Erm, I'm pretty sure people did 'give a damn about Amy Winehouse' while she was alive, considering Back To Black has sold over 3 million copies in the UK, over 10 million copies worldwide and won loads of awards. And three or four singles from it have become modern classics, four or five if you count 'Valerie' which was released around the same time. Of course more attention is going to be given to her after she dies... that doesn't mean no one cared about her during her life. See Eva Cassidy for an example of that.

Exactly.

That's ridiculous. Most people are fans of loads of artists. You can't have them all in your signature at the same time! If you're an Amy Winehouse fan, now is an appropriate time, as a sort of tribute imo.

For example, I've got Jay-Z and Kanye in my sig now, because they're releasing an album soon. I've liked them for years really, but now is a good time to sig them.

Exactly!

I'm so pissed off with such bitter people going around 'No-one cared about her before she died' HOW THE f*** IS THAT TRUE? She hasnt released anything in years she was hardly going to be spoken about was she?! Now she has died she is in the forefront for her music and more exposure, and people being reminded of songs and then getting them in their head and downloading them. This 'bandwagon' thing is ridiculous, if anything all the people going round saying people are jumping on a bandwagon they are the ones jumping on a bandwagon - of bitterness! -_-

Why would you have a go at someone because of their sig?, especially in these circumstances. I dont understand some people these days.

No-one's stupid enough to buy something just because someone's dead, it's just her death has reminded people of her music, and they probably then thought 'oh, I've always loved this song, might have to buy it now actually' then maybe they'll delve a bit further into her material and buy the album(s). No-one's jumping on any bandwagon, how stupidly naive do you have to be to buy a song that everyone else is buying or just because they're dead, unless you like the song and want to buy it...
If you exclude the part about you loving the JLS song and how you want it to be #1, I completely agree with this post.

It's actually quite hilarious seeing people have Amy Winehouse in their signatures now yet she was nowhere to be seen before she died.

lol i know JLS not everyones cup of tea ;-) but like you mentioned "hilarious seeing people have Amy Winehouse in their signatures now yet she was nowhere to be seen before she died." And yes she sold alot and won grammys for her back to black album noone is denying that. Im talking about amy winehouse recently before she died, where was the media/people love in? all i ever read was that she was a crack head bla bla bla thats what i call hypocrites.

noone is denying her "true fans" the way they feel about amy winehouse but im talking about the bandwagons and you know this is true, coz those people werent checking for her before she died.

Just want to say I also totally agree with you.

Well we've just been told it's 'hilarious' to have her as a signature, so yeah we kind of are...

lol. This reminds me of those ethical discussions everybody used to have in R.E. lessons at school. :drama:

No, its not true. cant you understand not everyone thinks like you. and why does it matter to you what other people do?...its not harming you.

You just come across as lacking much self-awareness to be honest.

F**k Me Pumps out of the top 300. So four of her top 300 entries have fallen, the rest are still climbing (apart from the top 3 which are non-movers).

Hopefully Magnetic Man will be top 100 very soon :D Maverick isn't climbing very quickly any more, maybe he won't go top 10 then...

this signature thing surely if you were truly their fan then you would have it before that artist died right?

Because everyone is only a fan of one artist even when said artist hasn't released anything for nearly 4 years.

Basically what Bre said. She is one of my fave singers, but I'm wasn't going to have her as my signature when she's not released a thing for 3 years, just in case she died...

You're coming across really badly right now.

I'm a fan of so many different artists and bands and atm only have one singer in my signature. What is your point? Actually wait dont answer that you clearly dont have one. :coffee:

Does that mean Bre isn't a true fan of any artists/ music then and only a fan of shrimps?

Seriously do you read back what you write?

Erm twisting my words, much.

Fair enough if you were a big fan before her death but there's no denying that some people do jump on the bandwagon - which I would personally find far more disrespectful and offensive than continuing to not like the artist.

Anyway just because a hugely popular/tragic artist died (which I am very sad about), it doesn't mean everyone can become all melodramatic etc. -_-

No your right "its not true" that you can say would be a typo. however you cannot say that i come across as lacking much self-awareness everyone has their opinion if you read my first post then you would know that i said "this is my opinion of course" everyone is going to have opinions about certain artist whether you or me like it or not. MJ was my idol yet you had people slating him and of course im not going to take that lying down. My comments are for those who didnt think much of amy winehouse and calling her names who are suddenly the same people that are calling her "legend". Because trust me you had people who were hating on michael jackson (even the media) and suddenly they worship him that is what i hate #HYPOCRITES

THIS!

It's the same with Jade Goody, MJ (as you've said) and many more.

The Michael Jackson bandwagon-jumping annoyed me especially! I bet many of the people who were saying things like "OMG I cried when MJ died! :(" were the ones who previously took the p*** out of his physical appearance and paedophile claims.

MJ was my idol

Are you sure? You don't have him in your signature... ;)

Maybe *some* people are 'bandwagoning' but the way you said it implied everyone was.

Besides, you can hate an artist for their personal life and love them for their music and when artists die they are judged on their music and influence on other artists. Apart from by some people who continue to hate them for their personal life which is IMO stupid because they're basically saying that just because she did a lot of drugs and drinking all her music and influence on future music is invalid. (It's fair enough if people genuinely don't like the music obviously though, no artist is universally liked)

And there *are* a lot of people who still hate Amy for her personal life. They just don't get covered by the media because the media (rightfully) want to portray Amy as the musical icon she is/was.

An artist's personal life ends when they die. Their music and influence lives on forever which is why people often 'forgive' artists for their wrongdoings after their death. Same as how everyone stopped accusing MJ of being a paedophile after his death. He may have done it, he may not have. Does it matter? The man made some fantastic music and was one of the most influential artists... well, ever. And that's what he should be remembered for, not some stupid court case. And the same applies to Amy.

The MJ was incredibly annoying, we can agree on one thing at least! All my friends at school took the p*** out of him then said they were really upset when he died and they cried and would buy his albums.
