It bombed horribly in the USA and I suspect it'll do similarly badly here. This era isn't going too well for Guetta so far.

In the USA last era, David Guetta didn't do that well. When Love Takes Over and Who's That Chick? flopped, for example (yes guys, Rihanna songs CAN flop ). Gettin' Over You, which I was hearing all over the place when I was in the US, didn't even chart that high either. I think his only proper hit was Sexy Chick. So over there I don't think he's doing appallingly compared to previously, so far.

I think it's a sure-fire top 10 (on iTunes) in the UK, but I think it'll gradually take off during the middle of the week.

I haven't listened to it yet. I hope it's not a clone of one of his previous songs again.

And deservingly so - Guetta is so 2009 and he sadly hasnt moved on - all his new songs sound the same and he isnt going in a good direction. Having said that, he did produce 'Sweat'

there's hardly any hype over Little Bad Girl, is there even a video? looks like this could flop, I thought this could've been a potential number 1 at first

I think there's Sexy Chick and Where Them Girls At which sound the same, and then Club Can't Handle Me, I Gotta Feeling and Gettin' Over You which sound similar. But other than that, I don't think he's done too badly. Most other producers also have a bunch of songs which sound the same to be fair.

There wasn't any hype around Sweat though either, and Where Them Girls At was released unexpectedly weeks before it was meant to be (hence the massive gap between the release date and the music video).

Memories was a decent sized hit too. And GOY/WTC? did chart as well, just fairly lowly. I'm not sure they even released WLTO (or One Love) in the USA.

EDIT: Oh, WLTO was released in the USA - it just peaked at #76

EDIT2: Memories only made #46  I swear I remember it being much bigger! GOY peaked at #31. But you're right that Sexy Bitch was his only big hit from the One Love era (and his only big hit as the lead artist overall)

I think most of you are under-estimating David Guetta! The general public definitely aren't getting bored of him. It doesn't really sound like any of his other songs, but it is trademark Guetta at the same time.

I think David Guetta is like Lady Gaga in sense, in that anything he releases can go top 10 on iTunes at this stage.

I think his popularity will start to decrease one day, but not now.

It could get top 10 or even top 5 on Guetta's name alone (he hasn't missed the top 10 since 'Memories' and that was a big hit anyway despite its peak, his last real flop was One Love which was affected by the Estelle curse) but unless airplay treats it well and it gets a video fast it'll bomb out of the charts really quickly.

If it does go top 10 it'll be his 11th top 10 hit as a credited artist :o That's crazy for a French act!

LBG is awful, it will be by far the worst song in the top 10 if it gets there (now that LMFAO are out) :( I can't see it going number 1 though.

Seems strange that 'Little Bad Girl' is getting released at midnight in the UK yet the video to 'Where Them Girls At' was only released last week. Then again 'WTGA' did really well to go 03-03-07 with no music video, it probably sold on word of mouth (amongst teenagers). :D Now that the video has gone into circulation, it doesn't seem to have done much for 'WTGA'. I'm sure 'Who's That Chick?' returned to th top 10 just after the video release but again it didn't exactly help boost its sales.

I actually think Eric Blob is spot on. David Guetta's releases have been like Lady GaGa this year. Perfrom well initially on iTunes and make the UK top 10 (but not peak at #1 officially). Tracks drops down the chart. 7 weeks later video is released and the track only seems to get a slight boost in sales propelling the song back into the top 20. Well, actually 'Judas' and 'The Edge Of Glory' both returned to the top 10 after the video release.

The best example of a song that debuted remarkably high on its first week with no promo beforehand is Love the Way You Lie.

It managed to go 7-6-4-2 without a music video! :o It didn't have much radio airplay at that point either, and was only even confirmed as a single on like its 3rd week in the chart.

Having listened to Little Bad Girl in full now, it's okay, but not fantastic imo. It doesn't sound identical to any of his previous songs though, which is good. But it pales in comparion to Who's That Chick? and Sweat imo. It reminds me of Tonight by Enrique aswell, but I think that's just because of Ludacris's parts.

I'm sure the video for WTC? was only finally starting to be played by channels after both of its top ten runs were over? So it didn't climb much at all with it. WTGA has at least gone up from the low 20s to the top 15.

 11. Super Bass - Nicki Minaj

 12. Set Fire to the Rain - ADELE

:( There goes Adele's shot of going top 10, hopefully it'll still get there in the next few weeks. It NEEDS a video! It wouldn't give it much of a boost but it doesn't need much of a boost. Although as I say, #12 is still a really good peak for it considering how much the album has already sold and it's still massively outpeaking two of her previous singles from a much lower selling album.

 20. Rolling in the Deep (Live from iTunes Festival: London 2011) - Linkin Park

Really hope this is top 40 this week as it's probably its only chance (it's falling quite quickly now so it doesn't really have a hope in hell of being top 40 next week). I downloaded it yesterday.

I'm sure 'Love The Way You Lie' was getting radio airplay soon after it made the UK charts. Most likely the week when the track climbed to #4 hence why the track was able to sell so well thereafter spending a total of 5 (iirc?) weeks at #2 - just a shame it never made #1 as it definitely is one of 2010's defining hits.

Yay, Nicki Minaj is far more deserving of a Top 10 place than Adele! :D Really hope it gets there.

I think Adele still has a chance at top 10 on iTunes. She's no stranger to longevity, and I don't think her airplay has peaked yet. Plus, I think the song is very good, and it'll probably get used on TV somewhere in the future which will boost it into the top 10.

The first time it got played on Radio 1 would've been the mid-week chart update. And I still remember the first time I heard it on Galaxy/Capital aswell. It was immediately after the Big Top 40 Show, where it charted at #2 or #3 in its first week, I think. This meant they played the track twice in the space of 20 minutes, but I was like "Yay" at the time.

It did get airplay from almost immediately after the album was released, but I think it was quite a while until it was, say, top 20 on the radio airplay charts. Infact, Radio 1 played the entire album, so technically Space Bound had its radio premiere almost a year ago!

But yeah, I agree with you. I think the fact that its promotion was spread out like that gave the song its enourmous top 10 run. A bit like Who's That Chick?'s run (except in the top 20), just as radio airplay was decreasing the music video finally got sent to MTV.

4 weeks at #2. Its top 10 run went [7-6-4-3-2-4-2-2-2-4-7-6-6] (dropped to #11 the next week).

Of course it's one of 2010's defining hits, it was the biggest seller of 2010 :kink:

-x-

 99. Viva la Vida - Coldplay

 Back in the top 100 again after being knocked out by all the 59p songs (although most of those are still in the top 100, a few of them are starting to fall quite a bit now though)

That now means Coldplay have more top 100 entries than Beyoncé again :kink: They have ETIAW at #16, FY at #38, TS at #54 and VLV at #99 while Bey has BTINH at #4, RTW(G) at #33 and IIWAB at #47.

If Adele gets nominated at the Mercury Music Prize 2011, maybe 'SFTTR' will be performed at the ceremony. That could help boost sales for the single at least.

...and for that we should be thankful. :P

What I meant was it's one of the big hits from 2010 that people are most likely still going to hear in 10 years time. I'm sure people have already forgotton such #1 gems as 'Dirtee Disco' and 'Gettin' Over You' in comparison. The latter two were very much of their time in the chart but haven't had strong selling power to keep them top 200 in iTunes since release. 'LTWYL' is still selling well on iTunes after almost a year.

It's so pleasing to see 'Champagne Showers' flopping.

Oh I agree. It's horrendous and the perfect example of how not to follow up a massive #1 hit.
