March 2, 201213 yr It's momentum in the right direction. There is some great talent behind the song and we have a very credible and well respected artist fronting the song. Sure, I've never heard of this guy, but if he's had 2 millions selling singles in the UK the chances are that the industry is well aware of him. Someone of this stature is a good move and hopefully in a few years time, if the BBC don't fuck it up, we will be in a situation were we can ask artists who are well respected, liked and in the charts currently to do ESC and they won't die laughing. Sounds incredibly good. If they don't fuck it up, which is a big if. Maybe I'm a cynic, but if they go back to mid-00s style UK entries that aren't current in the future, I can see them using the excuse 'at least it's more current than Englebert' when they send in a dated track with some washed up has-been/nobody.

March 2, 201213 yr I either want us to win, or come last with 0 points. I hate middle ground with an absolute passion.
March 2, 201213 yr I just told my mum that Engelbert Humperdinck would be representing the UK at Eurovision this year. Her response? "but he's old!"

I agree with this completely, I highly doubt I'm going to like the artist, but I think it's quite a good coup for UK, and like you are, if we don't f*** it off, maybe we could get more of these well respected artists in the future.
March 2, 201213 yr I honestly thought this was a joke when I first heard it. Hang on, this is still a joke even if it is true.

March 8, 201213 yr JASON DONOVAN has revealed he TURNED IT DOWN! I'm not sure what's worse: 1) He was even approached 2) He thought it was BENEATH HIM Dear lord, the BBC Eurovision team need to be replaced asap. I'll offer to do it for them for FREE, that's how much I'm annually embarrassed by the actions of these people. Only Keith Mills would do a worse job than the current team.
