June 19, 201114 yr Any you can think of? I remember Mariah - Loving You Long Time did REALLY well on airplay (her biggest ever?) and didn't make Top 75 ha. I remember that too. I think it was #8 on radio and outside top 80 on singles. No, she had bigger hits on radio. AIWFCIY went top 5 few times past years, I think it was #1. Also, WBT was #2 for weeks, it was blocked by charlotte church's crazy chick :puke2:
June 19, 201114 yr Owl City - Umbrella Beach was an airplay #6 after Fireflies got to #1 it missed the Top 100. Shame, as it was actually an ok song. :(
June 19, 201114 yr The entire Nerina Pallot discography really. I also seem to remember Beverley Knight - After You got top 20 (top 10?) on airplay but was #131 in the official chart.
June 19, 201114 yr The Kooks - Shine On (#1 Airplay, #25 Singles) Dido - Don't Leave Home (#1 Airplay, #25 Singles) Travis - Flowers In The Window (#1 Airplay, #18 Singles)
June 19, 201114 yr Alejandro was the third most played song of 2010, yet it only peaked at 7
June 19, 201114 yr Alejandro was the third most played song of 2010, yet it only peaked at 7  Yeah, that one still baffles me to be honest. 3rd most played song of the entire year, yet it couldn't even get top 5 in just ONE week? Really strange tbh. Another one is Morning Sun by Robbie Williams.
June 19, 201114 yr 'Love It When You Call' by The Feeling was something ridicdulous like the 3rd most played song of the whole 2000s decade. With a #18 peak.
June 19, 201114 yr 'Love It When You Call' by The Feeling was something ridicdulous like the 3rd most played song of the whole 2000s decade. With a #18 peak. Really!?! :o Gosh, that's so stupid. There were like hundreds of #1s, a lot of which probably didn't get anywhere close to that airplay. :(
June 19, 201114 yr Alejandro was the third most played song of 2010, yet it only peaked at 7  I think I remember Natalie Imbruglia's Shiver being the most played song of 2005 and yet only peaked at 8 (didn't last that long in the chart either). Pretty sure it was still on heavy rotation in 2006 too. Odd.
June 19, 201114 yr Take That always seem to have massive airplay and yet some of their songs haven't troubled the top 10. I'm thinking Up All Night (which actually has pretty good overall sales figures considering it only peaked at #14) Kidz and Love, Love though - have had awful peaks and awful sales. Kath
June 19, 201114 yr Although to be fair, in some of those cases (Take That, Dido, Lady GaGa), the tracks were all later singles from albums that already shifted bucketloads, so it's not REALLY the case that the tracks weren't popular with the public...
June 19, 201114 yr Generally anything that appears on the Radio 2 playlist. And Smooth Radio too! They are both called Adult stations, hence teenager stations (who influence the chart) don't bother with them. An unfair society & the chart not influencing the Adult audience because the older generation, don't download much. There was a lot of phone calls to Smooth about purchasing "Whats Going On-Rain Forest" the Paul Hardcastle track. However it's download only & adults would rather by it in the shops.
June 19, 201114 yr Their positions are most certainly not 'awful' but Cee-Lo Greens positions for 'Its OK' and 'Bright Lights Bigger City' (#20 & #13) do not live up to the mass amount of airplay they got, even with BLBC getting to #1 on the Airplay charts.
June 19, 201114 yr 'Love It When You Call' by The Feeling was something ridicdulous like the 3rd most played song of the whole 2000s decade. With a #18 peak. I always thought the top 3 of last decade was chasing cars, don't feel like dancin and shine? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8434418.stm

June 19, 201114 yr Really!?! :o Gosh, that's so stupid. There were like hundreds of #1s, a lot of which probably didn't get anywhere close to that airplay. :( One second people are complaining that radios only support big sellers and do bandwagoning (ie playlisting a song when it gets popular on Itunes or such), and the second after they are complaining about the fact they do support songs that are not huge sellers. Personally, I think the radio charts don't have to be a perfect reflection of the actual charts.
