10. Give Me Everything (feat. Ne-Yo, Afrojack & Nayer) - Pitbull

11. Set Fire to the Rain - ADELE

Adele won't overtake, but I'm not sure if I want it to or not...

POSITIVES:

It deserves to be top 10.

It'll raise the British population of the top 10 to 80%.

NEGATIVES:

It'd thwart Pitbull's progress towards beating the top 10 weeks of 'Party Rock Anthem'.

It would actually be pretty cool for a song to have three weeks at #11 without going higher. (Although Nicki will probably be #11 this week anyway)

I think that's simply just because the song is much stronger than most of their others (e.g. particularly Gold Forever and Heart Vacancy).

Can't be all that, otherwise Lose Your Mind would have been by far their biggest hit (ignoring the fact it was a post-album single, kay?)

Glad You Came is on a par with All Time Low, imo, so it makes sense that those are their number 1s.

By releasing a song with genuine widespread appeal outside their core fanbase. Happens to most pop acts once or twice in their career - Steps - Tragedy, S Club 7 - Don't Stop Movin', Eternal - I Wanna Be The Only One, Boyzone - No Matter What, Westlife - You Raise Me Up (you could argue Flying Without Wings from a legacy point of view but YRMU had FAR more longevity than Westlife had ever seen before) etc...

Since when does Glad You Came have 'genuine widespread appeal outside their core fanbase'? (Although it obviously does so you can ignore that question, I just don't see where it came from  It's their best song but not remarkably different to anything they did before IMO, so it's weird they're only 'blowing up' so to speak now)

You know, that list is scary, most of those are pop classics. I wonder if Glad You Came will be considered that soon (I don't want to think about it, but that's not because I don't like the song, it's just too soon to think about that)

Glad You Came has been marketed very well, its received a lot of airplay and promotion leading up to the week of release, plus its a far stronger song than Gold Forever and Heart Vacancy that would probably reach a wider audience, GF didn't recieve anywhere near the level of promotion anyway

I still think Glad You Came will outlast and be a bigger hit than She Makes Me Wanna anyway, although that will probably get bigger first week sales

I actually have a feeling She Makes Me Wanna could stick around for a while.

Oh gosh, I hope not!

Although, it seems like literally everything in the charts "stays around for a while" now, so it probably will.

I meant in the top 3/5, not in the top 40.

Have any of JLS song's hung around long? Even with x-factor performances? I cant remember there chart runs haha.

I think I cried a little reading that :(

Not really, but none of The Wanted's songs had spent more than one week top 3 before Glad You Came either.

'Beat Again' spent 5 weeks top 10 (4 of those top 5) = 1-1-2-4-7

'Everybody In Love' spent 3 weeks top 10 (2 of those top 5) = 1-3-6

'One Shot' spent 5 non-conescutive weeks top 10 (peaked at #6) = 10-6-8-7-x-10

'The Club Is Alive' spent 3 weeks top 10 (only 1 top 5) = 1-7-9

'Love You More' spent 3 weeks top 10 (2 of those top 5) = 1-3-10

'Eyes Wide Shut' spent 3 non-consecutive weeks top 10 (peaked at #8) = 10-10-x-x-x-8

I wouldn't be surprised if SMMW broke their records for both top 10 weeks and top 5 weeks. The dead release schedule helps. But I guess we'll find out anyway :P

The Stereo Love esque sound for one opens it up to a whole new audience. I'm not saying it's destined to be a pop classic but it could quite easily be their finest hour when everything's said and done. I like it far more than anything they've done before.

Stereo Love? I don't hear that at all. Then again I haven't heard Stereo Love for a while...

Stereo Love was the first thing Tom and I said when we heard it.

It is very Romanian dance.

Seriously? It sounds like the obvious inspiration to the song for me.

I never thought I'd hear a British boyband adopt the Romanian dance sound! Far more refreshing than ripping off US club bangers, as everyone else does these days.

I'd also say the Stereo Love-esqueness in Glad You Came is quite apparent! They sound quite similar, just Glad You Came is more poppy.

Stereo Love was the first song I thought of when I heard Glad You Came as well. I'd say it's probably my fave of theirs:

1. Glad You Came (9/10)

2. Heart Vacancy (9/10

3. Lose My Mind (8/10

4. All Time Low (7.5/10)

5. Gold Forever (5/10)

Glad You Came >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> All Time Low >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lose My Mind >>>>>>>>> Heart Vacancy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Gold Forever

Yep, it's 100% Stereo Love crossed with All Time Low. Their best song so far by miles IMHO, although I haven't got around to buying it yet...

Reading back the 'Glad You Came' thread in the Pop forum it got a fairly negative to average reception at first. That's part of the reason I'm surprised at its success I suppose... (although admittedly it has become much more liked on here since that thread started)

And JakeyShake is officially a fortune teller:

I have a feeling this will do very well in the summer. I can see it being number one for at least 2 weeks.

:o

There were also a handful of comments along the lines of 'sounds the same as all their other songs' so I'm not alone in thinking that.

I wonder if their next single will have similar success? Although it'll probably end up being another shitty ballad so more likely to enter at 1 or 2 then plummet...
