A fake Moves Like Jagger? I hope that doesn't mean the original is going to be massive. We do not need a Maroon 5 comeback at all thank you. :puke:

We need a Christina Aguilera comeback though!

'Moves Like Jagger' is actually a return to form for Maroon 5. 'Misery' and their last era was a load of $$h!!tt

Oh, it wouldn't be that bad. :kink:

This is basing it on their older material, not Moves Like Jagger though. However, the last time Maroon 5 teamed up with a huge female popstar it turned out very nicely, although I'm far more receptive to her over Christina.

This is without hearing Moves Like Jagger yet.

Moves Like Jagger is the best thing Maroon 5 have ever done (generally not a fan, except This Love, She Will Be Loved, If I Ever See Your Face Again - solely due to the 2nd best female popstar of all time :P - and Makes Me Wonder), and better than all of Bionic except WooHoo, Not Myself Tonight and You Lost Me, so I hope it does do well.

The Maroon 5/Christina Aguilera song spent like 6 days at #1 on US iTunes a few weeks ago when it was released over there. I doubt it will do that well here, but I hope it can go top 20. Whatever happens though, I'm sure it'll do better than Castle Walls!

I actually liked Misery a lot. I was surprised it didn't do better, since I heard it on the radio a lot, and it was on MTV a lot too. It's such a catchy song too.

The success of Rizzle Kicks baffles me. 'Down With The Trumpets' is very poor and their "raps" on Olly's new song are downright DREADFUL. :o (and this is from someone who tries to support the UK music scene)

Olly has a new song!? :o Wasn't he supposed to do a song with Professor Green aswell? He's probably a better rapper, although I think he's less appealing to Olly's fanbase.

He was meant to be Thinking Of Me iirc but it fell through :( I love Olly, I think the duet would've worked quite well tbh.

Olly is releasing his fifth single 'Heart Skips a Beat' in September. Serves as the lead single from his second studio album and features Rizzle Kicks. Music video was released a few days ago, while the premiere was last week on the Chris Moyles Show.

As for Professor Green, the collaboration was supposed to be on 'Thinking of Me', but Green's record label pulled out at the last minute. I wonder if it would've sold as much if Pro' Green was featured on it.

Wow. I'm glad Professor Green didn't rap on Thinking Of Me. I really dislike that song. I think it would've sold more with him though. I can only have increased sales, surely, since there'd still be the non-rap version available.

EDIT: I listened to Heart Skips a Beat! Wow! It's so good! The best thing I've heard from Olly (which isn't difficult, since I haven't liked any of his songs so far ). It sounds really different to everything else in the chart. I hope it does well. And the raps are quite funny imo.

I really wanted to see Olly & Pro Green happen. Hope it can still happen in the future. Rizzle Kicks are a bit of a random feature, surely Olly is big enough to get someone a bit more well-known

I'm glad there's finally someone who agrees with me that 'Down With The Trumpets' is very poor

Two words, Alexandra Burke. :P

Two words, Alexandra Burke. :P

True. Although rappers don't really like to rap on club-pop beats like that, apart from like Pitbull and Flo Rida (and I guess now Snoop Dogg).

It is SUCH a good beat though! One of the best things I've ever heard from RedOne imo.

EDIT: I noticed I was suggesting that Flo Rida and Pitbull are too big to collab with Alexandra Burke, but then I realized she's already collabed with both of them. Silly me. Although it does kind of support my point.

Today's top 100 update

One new entry today and it's another old song rising due to its 59p-age. This time it's Jason Derülo's The Sky's The Limit (re-entering at #99), the flop fifth single from his self-titled début album. Wilson Phillips re-enter at #95 with Hold On, which is also 59p but doesn't seem to be benefitting much since it was around the low top 100 already anyway. Adele and Lady GaGa have dropouts to accommodate these 2 top 100 entries.

Nelly is one of the biggest rappers, heck, biggest artists of our generation! :o

His only hit in the last 6 years is "Just a Dream" from last year. He's hardly one of the biggest rappers, let alone one of the biggest artists of our generation.

Yeah, because we were all born 6 years ago.

It says on Wikipedia that he was the 3rd biggest artist of the DECADE in the US (this is based off album sales, single sales and radio airplay). And the two people higher than him might not even be rappers. If that doesn't qualify you as one of the biggest rappers of our generation, then what does?! :o

As for Judas, it has had poor longevity for a Lady Gaga song, but it's done even worse in some other countries! :o

I'm shocked that it hasn't done better really. I mean, I really don't like the song, but I also hated Poker Face, and that was huge. I can't really understand why they had such massive differences in popularity. You and I should do better I think. It's really differerent to her other songs, and appeals more to people outside of her fanbase (who won't've bought the album yet).

'N Dey Say' was a top 10 hit here and 'Grillz' a #1 in the US, both in 2005 - change it to 'in the last 5 years' and I agree though :kink:

But yeah, as you say, Nelly is not even one of the biggest rappers of the 21st century, let alone artists overall.

He's not exactly had that many hits though. 9 Hot 100 top 10 hits (three of them #1s), one other top 20 hit and a bunch of huge flops. He's probably that high on the list mainly on his (rapidly decreasing with each album) album sales.

Which rappers have been bigger in the 21st Century then?

I posted a list of the biggest-selling rappers of the decade (albums and singles) in the US in another thread, and Nelly was really high up the list.

I don't think other rappers had that many top 10 hits in the Hot 100 either though. I know people make out there was nothing but hip hop and RnB in the charts in the decade until Lady Gaga came along and saved everybody, but I think even the likes of Eminem and 50 Cent didn't do massively better last decade. I think hip hop artists do better with albums in the US than they do with singles.
