Oh come on you can not compare the success of Maroon 5 to someone like Pixie Lott lol

I am comparing Pixie Lott to Maroon 5's last album which unfortunately boomed horrifically. Don't get me wrong I love Maroon 5 but Pixie Lott is bang tidy and has a very good voice.

Now where did you get that from

The legendary Keith Lemon :)

I have to say I'm hugely disappointed it ended almost as soon as it began. Its hit ratio was fairly decent and it always has been, songs that flopped probably would've done anyway. You only have to look at David Guetta to see how successful it can be, his success is ridiculous. I'm not sure whether anything other than Where Them Girls At were true OA/OS but all of his hits this year have climbed to their peak and been released well before the video was released, four huge hits in the space of 12 months.

As far as I know, they all have been proper on air, on sale releases. Well, Little Bad Girl had it's radio premiere on the Friday, and got released the Monday afterward, but that's pretty much on air, on sale, and in the US there's often a couple of days between the radio premiere and the song being put on sale aswell anyway (although you probably didn't want to know that ). Obviously whatever future singles he releases from this album will be on air, on sale aswell.

Sean Kingston seems to be falling now. I thought he'd climb more since it's now being played on the radio, but looks like he's already peaked tbh.

I knew that ;) Celebrity Juice is back tonight isn't it Lee ^_^

It returned last week, I was actually pmsl at it.

Why did the on air on sale policy last five minutes? The OCC need to update their rules and put an end to this chart fixing. We wouldn't have had half of these ridiculous #1s this year had they been available from the get go. Download suppression died out years ago in the US yet it's still alive and well in the UK. A #1 in the UK means nothing nowadays, there's a new #1 every other week.

Totally agree, one of the best posts I've ever read on here..

On the other hand, you guys think some of the UK #1s are frontloaded, take a look at the chart runs of some of the #1s on the US digital charts! Especially ones from artists like Lil Wayne, Taylor Swift and Glee Cast.

So pleased I'm not American for those two reasons

The only reason that doesn't happen here is that there aren't any acts with really dedicated fanbases big enough to make it happen. The closest it ever got to happening was with 'Hair' that went as high as #4 on iTunes in its first week and had a chart run of 13-68-out. Didn't at least one of Taylor's 'countdown to Speak Now' singles go 1-out on the digital chart?

I'm just not interested in the chart at the moment.. No 1 hits for a week then sharp drops for the likes of Example, Olly Murrs, Nero, etc.. And in the future the same from One Direction, Crappy Dappy not to mention that Children In Need song which sounds like they're going to take a huge, steaming sh*t on a Massive Attack classic... zzzzz No Thanks..

I would've said the same, but bolded Taylor Swift.

Apparently, although I'm not sure if this is actually true, but one of Taylor Swift's songs went 1-OUT (as in out of the top 100)! JLS falling 1-7 doesn't seem so bad now!!

Nah that can't be correct surely :o

The two biggest hits release this year were available on the on air on sale policy, and that's no coincidence. Labels seem to prioritise chart peaks over sales, and that doesn't really make sense. Sure, it helps when you can bill your artist on the basis that they've had a #1, but this is a business... Suppressing downloads leads to a loss in revenue. I know singles aren't exactly highly profitable, but when they're not readily available it encourages piracy. Not a good idea.

I sincerely doubt that, but thanks anyway! I don't really post here but I'm a moderator on another forum.

Yes, their sales are very front-loaded but they don't peak at #1. That's the difference.

I think it was a promo single for her album but I'm pretty sure it didn't reach #1. Still, falling that far is awful!

Taylor Swift is absolutely horrendous in general though, so glad I'm not American because it's bad enough with the (limited) exposure she gets here!

Bray just mentioned it too, so I think it actually DID happen!

I need to try and find the chart runs actually to show people what on air, on sale can produce (since, whilst I think it'd improve the longevity of the #1s overall, I think people are looking at it through rose-tinted glasses a bit, expecting absolutely everything to have chart runs like I Gotta Feeling, 4 Minutes and Love the Way You Lie). It happens a fair bit though. Obviously the Glee Cast #1s had poor chart runs aswell. And this year, I remember I Need a Doctor getting to #1 in the US, then the week after it'd dropped out of the top 30!! And Lil Wayne got (ANOTHER) #1 a couple of weeks ago, and I'm sure that'll drop fast down the chart aswell.

Can I have evidence Rob :D
