BTB isn't #29, it's #14.

 I was gonna say, I take my eye off iTunes/Buzzjack for an hour and a half or so and she falls all that way!

I thought it was her, wasn't sure though

It's a bit different, since Pitbull has been in the top 10 for 3 months, and Adele has been in the top 10 for a few hours.

Few hours in the top 10, 5 months in the top 40

Few hours in the top 10, 5 months in the top 40

And Set Fire to the Rain has been in the top 200 for 6 months. I think I'm missing your point.

Pumped Up Kicks is all the way back up to #25 :D I wonder why it decided to drop out of the top 40 entirely at the beginning of the week before promptly returning to near its peak?

Space Bound up to #32, looking likely it could outpeak No Love - and rightfully too. It really shows just how unpopular that song is that it can be outpeaked by the next single, released 9 months later and without the album getting a re-release.

Nationality breakdown of the current iTunes top 40 (lead artists):

19 UK

14 USA

2 France

2 Romania

1 Barbados

1 Spain

1 Trinidad & Tobago

Yes, the top 40 is officially nearly half by British acts.

I remember the days when Sweden were the third biggest chart force behind the UK/US, now it seems that it's Romania of all places - can't say I'd have predicted that five years ago

The celebration of a fresh song making the top 10, even though its been about for 6 months. It doesnt make sense.

imo its better a song getting a new peak in the top 10 than a song that's already peaked and is hanging around the top 10 for ages

07 Nicki Minaj 'Super Bass'

10 Adele 'Set Fire to the Rain'

11 David Guetta ft. Taio Cruz & Ludacris 'Little Bad Girl'

21 Tinie Tempah ft. Wiz Khalifa 'Till I'm Gone'

25 Foster the People 'Pumped Up Kicks'

32 Eminem 'Space Bound'

41 Jay-Z & Kanye West ft. Otis Redding 'Otis'

46 Magnetic Man ft. P Money 'Anthemic'

52 Benny Benassi ft. Gary Go 'Cinema'

Not one of these fails to make me happy. Minaj will no doubt crack the T10 come Sunday!

I don't think there is a clear third biggest force, it's just UK/US in the top 2 and 'every other country' after that.

Let's do a nationality breakdown of the current full top 100 (official, not iTunes) :P

44 USA

38 UK

4 Barbados

3 France

3 Netherlands

3 Sweden

2 Romania

1 Ireland

1 Spain

1 Trinidad & Tobago

Based on that it's Barbados that's the 'third force' - but this is obviously misleading as all 4 are by Rihanna who may as well be American (and the Trinidadian is Nicki Minaj who is also basically American, so you could say there are 49 US entries)

So we go to the three countries with 3. France suffers from the same thing in that all 3 of its entries are by the same artist - David Guetta. For Sweden, Swedish House Mafia make up 2 of the 3 entries (with Robyn being the third).

So logically the third force is bizarrely Netherlands at the moment, at least in terms of current top 100 entries - Vato Gonzalez, Laidback Luke and Caro Emerald are all Dutch.

But as I say, I'd say the three chart 'forces' nationality-wise are just US, UK and 'other' with a current 44/38/18 split.

Well, that's because it's "new" to most of the mainstream (although Adele's album has been so big, it probably isn't new to people, but usually that's the case). You could say the same about Last Friday Night. It was in and out of the top 1000 for almost a year before it got into the top 10. But it's "new" in that it's new to the higher end of the chart.

But ultimately, I think if a song spends ages in the top 10, unless I absolutely love it, I'll probably just be happy for anything to knock it out.

Hmm, iTunes itself seems to be ridiculously behind at the moment, so I'm going to push today's update back to 8:30 and if iTunes is still messed up I'll do it from the feed.

Looks like I'll have to do today's update off the feed as iTunes is refusing to update and it's reverted further back than it was at the time of yesterday's update (it has Amy at #7 and all the Now! tracks really low). The feed is working perfectly fine though.

So yes, update coming up at around 8:45 ish :P

 10. Little Bad Girl (feat. Taio Cruz & Ludacris) - David Guetta

 11. Set Fire to the Rain - ADELE

Well... bollocks. Why couldn't you just overtake Bounce, Adele? You'd BETTER get back in that top 10 IMMEDIATELY.

(Top 100 update coming up anyway)
