Wow, some unexpected lingering fanbase power to get a completely unheard of Darren Hayes song that high a few hours after release :o

Not really that unexpected, given that they got 'On the Verge of Something Wonderful' into the top 20 in 2007.

Indeed, although that was 4 years ago, sales were a lot lower and it came almost entirely from frontloaded physical sales after a few weeks of build up. Given the change in the market and the lack of publicity or word of mouth that the new song has had, not to mention that the song only premiered today, it's off to a rather unexpectedly good start!

True. But it's still impressive now, given the sales are much higher, and our chart isn't friendly to new entries like that anymore.

Katy accelerating up the top 10 quickly, very close to #9 now :D

I wonder if Katy can sneak in at #10 on the official chart on Sunday. It'll be brilliant if she could.

Also great to see Enrique reach the top 50. 'Dirty Dancer' should have definitely been the second single instead of 'Heartbeat'. If it reaches the top 40, I'll be pleased. If it reaches the top 10 miraculously, I'll be extremely happy!

Heartbeat would've been better now I think, with Nicole being really popular, and Heartbeat would be really different if it was released now, whilst Dirty Dancer won't stand out from anything else imo, whilst it might've done a bit more if it was released 9 months ago.

Katy Perry - Last Friday Night #9

Happy it's top 10, Looks like her 5th top 10 single off 'Teenage Dream' album. AMAZING era for her :)

What other artists have managed 5 UK top 10 hits from one album without a re-issue? I know there's Christina Aguilera with Stripped but that's all I can think of. Surely, the last time someone achieved this was less than 8/9 years ago? :o

Even artists like Lady GaGa, Beyonce, Rihanna (yet) and Girls Aloud haven't achieved this.

I see that adele's album has made it's way back to #1 on itunes aswell... when's the video for 'Set Fire To The Rain' actually out?

lol. According to some people here Rihanna and the BEPs can release anything and it'll go top 10.

Seriously though, I can't actually think of any! :o

I was about to say 'Jump', 'The show', 'Love machine', 'I'll stand by you' and 'Wake me up' from 'What will the neighboor say?!' all went top 5 but actually 'Jump' first appeared on the 'Sound of the underground' re-issue so I guess it doesn't count. ^_^

Katy technically hasn't had five from one album. The non-album version of E.T was used as the main version (Kayne), which alot of people seem to have forgotten about.

The album version was top 10 anyway, IIRC.

No, it was frontloaded and got to #11 on iTunes, and then the single version overtook it. Although now its ahead of the single version again, oddly enough. But I think it still would've gone top 10 without the Kanye version.

However, in the US, there was one point where the album version was at #2, and the single version as at #3!! I still can't believe how big E.T. was! :o

No confirmed date yet.

Katy Perry is on SUCH a roll!

Yesterday, we were pleased to announce that Katy's Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) had made its way into the Hot 100's top 5!

We were also impressed to learn that Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) hit the #1 spot on the Digital Songs chart!

Now, we've learned that Katy's song E.T. (above) has passed the 4 million mark in digital sales, making it her FIFTH song to pass 4 mil! Wowsa!

Her other songs that have passed that mark include Hot N Cold, California Gurls, Firework, and I Kissed A Girl.

This makes Katy the ONLY artist to ever have five songs pass the 4 mil mark in digital sales!!!

Congratulations, gurl! We are VERY impressed!

It was around a year ago this week that CG was released on UK iTunes. :D I remember posting the link to the song and promoting it (and TD) on BuzzJack. ^_^
