is getting their first top 10 hit assuming it does make it. The lead single from album 4 could be absolutely massive (in its first couple of days at the very least) if it's released OA/OS!

Pleasantly surprised Coldplay are still at #3 but the decline has got to be on its way shortly :( Really hoping they can cling onto the official top 5 all week.

Radio 1 ARE supporting it though, quite a lot considering the circumstances.

I was listening at lunch, and the presenter started telling everybody to buy the song. He was all like "I saw it in the top 40 on a very well-known download site last night. It was even selling more than Nicole Scherzinger and LMFAO's new song. Everybody go and buy it, I want it to be a new entry in the chart update tommorrow".

I think actively telling the listeners to buy the song is as supportive as you can get really.

I agree though. I'd like to see instrumentals do well in the chart more often. Although songs like Beautiful People, which are very instrumental driven, are a step in the right direction.

I heard the Coldplay song on the radio for the first time today (I narrowly missed its radio premiere). Also, this is going back about 40 pages, but we were discussing how it was possible for it to be playlisted on Radio 1 without anybody having heard the song. One of the presenters confirmed shortly before the premiere that he'd already heard it, so I think it's quite likely that the playlist panel might've heard the song after all.

Really surprised to see Paramore top 10! :o I'm glad Bruno is gone though!

Paramore :w00t: They'd best be top 10 on Sunday, f***ing love them! Hope Weezy gets top 40 officially with his best song (imo) as well!
Ah, so Greg basically is campaigning I Giorni into the chart. I was wondering if it was a proper 'campaign' or just him randomly playing it a couple of times.

I don't like the new Weezy song from the preview on iTunes, but I'd love it to get T40 just to see the reactions of Buzzjackers - and maybe this time they'll ACTUALLY play it

It started out with him randomly playing, as a bit of a joke I think, but I guess when he saw it high on iTunes yesterday he got serious about it.

Also, I noticed, yet again, he made a point about not mentioning iTunes. I really think they're encouraged not to mention it (and probably the same with other download sites).

I don't like it a whole lot either. Although good for him for trying something different I guess. I'm surprised at how well it's doing! :o

That'd be because R1 aren't allowed to mention any brand names. (If they do it accidentally they're required to say 'other brands of [product] are also available')

Is that because it's the BBC then? A lot of commercial radio stations often talk about the iTunes chart (and specifically name it), because it's basically the Big Top 40 Show's chart, but I guess Radio 1 is payed for by the license fee or something, so that might be why it's different for them?

The BBC aren't allowed to have any kind of product placement or branding on their shows.

Thanks. :) I remember I was on another forum, and someone there went on a MASSIVE rant about something like that happening on Radio 4, I think it was. I was quite startled as to why it was such a big deal, but what you said would explain why.

Pre-orders in the album chart:

32. DJ Fresh - Louder

45. Ed Sheeran - The A Team

93. Beyonce - 4 (ALBUM)

94. Take That - Progressed (ALBUM)

129. Vato Gonzales - Badman Riddim

130. Bad Meets Evil - Hell: The Sequel (ALBUM)

180. Bon Iver - Bon Iver (ALBUM)

DJ Fresh looking like a certain top 10, Ed Sheeran could be a shock top 20 (love the song though)! Beyonce should do well with her album - I want it to go number 1 but I kinda hope it peaks at 4 (then she'd have 1, 2, 3 and 4 as album peaks!). Her first peaked at 1, her second peaked at 2, her third peaked at 3 and hopefully her fourth (coincidentally named 4 :lol) gets to 4 (but number 1 would be great!)
DJ Fresh is a certain number 1 IMO - he's been top 20 for weeks now on the album chart with pre-orders

Edited by ElectroBoy

Yeah, I think DJ Fresh would do very well. Same for Vato Gonzalez.

Bruno Mars back in the top 10! :drama:

How frustrating. I thought he might fall past Dev without the top 10 effect, so she'd be #11 when Fast Car fell out, but evidently, she's failed...AGAIN! :(

DJ Fresh should be number 1- its the lowest its been in ages, but it was almost top 10 on pre-orders alone, I'd be very surprised if it missed the top 3, Ed Sheeran could be top 10- he's been in the pre-order chart a while

btw I do do an update every week in the Itunes album chart thread for those that are interested :P (but thanks Arrs for doing it in here too)

You got her peaks in the wrong order - it was her second album that peaked at #3 and her third that peaked at #2.
