Do you know why there was such a gap between 'No Love' (October) and 'Space Bound' (July)?

IMO, Space Bound could have been huge had it been released earlier. :(

Maybe because of the lyrics (i.e. "on a clear night in Juuuuuuuuuuuuune"), they wanted to release the music video in June? I don't know really. If they wanted the song to be popular in June though, the logical thing would've been to start promoting it in April or May, not a few days before June ended.

I think they might've released it a bit earlier, but they were probably shocked at No Love flopping (as was I, I can't understand how nobody would want to buy such a good song), and they didn't want to to clash with I Need a Doctor, probably.

I can't wait for Lighters to get promoted more here. I think it could be another top 20 hit.

I think it's more than likely that B2B will miss going top 10 officially this week :( Especially with all the NOW 79 tracks being combined to others below.

I suspect she'll make it into the very bottom of the top 10 this week as she's been top 5 in the first two sets of midweeks. Unless it tumbles out of the top 30 on iTunes by Saturday or something...

I'm so happy Super Bass finally made it!!!!
Jay-Z & Kanye's 'Watch the Throne' is already number 9 on the albums chart, pre-orders alone! :o

Today's top 100 update (8pm positions)

Ten new entries today, including seven more songs from 'Now That's What I Call Music!, Vol. 79': DJ Fresh feat. Sian Evans' #1 hit 'Louder' (#73), David Guetta feat. Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj's #3 hit 'Where Them Girls At' (#80), Calvin Harris feat. Kelis' #2 hit 'Bounce' (#85), Rihanna's #8 hit 'California King Bed' (#94), Tinchy Stryder and Dappy's #5 hit 'Spaceship' (#95), Nicole Scherzinger's #1 hit 'Don't Hold Your Breath' (#97) and Example's #1 hit 'Changed The Way You Kiss Me' (#99). This brings the total number of Now! entries in the top 100 to sixteen. The other new entries are: 'Otis' by Jay-Z and Kanye West feat. Otis Redding (#47), the second single from the two American rappers' collaborative album 'Watch The Throne', out on Monday; American singer Carole King's 1971 song 'So Far Away' (#75), appearing after its use at Amy Winehouse's funeral; and 'Rain Over Me' (#79), the third official single off American rapper Pitbull's sixth album 'Planet Pit', featuring vocals from Marc Anthony (whose now ex-wife Jennifer Lopez recently also collaborated with Pitbull on her song 'On The Floor'). Friendly Fires also make a re-entry at #100 with 'Hawaiian Air'. Coldplay, Evanescence, Inna, Tracy Chapman, LMFAO, Beyoncé, Birdy, Bruno Mars, The Kooks, DJ Fresh and Coldplay (again) have entries dropping out to accommodate the 11 top 100 entries.

has iTunes reverted, Nicki is shown as #11 and Amy at #7, Pitbull at #8?
Also, this is the first time since I started doing these daily updates that the top 10 has been entirely distinct from the first top 10 (on 29th May 2011) what with Pitbull exiting the top 10 - obviously this probably won't last more than a day as Pitbull will almost certainly re-overtake Amy before 8pm tomorrow.
It was a brutal butchering of Haddaway's 'What Is Love' with no originality, nothing more.

What you really mean is that you don't like it. It's not "brutal", it does "butcher" the song, it definitely has originality. It was one of the (if not THE) least generic songs in the charts at the time.

I think it's a masterpiece personally. The lyrics are INCREDIBLE, and the instrumental is one of the best instrumentals of 2010 imo. Absolutely amazing. I honeslty struggle to comprehend how producers can compose beats like that. It's so good. Dare I say, perfect.

Yes, I think it has reverted.

Jay-Z & Kanye's 'Watch the Throne' is already number 9 on the albums chart, pre-orders alone! :o

:cheer: I've gone hard just reading this. I would love it to get to #1.

Out of interest, would you still consider it to be 'unoriginal' if the (very minor) sample were removed and replaced with Eminem saying the same thing? I get the impression that people sometimes brand songs as unoriginal just because they use a sample which seems stupid. Songs with samples can be just as original and intersting as songs without them if the sampling is done well.

However, I will agree with you that it was a butchering of the sample. Even though it only sampled 6 words of the song ('love' and 'don't hurt me no more'). But those 6 words were sampled very poorly.

Seriously. Who actually cares. Lil Wayne and Eminem wrote hundreds and hundreds of words for that song, and everybody just focuses on like 5 of the words in the chorus. Jeez. Get a grip. :drama:

I thought you'd've liked it anyway. It sounds a bit like Hitz.

That's because those 5 words sound very out of place and it's probably the worst use of a sample I've ever heard and ruins the whole song. The rest of the song is decent enough but not Eminem's or Lil Wayne's best by a long shot. Probably Eminem's worst song to date because of said ruining of the song by the sample.

Worst use of a sample you've ever heard! :o Um, okay. There've been much worse cases of sampling than that. Much, much, much worse. Even outside of hip hop.

Eminem's worst song? I find that a bit ridiculous. His verse is so good. What about something like Just Lose It? Or one of those songs where he doesn't actually say anything.

Sorry. But I find it difficult to fault the song really. If anything, I think Em's lyrics were a little bit too good.

Are you just going to say that or are you going to give an example? I can't think of any songs that have utilised a sample in a more clunky and unappealing way.

I hope "Back To Black" (single) reaches top ten. It's like her best song. It's a shame it's only being noticed now :/

I wouldn't say it was "just getting noticed", just about everyone knows the song and it is a signature song. Sort of in the same way Michael Jackson's 'Man In The Mirror' was really famous despite not peaking within the top 20 until his death.

Without the sample it would've had very little to it at all.

BTB has spent 85 weeks top 200 - 53 of those top 100 and 34 of those top 75 - despite its peak. So it probably has close to, if not more than, the sales of a couple of 2010's lower-selling #1s.
