'Santa Baby' is on the Throwback Thursday playlist this week. About half way down but we should still see the effects considering it's already on the Spotify chart.

 

Not that Thursday streams are considered in the official chart.

As Liam said though, any streams achieved today don't count towards the Official Charts, because they don't receive the data in time for it to be counted in the Friday charts. OCC has to estimate what streaming figures might be on Thursday based on trends from the week.

 

(So anybody who streams because they want to help out their favourite artists/songs in the chart, it's all for nothing on a Thursday).

It’s doesn’t even count the following week :nocheer: Streams on a Thursday are null and void as the OCC guesstimate them on the trend of the week so the actual figures never get included anywhere, I hope as streaming continues to get bigger and bigger that they find a solution to count actual streams rather than taking averages.

Good start to the week

Ahhh, the one time of year Kylie is guaranteed to get played on Radio 1. Aside from when she unexpectedly gets a top 40 hit and the 3-4 times a year CGYOMH gets played.

Yes I do like the fact Santa Baby sees Kylie actually get Radio 1 daytime play, although it is kinda sad that you can guarantee it will be have been played more times this Christmas than all the other Kylie songs put together this year.

I'm pretty sure a remix of Dancing was played on Radio 1 a few times earlier this year?

I’m still really disappointed by the lack of chart activity for SB this year, even with the new chart rules it’s hasnt impacted other Christmas songs too much but SB is really struggling compared to last year when it was Top 50 at this point.

 

Maybe my expectations were too high but I thought coming off of the back of a successful year that there would be renewed interest in SB and the Christmas album.

I think part of the reason for Santa Baby's struggle, beyond ACR, is that it also has 0 video streams... and even a small contribution from that could be the difference between making the Top 100 and missing out.

 

It achieved eligible sales of 6,281, and #100 sold 6,490 - so it was only 209 sales adrift.

 

Its actual weekly sales of 12,284 would have seen it place at #84 in the "old rules" chart (in which no songs would be subjected to ACR).

 

Santa Baby's latest total is 271,320. Could it cross 300k before the year is out?
