Thanks - I couldn't even google them using '1d'.

Bloody XF gets everywhere though - I wonder if I could raise one of those e-petitions to get it banned? :P

I'm thinking none of the ladies will be number 1 September 4th, it'll be:

1. Example/Ed Sheeran

2. Whichever one doesn't get number 1

3. The Saturdays

4. Pixie

5. Leona

If I had my way it'd be:

1. The Saturdays

2. Pixie

3. Ed

4. Example

-------------------

8. Leona

But Example & Ed Sheeran release the week *before* this.

I know, I just think they'll hold up and beat the new releases.

I know, I just think they'll hold up and beat the new releases.

Given how front-loaded their sales are likely to be, I can't see that happening.

Example's last single wasn't so front loaded that it sold a decent amount (75k) on it's second week at #1, which if going by that form Leona, Saturdays and Pixie would do incredibly well to beat. And Ed Sheeran's sold almost exactly 50k (give or take a few thousand) of The A Team for the last 7 weeks running, so I don't see that he will be especially front loaded either. I reckon they'll both register decent second week sales and quite possibly enough to see off all of the new releases. I just can't imagine any of them shifting over 75k but stranger things have happened.

Frontloaded based on what?

Ed Sheeran is still top 5 with his previous single and Example managed 4 weeks in the top 2 with CTWYKM...

I think it should be banned as it is corrupt and a bad influence towards the music industry. Leona and One Direction will have rigged sales as Simon Cowell manipulates the charts and is a Cameron supporter so he can get away with it.

People are blind and silly to think that the XF songs get there on their own merit.

Oh, don't be so ridicilous. I do think the XF is too much of a machine, but if it was like that, do you think Leona would have missed #1 with 'Happy' and the top 10 with 'I Got You'. Some people get lost in their hate for XF.

Really impressive for Christina Perri going top 10 with the power of the 59p download. :D

JLS back at no. 1 on iTunes sort of amuses me - Cher Lloyd's sales must have really nosedived in the last 24 hours. Looks like 'Swagger Jagger' is looking most likely to become the first genuine non #1 of the year. Who'd have thought 'She Makes Me Wanna' would end up holding up better.

All those who predicted Nero 'Promises' to be #1 a few weeks back could well end up being correct. I've heard about this Amy Winehouse & Tony Bennett charity single but in the UK at least I just don't see it going anywhere near the no. 1 spot - top 20 is where I see the song charting, and I've not even heard it. It's just my gut feeling.

Based on selling lots of copies on week 1.

That was Ed Sheeran's breakthrough single - he didn't have the fanbase before that to frontload it. In Example's case, it is a previously unreleased song by an established artist, and those are always front-loaded (when not OAOS).

But the point is the sales held up and were strong in the continuing weeks - so there is nothing to not assume that wont happen with their next releases - sure you could argue that Ed Sheeran might not see the same sort of longevity as TAT was the break through single - however considering what type of artist he is, I can see YNMIDNY still having strong sales in its second week.

The challengers are all in kind of unknown territory with regards their sales; Pixie hasn't released anything in a while; like Leona, the last Saturdays single didn't sell that well - despite constant price slashing and the Sugababes aren'texactly in vogue at the moment.

I would say the 2nd week sales of both Example and Ed Sheeran may still be enough to stay in the top 2 - both have had a good year already - and yes the sales will drop off compared to the 1st week; but no doubt will still be selling well

i think dappy could get a week at number with no regrets its out the 19th september and the video just came out
:)

No he won't, because he's a twat. Mind you, that's not stopping Cheryl Lloyd, barring a last minute miracle..

People are blind and silly to believe me.

Just thought I'd edit that for you.

I'm not so sure about Dappy getting to #1. 'Spaceship' didn't exactly do well (though this new one is supposed to be a lot better), and One Direction could well be hanging on for a second week. Then we've got to think of releases that we don't even know about yet.

As for Example & Ed, I have no idea about the order of the chart battle but the sales for the whole top 5 should be very good. I'd say Pixie has more chance than The Saturdays though, and we can't be certain what exactly is happening with Leona...
