Aw, Nerina is falling quite a bit now! Wasn't expecting her to stay as high as #9 though, but I was hoping it would stay top 15.

Very good to see Caro in the top 10 though.

Was there not a gap between Te Amo and Love the Way You Lie?

Te Amo was in the top 40 when Love The Way You Lie was still in the top 5.

We've had a continuous Rihanna in the top 75 since Run This Town, though.

And, unrelated trivia, but we've had continous David Guetta and Black Eyed Peas in the top 100 since When Love Takes Over (this isn't counting IGF, btw) and Boom Boom Pow respectively.

Wonder if Sophie E-B will stay top 20! Doubt it though, but Nerina's fallen 5 places, Sophie only 2 - and Sophie's done more promotion I think.

As for non-number 1s, I don't think 9 or even 10 weeks counts! Some years 8 weeks top 40 is good going for a #1. Since about 2006-2007 the really massive songs nearly all get 20 weeks top 40 anyway, but that doesn't mean 20 weeks is the bar for a true number 1.

Sub-200k sales is a much better indication IMO (and look at 2010's non number 1s - Once, Dirtee Disco...JLS? 200k or less. And some of the others like Roll Deep not much over 200k.) There are a few exceptions to this from the 2003-2007 period but even then the really low-sellers (50-150k) were pretty much all non number 1s.

I think Diana and JLS both sold over 200k.... JLS i'm pretty certain did + Roll Deep too... not sure about Mr Rascal though

So Kelis is NU SASH! :drama: Are there any acts with 4 #2s and no #1 (or any others with 3 #2s and no #1)?

Pleased to see Example climb back to the number-one spot. My belief is that for it to claim the title of 'Summer Hit', it's need to stick around for at least 3 weeks at the peak - although having another multiple week #1 will make up for the awful 2010.

1 - Rihanna ft. Drake

1 - Ke$ha

1 - Nicole Scherzinger

1 - Bruno Mars [TLS]

1 - Example

2 - Bruno Mars [G]

2 - Jessie J ft. B.o.B

2 - Jennifer Lopez ft. Pitbull

3 - Pitbull ft. Ne-Yo, Afrojack & Nayer

4 - LMFAO ft. Lauren Bennet & GoonRock

5 - Adele

As it stands, we've had 5 one-weekers, 3 two-weekers, a three-weeker, a four-weeker and a five-weeker.

S Club Juniors had 3 :)

S Club Juniors had 3 :)

And two members of SCJ (can't remember their names sorry) had 5 (3 with SCJ and 2 with The Saturdays) :P

^ Frankie and Rochelle.

I'm hoping maybe Ed Sheeran can get to 2 or even 1 by Sunday. I know the latter is impossible, and the former is unlikely but still! Glad Example is back though, I like Bounce but it's underwhelming considering the two great artists on it.

6 one-weekers if you include Matt Cardle (but of course it's debatable if that week was in 2011 or not - I personally say it is but I think 'officially' it isn't)

Compared to this point in 2010 (I'll ignore Bad Romance for consistency)

1 - Jason Derülo

1 - Usher ft. will.i.am

1 - Diana Vickers

1 - B.o.B ft. Bruno Mars

1 - Dizzee Rascal ft. Daniel Pearce

1 - David Guetta & Chris Willis ft. Fergie & LMFAO

1 - Shout For England ft. Dizzee Rascal & James Corden

2 - Iyaz

2 - Helping Haiti

2 - Tinie Tempah

2 - Lady GaGa ft. Beyoncé

2 - Scouting For Girls

3 - Owl City

3 - Roll Deep ft. Jodie Connor

How can you ignore Bad Romance :o

SLlewellyn ignored When We Collide.

I'm glad to see Example back at number 1, I like Bounce, but its not much compared to Example - Kelis is going to get ANOTHER number 2

great to see Ed Sheeran still top 3 as well

IMO, in this climate I think 300k is the boundary, anything below is a non no.1, total sales of 200k is very disappointing for a no.1 nowadays that average number one sales are around 100k.

I think We R Who We R might've sold 300,000 though.

And also, to someone else, all the #1s from 2010 have sold over 200,000.

Also, about climbs to #1 again, songs that climbed to #1 by this point in 2010:

Bad Romance

Fireflies

Telephone

OMG

Gettin' Over You

And songs that have climbed to #1 in 2011 with on air, on sale:

What's My Name?

Someone Like You

Party Rock Anthem

The Lazy Song

Give Me Everything

WMN?, SLY and TLS were not OA/OS :drama: There is a difference between OA/OS and a song being available from an album's release date then promoted later

There have been as many OA/OS climbers to #1 this year as there were at this point last year (Bad Romance and OMG were essentially OA/OS releases)

OMG actually wasn't on air, on sale. I was definitely hearing it on the radio for a couple of weeks before it charted.

Although when I said "after on air, on sale" then, I meant after it was brought in February, I was intending just to list all the climbers.

But anyway, there isn't really any difference. You can put a stand-alone single for download and wait a few months before you start promoting it. That's still on air, on sale, and exactly the same circumstance that most album tracks are in.

Maybe I'm wrong about OMG then - I certainly don't remember it getting any airplay before charting.

The difference between OA/OS and an album track becoming a single is that people have a chance to get to know the latter before its release.
