"I already have 8 songs! I would like to release the 5th album really quick. Goodbye Lullaby was more mellow, and the next one will be pop and more fun again. I already have a song that I know is going to be a single, I just need to re-record it!" - Avril

I don't think album #5 is happening when she says so. I don't think anything is up to her anymore after such a flop.

I kinda hope this isnt true, while I look forward to hearing new music from mu favourite artists, I think this is too soon for another release. Plus this may also mean that'll she perform new stuff on the tour, I like to hear stuff I already know at a gig

I'd love her to release another 'under my skin'

What she means by this is: "$h!t, Goodbye Lullaby really flopped. Ah well, I have a backlog of stuff I recorded a few years ago, let's put that onto another album (to be called The Best Damn Thing mk 2) quickly and let's hope everyone forgets Goodbye Lullaby ever happened. The one thing I need to do is make sure the song I put out for radio sounds 2011ish."

And I'm a fan.

bring it on. 'goodbye lullaby' was a great album, but nothing is going to resurrect it now. besides, the more music and the sooner I can hear it the better, especially if it's 'pop' and 'more fun'.
Bearing in mind Goodbye Lullaby was meant to be out in 2009 ;)

an update on album number 5:

*she has already written 8 songs for the album so far, two of which are called 'fine' and 'gone' which were intended to be on 'goodbye lullaby'.

*she has explained that the next album will 'musically be the opposite of 'goodbye lullaby'', and that the next one will be 'pop and more fun again'.

*she has been working with music production duo the runners and nickelback's chad kroeger.

*the fifth album is expected to be out this year (although we all know what that means).

*she has confirmed that she has moved over from RCA to epic records.

now that she's under new management and is going back to the pop sound, I reckon that there is a chance that she could steer back into chart success over here! :D of course there's still the issue of showing some progression in her sound to help her chart success too. I'd hope to have the album a lot sooner than we had to wait inbetween 'the best damn thing' and 'goodbye lullaby', although I'm preparing to wait until 2014. :(

Basically her label have taken over her career again. She might do a Kelly Clarkson well and truly now.
I would be happy to have early Avril back. The Best Damn Thing got annoying very quickly.
I think for an artist like Avril, she can afford to flop an album and have success with her following album by going back to the sound people are more familiar with.
Hasn't Avril always been pop? I mean Sk8er Boi, Complicated, I'm With You, Happy Ending etc aren't too far away from PUsh, When You're Gone, I Wish You Were Here etc..
Yeah, she's always been pop surely? Maybe with a rockier edge for the first two albums, but she was never not pop to my ears.

I'd say that avril technically has always been pop, but each album had another genre infused with it. 'let go' and 'under my skin' were more pop-rock, 'the best damn thing' probably the same but with a less edgier feel, while 'goodbye lullaby' was more acoustic-based, 'what the hell' and 'smile' being the songs that don't really fit there.

I think what she's saying is that for the next album that she'll go back to the 'the best damn thing' sound, which I really, really wouldn't mind. 'the best damn thing' is *get ready for an unpopular opinion* my favourite album that I've ever heard. I've not got bored of any song on there since it was released back in 2007.

Avril has completed her 5th album!!

' @AvrilLavigne: Just finished my record and now I'm going to take some time for myself before I embark on my next artistic journey..... '

:cheer:

let's hope by 'time' she doesn't mean half a decade this time.

It has to be better than GL or i will give up on her :(

oh and she needs to grow up and stop acting like a teenager and more like a 27 year old should.
