Posted June 4, 201114 yr Glee star Naya Rivera is reportedly on the verge of launching a solo music career. According to EW, Rivera has now signed a deal with Columbia Records to record a solo album. She will allegedly begin work on her debut LP once the current Glee tour finishes later this summer. The actress first appeared in a minor role on the first season of Glee, but was upgraded to a series regular for the recently-concluded second season. Her character Santana Lopez has gone on to receive an increased amount of airtime this season, featuring in more solo songs and discovering that she is a lesbian. Rivera is now the third Glee star to embark on a music career alongside the show, following album launches by both Matthew Morrison and Mark Salling. HELL YEAH :w00t: Best voice in Glee!
June 4, 201114 yr Will wait until we hear some original material, but I don't know if she'd really do well away from the show, I don't know if any of them could manage to go solo. Rachel & Kurt have great voices, but are probably more broadway. But I hope she gets some good material as I really enjoy her vocals, and this could go quite well. Probably more liked than Puck & Will, so their solo failure can't fully be used to judge how this will go.
June 4, 201114 yr I agree Jack I mean Matthew morrison and the guy who plays puck haven't really set the charts alight with their albums. Naya has a good voice but not the best in glee. Amber Riley does and could pull of a jennifer hudson or fantasia type album.
June 4, 201114 yr Ooh this could be exciting. I've often thought that if any of them could actually make the transition to fully fledged artist it'd be Naya. I really dont think the same with Amber truth be told, the vocal talent is there obviously but I cant see it happening. Naya has potential though, as long as she's not given some generic Ciara rejects. She's also technically not the most well known face from the show which might be more of a help than a hindrance in the longrun as non-Glee fans wont be put off as the mention of her name.
June 5, 201114 yr HELL YEAH :w00t: Best voice in Glee! Now, now. Let's not get all looned up :P She has a good voice, but in no way is it better than Lea's or Amber's voices  (And technically, Chris but he needs a required taste I reckon) Some of her songs on Glee are indeed very good, but I do think she's overrated when it comes to her voice, on here. It's quite graspy (particularly in 'Songbird') and sometimes it just feels hard to listen to it for much longer. But having said that, I like her voice enough to anticipate a debut album (unlike Matthew's - I should try out Mark's as his voice is great sometimes!) so I await with eagerness! :D
June 6, 201114 yr Author I'm far too looned up for Santana (and Naya :P) :( Her tone is the best for me, but yeah obviously Lea, Amber and (whiny and irritating as his voice is) Chris are better in power/technique.
August 23, 201212 yr Naya Rivera @NayaRivera Dance rehearsal for a very exciting video shoot tomorrow!Naya Rivera @NayaRivera Haha yes it's a music video ;-) I AM READY.
August 23, 201212 yr Really excited for this! Even though I was of the impression she was used far too often last season of Glee (song wise). Hopefully her original stuff will be as epic as her acting skills
August 23, 201212 yr I hope she brings it. She's got a fairly good voice, so I hope she can come out with something decent.
August 23, 201212 yr If it's an album of original songs, I'm there. If it's just covers I doubt I'll bother, got more than enough of those last season.
January 11, 201312 yr What happened to that vid she was doing in August? Was it for this? How come I've only just found out about this? She's smoking hot in this video though: jbLEA0AmfAw But I don't like it. I hate the song anyway (Muse, bleurgh) but not even Naya saves this, quite frankly, hot mess. The record is atrocious it's far too scratchy and squeaky for my liking. I quite liked them being on Glee's cover of 'Smooth Criminal', but that's as far as it goes for me.
April 26, 201312 yr I love how the article says that she is 'on the verge of launching a solo music career' She's been on that verge for nearly 2 years now
July 10, 201312 yr This seems to still be happening. Taken from her official FB page :) "I would describe it as R&B, rhythmic pop. It’s just really feel-good. It's kind of got a ‘90s feel to it, so that’s kind of cool and unique." - Naya on her upcoming album, The Huffington Post
July 10, 201312 yr That sounds like the sorta thing that could be successful right now too. SOON PLEASE NAYA.
