I agree. Although I still like them. RITD I like more out of the two now, although I'm still hearing it on the radio much more than I need to be.

I'm not actually sure if SFTTR will make top 40 this week tbh. It was very low at the beginning of the week.

Can anyone explain me a phenomenon of Adele? Why and how did she become popular with her emmm... specific genre? I understand that she's got "sponsors", but whatever...

I thinking that! Duffy was bigger last era, but this time around she's exploded and knocked the whole industry out the water! The only thing I can think of is the BRITS making SLY explode - no idea how on earth how 21 quite got to selling so much, and how RITD has been a multi-week number 1 in the US though. We can't use the 'material is better' excuse - plenty of artist's best work has failed. Ah well, I love Adele (have done since Hometown was released on the quiet - pre Chasing Pavements) so good for her I say

The Brits performance isnt the main key to her success in any way shape or form. The key to her success is THE MATERIAL. She's just written a great bunch of songs, and the public absolutely love them, and have luckily been given the support of radio and TV all over the globe.

(Also her voice is music heaven and so unique meaning she stands out on radio completely! Oh and how can you forget, majority of the public relate to her  ).

Single EP pre-orders released at midnight

22. Ed Sheeran - The A Team

95. Dappy & Tinchy Stryder - Spaceship

171. Calvin Harris - Bounce (Remixes) (feat. Kelis)

180. True Tiger - In The Air (feat. Professor Green & Maverick Sabre)

these are in the Itunes albums chart, all of these could go top 10 :o

the hammering of Make You Feel My Love on X Factor last year could've raised awareness, plus there's been an awful lot of hype behind it, the BRITs performance basically set the chain of huge success in motion  I have to admit this level of success even surprised me

Someone Like You probably wouldn't be a million seller without the help of the Brit Awards. 21 was an outstanding success though for the album chart.

Also need to add in Make You Feel My Love to be overrated and i'm SICK of it -_-

SLY was only released because of Brits Performance, and ofcourse wouldnt have been as big as the video played as the official video, and the performance was the talk of the country for weeks.

'21' was set to be huge regardless, with RITD and SLY the album was always set for big things. Also now with SFTTR it's going to keep it up.

Anyway this thread gone off topic more then enough for one day.

Right There #4 & #19 ( 4 places since yesterday before performance)

California King Bed  #11 top 10 again would be great!

I Giorni  #28 :( Addicted to this beauty!

Set Fire To The Rain, 6 more minutes worth of sales, #35, has it done enough to go top 40 officially this week? Really hope so, but if not next week, and hopefully RITD and SLY will also be top 40. :w00t:

That didn't have any effect in the rest of the World though. It's crazy to think how she's just exploded out, Worldwide. She's already sold 6 million copies of the album and it's still selling about 300k, Worldwide, a week.

Adele has the chance of having the #1 album of the year I think, a VERY big chance.

I'd like to believe, but now it's just impossible  Music already isn't a kind of art, just busines...

This probably sounds a bit stupid, but I think the BRITs performance and the success of Someone Like You in the UK has had an effect all over the world. Only a small effect, but if you look at the charts in other countries, you see Someone Like You got cherry-picked a lot in most of them, even though it's only been released as a single in the UK and a couple of other countries.

And I also think Adele could get the biggest-selling album of the year. It'll be that or Lady Gaga's album. I can't think of anything else which can come close.

And in terms of singles aswell, Rolling in the Deep could do it.

I think the worldwide success is mainly her appeal spreading, other countries heard about her massive success in the UK and anticipation built, although I'm really shocked its at this level but there you go :o

for example, Rolling In The Deep was used in Glee, which helped greatly in the raising of awareness and sales

Rolling in the Deep got put on US iTunes back in like November last year aswell, yet it's only NOW that it's at #1! :o

I remember people whining when it was struggling in the chart, because apparently the US can't appreciate good music and talented artists. And now it's the YTD #3, and done way better than it has in the UK!!

Also a contestant on American Idol covered Rolling In The Deep as well which boosted it.

@Eric_Bob At this point, it's really a competition between Lady Gaga - Born This Way, Bruno Mars - Grenade, Katy Perry - E.T and Adele - Rolling In The Deep to see who gets the #1 worldwide song of the year.

I think Born This Way would be the current best-selling song, and since it's still selling more than Grenade, I think Grenade is out of the running.

I don't think E.T. will either, because it's only sold a bit more than RITD in the US, but RITD has sold more than E.T. in nearly every other country, and is still #1 in the US, so it's catching up.

So I think it's Born This Way vs. Rolling in the Deep, unless something else comes up (but it has to be released within the next couple of months obviously). Althoguh last year's top 2 were California Gurls and Love the Way You Lie, which were both released around now, so there could be another big hit about to come out of nowhere and beat those two songs.

Can't really see a hit at the moment with the current artist situation, there isn't any big names releasing new singles out soon I don't think.

So many big names, so little hits

Yeah, I can't think of any. I assume Katy Perry, Rihanna and Lady Gaga will all have new tracks out before the end of this year (like for album re-releases), but it'll be too late by then obviously.

A new or lesser-known artist could have a hit, but it's too late now, since it'll take too long for the song to get big.

in the Singles chart:

33. Calvin Harris - Bounce :o :o :o (mind, Nicola Roberts was about this high as well :kink: hopefully this won't go the same way)

202. Dappy & Tinchy Stryder - Spaceship

476. Ed Sheeran - The A Team (also a fake version at 709)

and on the albums:

1. Ed Sheeran - The A Team

6. Dappy & Tinchy Stryder - Spaceship

24. True Tiger - In The Air (feat. Professor Green)

26. Calvin Harris - Bounce (Remixes) (feat. Kelis)
