I don't even see how it got a second series and I don't even watch it bar to laugh at the has-beens for a week or two but the line-up's been announced for ages and I thought I'd share the info:

Andy Bell from Erasure

Cheryl Baker from Bucks Fizz

Claire Richards from Steps (to think DOI had Faye Tozer -_- Albeit in reserve)

Jocelyn Brown (some random singer who I don't recognise any songs of)

Joe McElderry from X-Factor ()

Joe Washbourn from Toploader

Melody Thornton from Pussycat Dolls (while Nicole's busy having big promo slots and having UK hits... :kink:)

Midge Ure from Ultravox

I might tune in just to see McElderry in desperation

Was Melody the dual heritage one from the PCDs? I always thought she was rather good when she got her occasional ad-lib, so I might just watch her performances.

GAME SHOW: Popstar to Operastar

On: ITV1 Central (103)

Date: Saturday 4th June 2011 (starting in 2 days)

Time: 21:00 to 21:30 (30 minutes long)

The Curtain Raiser.

Myleene Klass presents a preview show ahead of the new series of Popstar

to Operastar in which she reveals the stars taking part and the critics

who will be judging them. The contestants talk about how they feel about

going back to basics and learning to sing all over again. Plus there is

a sensational duet from the singers' mentors - international mezzo-

soprano Katherine Jenkins and world-class tenor Rolando Villazon.

The

celebrities stepping up in this year's show are Erasure's Andy Bell,

Cheryl Baker, Claire Richards from Steps, former Pussycat Doll Melody

Thornton, Jocelyn Brown, Joe McElderry, Midge Ure and Toploader's Joseph

Washbourn.

So, which of the above pop has-beens will make the biggest fool of themselves? :P

Joe McElderry, FINALLY we see Melody from the PCD in some spotlight again :D

Quite interested to see Claire on there, all of them are fairly famous or at least once were.

I caught bits of the last series but none of the contestants massively interested me. Can Joe win another singing reality TV show!?!

That's actually a pretty decent line-up. Possibly excluding the guy from Toploader (and also Joe McElderry, although he is by far the most current on the list), they've all had pretty big careers in music.
This is reality tv, and you'll find there's already a thread in the reality TV forum ;)

Which is why they have now been merged ^_^

She is. She does have a great voice!

the thing with this programme is the best singer will not win. the woman from shakespeares sister was the best last season but the girls voted for Darius.

Joe will walk it and win another music show but it will only prolong his faltering music career a few more weeks. i sort of hope this doesnt happen because i did quite like the series last year and I fully expect Melody and Claire to be very very good

Vanessa from The Saturdays was FANTASTIC last year but she was the 2nd to go wasn't she? Or third? :(

May actually get to hear her sing on her own :o

Nicole might swoop in after Melody takes the first breath and steal the performance :P

From the line up I'm already supporting Jocelyn Brown to win. :D Sadly I think Herbs is right and that Joe will most probably win the show - people who couldn't be arsed buying his music will be more than happy to vote for him on another TV reality/talent show.
I'm ASHAMED that Andy Bell is doing this. The lead singer of my childhood music obsessions reduced to this. :(

I didn't even know there *was* a reality TV forum, let alone to to look there. :P

Thoroughly enjoyed the first season, Bernie Nolan was spectacular. Hopefully there'll be some great people this season too.
Dire, more classical music butchered by desperadoes.

Claire Richards made a massive jump in the betting after her first performance. Joe might not be an easy winner after all!
