I guessed either Example or Ed would be number 1 by Tuesday... Shame, I'm not feeling this new Example one, would have rather had Ed at #1 as the song is so different to his previous one. :(

:w00t: Example at number one!!! I hope it can get there officially, I'm guessing Olly will be no.1 in the first midweeks and then Example will overtake :) Example deserves this as it will be the first good number one since Nero, and we've got some crap from Pixie Lott and One Direction coming up soon :manson:

Also, is it only me or have the previews on iTunes gone up to 1:30 rather than the normal 30 seconds?!

If I was to play a UK version of one of Inna's songs, pretty much the whole song would be in the preview!

There was a whole thread about this some time ago... Yeah, all songs over 2 and a half minutes have a 1:30 preview. Short songs have the normal 30 seconds :)

Example finally number 1 - told you guys it would get there eventually! :P (didn't half take his time though  ), Ed has a bit of a way to climb to top 3, hopefully he can manage it although I can see it behind Moves Like Jagger officially
Adele - Someone Like You is number one on Usa iTunes climbing a massive 30places from last nights performance.

It didn't climb 30 places. It was #12 on US iTunes before the performance, so it climbed 11 places.

Love On Top by Beyonce up to #137! :o Now, that song DID climb over 30 places on US iTunes (infact, it climbed over 1000 places ).

Another boring no.1 this week then.
That's faint praise if ever I saw it, they couldn't possibly have got any worse.

I suppose, july and early august up to swagger jagger were the absolute nadir. I haven't seen a worst and most boring part of a year in music as that in a very long time if you get what I mean.

I think practically the whole of February to July of this year pretty much sucked tbh. :( It's got so much better all of a sudden though, at least in my opinion. Probably because On the Floor, Don't Hold Your Breath, Born This Way and S&M are all FINALLY out of the top 40. :drama:

I see this is an unpopular opinion but IMO 'Stay Awake' is by far the best #1 of 2011 (assuming it does get there) and the best #1 since 'Viva La Vida'. (I said that about 'What's My Name?' before but I've gone off that a bit, so Example is taking that title from 'I'm Not Alone' now)

I can see where you're coming from, the faster pace chart does make it more interesting but nothing came out that was of interest to me personally and the majority of songs that did do well, such as she makes me wanna and swagger jagger really aren't my cup of tea. For me, from april to the end of june/early july was my favourite part of the year so far although it is clearly not on a patch with 2009 and 2010.

My favourite #1 of the year is still What's My Name?, but Promises, Heart Skips a Beart, Stay Awake and Changed the Way You Kissed Me would make up the rest of my top 5. I can't believe some of the utter tripe that got #1 earlier in the year. Appalling. :puke:

Don't worry. I didn't like She Makes Me Wanna either (I'm sure I've hated on this song like a million times already, but it honestly is absolutely dreadful. I can't quite understand RedOne. Does he actually LISTEN to his songs before putting them out? How can he give a song like that out to another artist, and be proud of it? Weird man. Absolute joke tbh).

At the moment for me, my top 5 for number ones would probably be on the floor, grenade, changed the way you kiss me, price tag and give me everything although for everyone else I'm sure songs like grenade and give me everything would be in a lot of buzzjackers worst 5 number ones of the year :P
Stay Awake is one of worse number 1s of 2011 for me :( It's bearable, it got boring quickly though.
I think we did a rate of the #1s in the iTunes thread a while ago, and Don't Hold Your Breath won. I can't remember what lost though. Although I imagine if we did one now, the bottom 5 would be Grenade, Party Rock Anthem, Swagger Jagger, Give Me Everything and The Lazy Song. I think those are probably the 5 which get the most hate on here.

'Grenade', 'We R Who We R' and 'Don't Wanna Go Home' are still the only #1s of the year which I've never liked enough to chart (I actually probably should have charted DWGH on reflection as I do quite like it, it's just extremely nothingy compared to his 3 other top 3 hits) and the only other #1s I strongly dislike aside from Grenade/WRWWR are 'Party Rock Anthem' and 'Louder'. I'd say 4 terrible #1s out of 21 isn't *too* bad. And there have been 4 fantastic #1s to sort of 'cancel out' the terrible ones (What's My Name?, Changed The Way You Kiss Me, Promises and Stay Awake - with Someone Like You finishing my top 5 #1s of the year :P)
