I like the novel. :o We had to study it for class. Am very interested to see how a film adaptation works out.
I'm very excited for this, I saw the play in London at the end of last year and it was brilliant, but probably the most terrifying play I've ever seen.
I can take a guy in a mask or a monster any day but a little toy monkey playing the symbols by itself freaks me the hell out! Does look really good though will definitely be going to see this.
I'm more concerned that Daniel Radcliffe looks grown up in this??
OH SHIT the doll that came up in the first 10 seconds of that trailer scared the f*** out of me and I turned it off. Crazy shit.
i've seen the play and it's incredible, one of the few things (our of many) i've seen on stage that is done so well it literally frightens you and I just can't see how a film adaption can bring out the same audience response as the play does. that said it does look pretty good, but i don't think the story is particulary great, just the way i've seen it done is, i think part of the problem is everyone will just be seeing this because of Daniel Radcliffe and the rest of the film will be overshadowed by his performance.
I saw the trailer for this when I saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II and it looked really good. It would probably scare the crap out of me though, so I might wait until it's out on DVD before I watch it. :teresa:

I saw the play many years ago near the start of its marathon run. It started the same year Daniel Radcliffe was born :o

The play was great so the film has got a lot to live up to.

Watched the play last October with my English class, I wasn't expecting to be scared at all. No film has terrified me more and we were front row - being chocked by the smoke machine was a particular hightlight

No way will the film be as effective, but I am interested in seeing what they do with it, my mum is a massive fan of the book (and ghost stories in general) so I will probably end up seeing it in the cinema.

I'm going to see the play tonight! :D I'm worried

You'll definitely get quite a few scares, but the play overall is just fantastic! Have fun. :D

That was the most fucking intense thing I have ever seen. Seriously. I'm still shaking now and it finished at least an hour and a half ago! Fantastic acting and production with the very little they had. I HAVE to see the film now!

GAH. I really wanna see this play! I need to be terrified in the same way as I was terrified during the first time I saw 'Paranormal Activity'! I heard the play is genuinely terrifying and I'm supposed to be seeing it with some friends. Hopefully we can see it soon. (Preferably before the film, but I'm not really fussed when, just as long as I see it.)

Not sure about the film, the only thing that puts me off (and I say this as a Harry Potter (the films) fan) is Daniel Radcliffe. I think he's a weak actor and a little wooden in comparison to everyone else in the HP films (at least). Hopefully he's better in this as he does have potential.

Decent film. Daniel Radcliffe is well cast

It works in a really busy cinema, which is how i saw it :D

Not really worth watching a second time though

Literally everyone I know is talking about it! I went to go see it on Sunday and I thought it was great! Not as scary as the play but still terrifying enough :drama:

I was shitting bricks. But that's because I have a fear of victorian children and old china toys/dolls.

The acting was ok. Typical ghost story, always looking for cheap scares. Which do happen.

I went to see it earlier today. I really liked it, but I can't help but feel a bit disappointed. It wasn't anywhere near as good as the play, but it was still good.

Aye it worked well in a packed cinema. Same as I imagine Paranormal Activity would. I wasn't as on edge as I thought it would be though. Only really jumped at the bit with the hand print on the window but I thought it was pretty decent overall.
