#526 - Rebecca Black - "My Moment"

:party2:

I wonder if it will be more successful than "Friday"... (although at this rate it looks unlikely).

I just bought Rebecca Black...Purely to secretly add to mates ipods and make their ears bleed..In all honesty though I do feel sorry for her she really isn't as bad as people make out.

Shes up to #296 now.

You honestly bought it for that reason?

You do realise that iPods have a 'skip' button, right?

The video for the new David Guetta song is now out, so maybe we could see it rise due to the video effect. I'm still quite surprised how it has not gone Top 10 yet.

20 Enrique Iglesias with Usher & Lil Wayne/ Dirty Dancer

24 Red Hot Chili Peppers/ The Adventures Of Rain Dance Maggie

58 LMFAO/ Sexy And I Know It

286 Rebecca Black/ My Moment

I think RHCP are just gonna go the same way as all rock bands who do OA/OS and shoot up initially, but then stall :( it'll need to go top 5 and stay there all week for a chance to go top 10 officially
Well, it's a release pattern that's worked so far - it's given them 4 #1s and 2 other high selling top 10 hits. Why stop now? Plus it looks like She Makes Me Wanna will probably be bigger than The Club Is Alive anyway.

Someone Like You now up to #24  overtaking blink-182. Could climb again on next week's chart. :D

theres no denying the quality has decreased though. i would also argue singles position isnt the best analysis especially for a band which is based on chart sucess...sales count for much more - the club is alive got to no1 but its sales were poor for a number 1, in fact it was a non number 1 if you can state such a thing.

they also released 3 singles an album to keep their chart history good, a bit like westlife they dont want any non top 10 singles!!

How can you say Rebecca Black is not that bad? OK the cringe factor is a lot lower in this new track but she still sounds awful. Her straining at certain points in the song made me feel embarassed for her.

On a happier note, I am good to see Bjork back even if she will never have a big hit single/album ever again here.

^ Well, she isn't that bad. People act like she's the worst singer on the planet. And she's not. So she's not that bad. Same with Cheryl Cole, Katy Perry, etc. They're not as bad as people say tbh.

Clearly none of those are the worst singers on the planet, but to be fair, if they weren't attractive, they wouldn't be successful singers. Cheryl Cole, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Kesha etc.. are known for doing poor live vocal performances, but they are deemed attractive enough to garner record deals. There are so many singers on YouTube (for example) that are absolutely incredible, but haven't even been signed. So I think it's fair for people to slate artists like that when they have record deals and are making millions, but aren't actually that talented.

I challenge you to say ANYONE is worse than this girl:

On the subject of RB, I loved Friday, and I'd say I'm a fan of hers, but the new one is pretty bad, I got halfway through before turning off...

I don't think it's right to slate artists like that.

Firstly, EVERYBODY knows they aren't good singers. It's not like it's some hidden secret or anything.

Secondly, I think it's just cruel. Who cares if they're making lots of money? I'm happy for them. I think some people can get jealous of them tbh. But I don't see why, exactly.

Thirdly, you could also argue singers like Adele are selling a lot of singles and albums based on their appearance too, so there's no need to target just attractive females.

Fourthly, some of the poor vocalists are good at other things in music. For example, you've got Ke$ha and Katy Perry who are good song-writers.

Fifhtly (is this actually a word ), they're all nice people, so I don't think it's fair to "slate" them. Just let them do what they do, and enjoy the music if you like it.

I've said this before, but if we have a chart of only the "talented" artists, it'll be pretty much the same as out current chart. It'd literally be the chart we've got now except with Rihanna, Alexandra Stan and J-Lo taken out, and the "untalented" artists are sometimes the ones with the best songs anywway.

I dont think even you are convinced by those words.Yes they are all as bad as our ears tell us they are when attempting to sing live.

People claim Cheryl can't hit a single note, from from this I can hear her hitting a few notes. So therefore, she's not as bad as people say. People really exaggerate how bad a singer she is tbh.
