Why does Back To Black keep being referred to as 'B2B'? What's wrong with 'BTB'?

What's wrong with 'Back To Black'? It's not that long a title. :P

Anyway, I need to hear Six-D. That title sounds really intriguing.

That too :P

You really don't, it's extremely subpar.

She is not yet I would say. That's because she is more mainstream and less special. Amy had all this Emo thing going on and was more of an artistic appearence and character overall. Plus had therefore all this negative and postive publishity following her around. Musically I think 21 is close to Back to Black. Two of the best british talents of the decade (if not the two best). :cheer:

I don't think her songs have been no1 in many countries to be fair. Especially SFTTR mustnot have achieved that anywhere. But even RITD must only have the no1 of the US and SLY the UK one and perhaps a FEW more.

Adele has had MASSIVE chart success in most countries, with the singles aswell.

Set Fire to the Rain was released months ago in some countries, because it was the 2nd single in a lot of places. And Someone Like You has recently got to #1 in Australia and New Zealand. And Turning Tables has even charted in a few other countries too. And Rumour Has It is probably going to chart in the US in a few weeks aswell.

I'm 100% sure SFTTR has got to #1 in more than one country. If I have a moment later on I might post the countries, but it definitely has. In a few countries in Europe. Infact, in one country, Rolling in the Deep and SFTTR were #1 consecutively.

To sum up, Adele is doing fantastically in the singles charts pretty much everwhere.

Rolling In The Deep was a massive smash worldwide, Someone Like You has been huge in all the territories it's got a release in and Set Fire To The Rain was huge in a few European countries and big elsewhere as well.

Adele is certainly more successful with her albums (especially 21) but she is also a huge singles seller.

Rolling in the Deep is possibly even the best-selling song of the year, in the world! :o It's either got to be that or Born This Way, surely.

(edited the rest since it is not relevan any more  )

On the Floor could be the best seller of the year, it is the biggest worldwide hit chartwise (by a mile)

Adelle's enourmous US sales could give her the edge?

I believe it's still Born This Way with RITD second. I may be wrong about this though...

Has Rolling In The Deep outsold Born This Way in Ameirca yet? Btw dropped quite quick didin't it!

It passed Born This Way ages ago and about 2 weeks ago (or around that) it surpassed E.T. to become the highest selling song of the year so far.

Which means Adele is in a position where not only could she top the year end songs and albums charts in both the UK and the US, she could do it with a different song in each of the two :o

That too :P

Based on my first listen, I call either 'a track which I will become temporarily obsessed with and think is rather average later' or 'Meh'. Depends on my mood. No masterpiece in any case.

The title only intrigued me because it made me think of 'The Best Night Ever' (Pony series finale title, for my sins :D)

At least that's what I think it was. I can't think of any other reason. <_>

I'm sorry but I don't believe that. Many British singers have been successful worldwide, Amy wasn't the first. Would other female singers be successful if Amy hadn't done it first? Probably.

In the US specifically, Amy broke the mould. Before she arrived, for the entire 21st century, if you were female and you wanted to break through in the States, you had to be singing identikit Kelly Clarkson or Rihanna-style pop and look great, or, in rare exceptions, you could get away with more singer-songwriter-y stuff as long as your personality was bland as and you paid tribute to the President at all possible times (see Norah Jones, Carrie Underwood) ... Amy was the first female artist in a long time to break through in the States to break through with an unconventional look and sound and personality, and she definitely paved the way for Adele and Duffy. (Leona probably would've been big regardless, but that's because she was singing a song that was right off the American Pop production line - and she pretty much sunk without trace after 'Bleeding Love' there anyway.)

Also, if Adele were to die in the next few years (and I already feel dirty from writing those words, so I'll try to keep this as brief as possible), it wouldn't have anywhere near as much impact as Amy's death has done. As much as I like Adele, her music is very safe and relatively speaking more cookie-cutter (and, in fairness, she doesn't pretend that it isn't), unlike Amy who had a huge influence on music for years afterwards.

Adele has re overtaken Nicki :arrr:

The battle between those two just isn't going to stop, is it?

EDIT: Only TWO songs are "album only" from the Now album. (This could change throughout the week though...) They are Adele 'Someone Like You' and Bruno Mars 'The Lazy Song'. No sad losses really  They've had their time haha.

The top 10 most cherry picked tracks 2 hours in, are:

01. Alexandra Stan 'Mr Saxobeat' :puke:

02. Pitbull feat. Ne-Yo, Nayer & Afrojack 'Give Me Everything (Tonight)'

03. David Guetta feat. Flo-Rida & Nicki Minaj 'Where Them Girls At?'

04. Snoop Dogg feat. David Guetta 'Sweat'

05. Swedish House Mafia 'Save the World'

06. Jennifer Lopez 'On the Floor'

07. Wynter Gordon 'Dirty Talk'

08. The Wanted 'Glad You Came'

09. The Black Eyed Peas 'Just Can't Get Enough'

10. Rihanna 'California King Bed'

It's annoying seeing Mr. Saxobeat first. And I bet it's going to be on like a million other compilation albums in the next few months aswell. :drama:

It's FABULOUS IMHO. Back in the top 10 pls  Though it does suggest they'll delay releasing Get Back ASAP till November :(

I think Amy had a better voice than Adele. Amys voice was so different!
Amy's entries are still (mostly) climbing :D I thought they'd be starting to plummet a bit by now.

Back To Black  #6.

Rehab - #25

Tears Dry On Their Own #26

Love is a Losing Game #32

You Know I'm No Good #34

Valerie #42 & #47

6 top 40 entries, could they all make it officially on Sunday? :o

Set Fire To The Rain  #12, hopefully back to #11 soon, and then top 10 this week perhaps? Bounce, Last Friday Night & Give Me Everything can all leave top 10 now had their time!

Changed Way You Kissed Me  #15 already..

I don't get why 'The Edge of Glory' is so high in the official charts, it's only 28 & 156 in iTunes, and she's been there at least late Saturday too... Yet she's still #14 officially, and would've been #13 if it wasn't for Aloe Blacc price reduce.

Hopefully Wino gets top-5! Not only it's a great tribute, but also we'll have all-British top-5.
