Posted June 13, 201114 yr Death Cab for Cutie's Codes and Keys dropped 24->out. Probably it's not a record of any kind but made me think of the steepest drops inside the top 75 or out of chart altogether. Has any album debuted in top 10 and then dropped out? And yea I'm well aware of Bionic so no need to mention that one.
June 13, 201114 yr 15 albums have dropped from the top 40 to out of the top 100 and never returned this year alone. Death Cab were the biggest one, but there's also been: Twenty Twenty - Small Talk 26-OUT The Blackout - Hope St. 27-OUT Steve Earle - I'll Never Get Out Of This World Alive 28-OUT Emmylou Harris - Hard Bargain 30-OUT The Pigeon Detectives - Up, Guards And At 'Em! 30-OUT Iron & Wine - Kiss Each Other Clean 32-OUT Journey - Eclipse 33-OUT Whitesnake - Forevermore 33-OUT Funeral Party - The Golden Age Of Knowhere 37-OUT Twin Atlantic - Free 37-OUT Mona - Mona 39-OUT T.I. - No Mercy 39-OUT Joan As Police Woman - The Deep Field 40-OUT The Kills - Blood Pressure 40-OUT
June 13, 201114 yr 14-43-76-x It only spent 4 weeks in the whole chart, too! It spent one more week in the Top 200!
June 13, 201114 yr In fact, we've had more in the first 24 weeks of 2011 than we had in the WHOLE of 2010! 10 albums did it in 2010: Rock Choir - Rock Choir Volume 1 19-OUT Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - History Of Modern 28-OUT Jimmy Eat World - Invented 29-OUT Murderdolls - Women And Children Last 33-OUT Coheed And Cambria - Year Of The Black Rainbow 35-OUT Goo Goo Dolls - Something For The Rest Of Us 36-OUT One Night Only - One Night Only 36-OUT I Am Arrows - Sun Comes Up Again 38-OUT Robyn - Body Talk Pt 2 38-OUT Alphabeat - The Beat Is... 39-OUT David Bowie went 26-OUT with Station To Station as well, but this was a re-release so I'm not counting it in the list. June 13, 201114 yr Indeed some have collapsed out of the top 75 from the top 20 - for example Gallows on 23rd May 09 from No 20 to out of the top 75! Also Jason Donovan- "Soundtrack to the 80s" 20- OUT (Oct 10) Hadouken "For The Masses" 19-OUT (Feb 10) Rock Choir "Rock Choir Vol 1"- 19 -OUT (Jul 10) Bring Me The Horizon "There is a hell, believe me I've seen it, there is a heaven let's keep it a secret" 13-OUT (Oct 10) Edited June 13, 201114 yr by gezza76
June 13, 201114 yr Westlife's album Westlife fell from #3 to #37 (although it didn't fall from it's debut) Edited June 13, 201114 yr by liamk97
June 13, 201114 yr Indeed some have collapsed out of the top 75 from the top 20 - for example Gallows on 23rd May 09 from No 20 to out of the top 75! And, as I mentioned in my previous post, Rock Choir's Rock Choir Volume 1 from #19 :P
June 13, 201114 yr this did actually stabilise so probably doesn't count, but Little Boots debuted at 5 before plummeting and then clinging on to the top 40 by the skin of its teeth next week - that was seen as especially shocking considering she was the Sound of 2009 winner Edited June 13, 201114 yr by Chart Wizard
June 13, 201114 yr And, as I mentioned in my previous post, Rock Choir's Rock Choir Volume 1 from #19 :P You edited that as i was posting!!
June 13, 201114 yr Dream Theater - Black Clouds & Silver Linings dropped from 23 to out of the top 100 in 2009. This obviously isn't that unusual, but it was #3 in the first mids of that first week, so had it not had such a dramatic drop-off within its first week that could have been and absolutely spectacular drop-out!
June 13, 201114 yr Author Thanks guys Bring Me The Horizon "There is a hell, believe me I've seen it, there is a heaven let's keep it a secret" 13-OUT (Oct 10) This might well be the record of dropping out altogether (for me, and the Music Week, the chart is top 75 for at least until the end of this year) Edited June 13, 201114 yr by SKOB
June 13, 201114 yr Thanks guys Bring Me The Horizon "There is a hell, believe me I've seen it, there is a heaven let's keep it a secret" 13-OUT (Oct 10) This might well be the record of dropping out altogether (for me, and the Music Week, the chart is top 75 for at least until the end of this year) Unless you count the Now! album that dropped out from #1 on a technicality. And The Seekers' 'The Four & Only Seekers' which also dropped out from #1 on a technicality as it was never meant to chart in the first place.
June 13, 201114 yr Ellie Goulding's "Lights" intially dropped from 1-16! :o You wouldn't have thought for an album that dropped like that from number one would have sold over half a million copies and spent over a year in the chart!
June 13, 201114 yr Suprised noone's mentioned Christina Aguilera's Bionic. It dropped from #1 - #29 breaking a record.
June 13, 201114 yr Suprised noone's mentioned Christina Aguilera's Bionic. It dropped from #1 - #29 breaking a record. That's because SKOB asked no-one to mention it, because he was fully aware of it
