It's so odd seeing three new entries all looking to debut at #1, #2 and #3.

As much as I enjoy it, August and September releases are going to have huge consequences on the chart runs on these singles. I mean Nero's 'Promises' is already set to slide to #4 on Sunday - and new releases from Calvin Harris and Olly Murs next week could push it all the way to #6 - then there's Ed Sheeran and Example the week after etc. I think a single will be lucky to get 5 weeks in the T10 these coming months - and considering most of them are from UK acts; it's a bit worrying.

Although I adore 'Moves Like Jagger', I'd much rather Nero fall to #3 - only so it can accumulate some sales before beginning a larger descent down the chart - the first week sales weren't THAT good to ensure it'd beat the sales of 'Guilt' and 'Me & You' - both of which are ~140/150k.

As for the albums chart - I'd pre-ordered Nero's 'Welcome Reality' - so I've got that to look forward to when I return from holiday. Hopefully it can hold up a top 5 position - Charlie Simpson will no doubt fall to about #12 and Kids in Glass Houses to about #17. Not overly pleased about Adele reclaiming the #1 spot - but The Throne looking to CLIMB a place is just great news.

I still don't know which version of the album mids is correct - is Adele #1, or Nero??

If album sales are still as low as last week, I'd say Nero were more likely to be #1 as of Tuesday - based on the fact that there are two digital versions to buy - increasing sales; plus fans are likely to have pre-ordered/bought on the first day. I'd be shocked if The Throne was ahead of Nero - it's a digital album only at the moment; so should have dropped sales if anything.

I reckon the order of the T5 on Tuesday was: Nero-Adele-TheThrone-AmyWinehouse-CharlieSimpson. Hopefully the BBC Update will help clear things up.

Wtf? Nero are supposedly #1 yet they're at #3 in the update again...

Maybe a typo from Martin?

Joe Jonas has gone from the 40, Modestep has suddenly nosedived a bit.

As for the albums, top 5 is fairly the same as yesterday apart from the MW hiccup. I'm surprised Charlie Simpson is holding up well in top 5.

So Adele is at #1? Confused!

Sorted now, I copied yesterday's top 5 template forgot to tweak them a bit.

Much better :D

And I'm glad to see Joe Jonas and Modestep falling too! ^_^

No old songs climbing in the top 40.... Is it me or is that unusual?

A bit - but when everything else is pushed down three places to start off with...

Ouch, massive flop for Joe Jonas there...I'm not massively keen on the song so not that bothered but I thought that it could go top 20/30 at least with the support that it's had.

Pleased to see Nero's album at #1 :D Although nice to see Adele continuing her top 2 run...

True, however when Calvin, Ed and Tinchy all entered in the top 5 there were still a couple of older songs climbing. Still, it can all change by Sunday yet.

Well, it's great to see Nero do seem to be #1 :o I wonder what was going on with yesterday's update? On the other hand not pleased at the drops for Modestep and Joe Jonas... (although #12 is around where I expected Modestep to be yesterday anyway)

A few weeks ago (W/E 23/07/2011) the only climbers were Beyoncé going back up to #4 in her third week, Adele - SFTTR climbing to a new peak of #11, Nicki Minaj climbing back up to her previous peak of #12, Chris & Justin climbing to a new peak of #20, Foster The People climbing back to their peak of #27 and Enrique/Usher/Wayne climbing back up to #32 on their third week top 40. I suppose it depends on your definition of 'old' but I don't think it's *that* unusual.
