August 17, 201114 yr I'm surprised Charlie Simpson is holding up well in top 5. He's got 2 version out - one at 8 and one at 11 (on itunes that is... thats where they were last night).... I'd be surprised he he stays top 5 all week though - hopefully stay top 10 though :)
August 17, 201114 yr Author I think everything looks about right now in the singles and album chart after MW had a wardrobe malfunction yesterday, I think the update was a bit iffy, Modestep did look pretty high yesterday for some reason. I think we ended up with a duff update yesterday. We see later when Radio 1 announces their chart update this afternoon.

August 17, 201114 yr I don't think Modestep being #6 was an error. Reminds me of the Gramophonedzie situation.
August 17, 201114 yr Lady Gaga 10 + 7 'Born This Way' was at #7 on Sunday and 'The Fame Monster' was at #23 - so either she's climbed with [TFM] or had an incredible fall with [bTW]. I'm hoping the latter, the album was extremely disappointing upon first listen; with only the select tracks standing out as half-decent. Glad to see Nero at #1 on the album chart though - that'd mean they not only beat bosses Chase & Status to a #1 single, but also beat them to a #1 album. Also pleased to see The Throne at #3 - although I imagine Amy Winehouse will receive a weekend boost, so it's more likely to fall to #4 (but remaining in the T5 none-the-less is still an achievement).
August 17, 201114 yr Gaga was at #9 on sunday's official chart not #7. She's been climbing consistently on itunes too (from the 80s earlier in the week to the 50s today) so I think she will be higher on sundays official chart even though itunes is a tiny part of the album chart...maybe 14 or 15 which is not too bad going in her 13th week! Not everyone can be Adele and people need to get used to this...gaga has always been a small consistent seller rather than having big week after big week. She's doing very well considering sales are in the toilet lately. The album market this year has basically been The good - Adele, gaga's first week...The bad - everything else. You and I has just premiered aswell which will keep BTW selling.
August 17, 201114 yr At the beginning of Radio 1's Chart Update. Greg James was talking about Cher Lloyd being knocked off the No1 spot by Nero. Instead of saying 'Swagger Jagger' he said 'Shagger Jagger' Dev at 36 on the chart update
August 17, 201114 yr good to see Nero at number 1 :D guess there must have been something wrong with the update yesterday if they were at 3, an unusually large drop for Modestep though, the only reason I can think of is that it must've had big pre-orders or there was data missing
August 17, 201114 yr Sorry if these sales have already been posted. Source Music week Charlie Simpson The album was yesterday showing up as a new entry at number five in the week’s first sales flashes with 4,663 copies sold. More than 55% of these sales were achieved with physical product.
August 18, 201114 yr It just proves that artists like christina aguilera or maroon 5 dont become boring because they've been around a long time and seem to fade away because of lack of interest. The problem is the songs they release.
August 18, 201114 yr It's so odd seeing three new entries all looking to debut at #1, #2 and #3. As much as I enjoy it, August and September releases are going to have huge consequences on the chart runs on these singles. I mean Nero's 'Promises' is already set to slide to #4 on Sunday - and new releases from Calvin Harris and Olly Murs next week could push it all the way to #6 - then there's Ed Sheeran and Example the week after etc. I think a single will be lucky to get 5 weeks in the T10 these coming months - and considering most of them are from UK acts; it's a bit worrying. Am I missing the point here or why do you care about chart runs? It's sales that matter. So what if Nero is at 6 next week if it still sells 30,000 it'll be just fine. You'd rather have a single at number 2 selling the same amount? (the numbers are purely theoretical)
