You're right. I think it's very likely now.

It's just too difficult for songs released in the last half of the year to get official year-end #1 in the US since they include airplay in it.

Exactly, album wise tho anything is possible :w00t:

Yeah. I suspect with the albums it'll either be Adele or Lady Gaga in the end. Although Kanye and Jay-Z's album might sell a lot too, considering how popular Kanye is there at the moment. Or maybe Bad Meets Evil will get it. :kink: I doubt it, but I hope they at least get #1 this week.

Adele is successful because she has a relatively strong album that appeals to pretty much all of the different markets. To try and pretend that she's anything other than a massive success story is just ludicrous.

Her album sales are phenomenal and you cannot achieve that solely by having an old song played on X-Factor a few times. The great reviews and strong singles are what has made this era as huge for her as it has been. This is a landmark album that will be remembered as one of the all time greats in history and I for one think it's great that something like this can still do so well.

Her new album hasn't even been promoted on XF.. and she's huge worldwide so it can't be down to X Factor.

Both albums are by the same artist, so Make You Feel My Love being promoted by the X Factor will help 21 be more popular.

I agree with you though. Her chart success worldwide is evidence that she would've been successful without the X Factor.

Well this week could be between owl city and adele if a large proprotion of album sales in the US are on itunes, owl city was top until today

I think Bad Meets Evil will get it. They'll probably sell better in physicals compared to their contenders, especially considering a lot of their fanbase don't have access to the Internet. Plus, it's really good, and they do have SO many fans. I'd be really shocked (and upset) if it didn't get #1 where it counts the most.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from as in , who is still buying this record? Its amazing there is still so much interest in the album when its already sold 2,500,000+ copies in such a short space of time. (and that is legally! Imagine the nubers of illegal downloads! Every househould could own a copy ) I would not be surprised with it becoming one of the biggest albums of all time in the UK, and by any UK artist WW.

Its amazing that 19 is holding up so well, with MYFML not really round anymore, it must be selling on name alone and on the back of 21 still. :D

lol yeahh it still amazes me, and yeahh you can bet that the album has been torrented another million times here alone lol. To be fair though, 2.5million isnt enough to make it stand as the biggest selling album of all time in the UK. It needs to hit 3 million before people can start looking at that happening. If she manages to sell 5million of this album WW then that will be great for her, she has already broken the 4million barrier i read somewhere so she's definately on course. I just hope they dont repackage it at xmas, ive had enough of her at the top of the charts but im happy for her at the same time (if that makes sense lol)

I agree totally, many people would have forgotten about adele before the XF used MYFML for every sob story or song cover. That made people more aware of adele's voice and definately boosted 21 as people were curious as well as the media (at the moment) praising everything she does, however that can easily change. I can't see her beating the success and sales of this album and its singles though, her third will probably still shift close to 2 million over here but i cant see it being as successful as is the case with alot of follow-ups. Not just the second album syndrome.

Owl City is still relevant in the music industry? Thought they died down after Fireflies :P

Bad Meets Evil faces stiff competition in the US this week from Jackie Evancho, not Owl City

I think it'll go:

1. Bad Meets Evil

2. Jackie Evancho

3. Adele

4. Owl City

Just a reminder for everyone Take That sold 532000 copies in their frist week. That's what I call sales.....
Plus it's their fourth consecutive album selling more than 2 million in the UK. Beautiful World actually sold 3 million.

They sold 532k in the Christmas period when sales are ridiculously inflated. You can't compare that to Adele's situation.

As per mediatraffic.de, she's already sold 6.75m WW.

It's already the biggest-selling album in a calendar year in history so the follow-up is bound to struggle to match that.
