Well if it's Atomic Kitten it's better than John Barrowman and East 17 combined.

Still, I don't think they've got any chance of winning. I'll predict a mid-table finish for the UK with Ireland higher up once again.

A fabricated story if ever I read one!

Indeed, the beeb speak:

I'd wait for an official announcement from the BBC before assuming what your read in the Daily Star is true, re: UK Eurovision 2012 act

Hope it's not true and that it's actually someone better but it could be A LOT worse. Wouldn't surprise me if it was true.

edit; oh GOOD

Atomic Kitten now trending, alongside Blazin' Squad, did I trip back ten years again, just like last year with Blue? Oops.

Busted or S Club 8 for UK 2013 :w00t:

So YAY if it's true (although I don't see them lighting up the scoreboard particularly, certainly not with a song called Mechanical Man ) but I'll hold on until we get something from the BBC.

Can you imagine!

It's kind of a shame the Atomic Kitten story isn't true, at least then we'd be safe in the knowledge that The Hoff wasn't representing us!

It's really got incredibly ridiculous and long winded now, why won't the BBC just reveal the chosen act themselves now? :/ Is there anybody that hasn't been rumoured yet?
If it did turn out to be (the more successful line up of) Atomic Kitten, it would be Jenny Frost's second time representing the UK, after Precious in 1999! That's a major reason why I started to love them in the first place in 2001 - replace the DIRE Kerry with a member of a Eurovision girlband that I loved - perfect!
Atomic Kitten??!! Clearly a case of 'we'll these forgotten chavs do?' after approaching hundreds of other contestants. I smell a 3rd to last place position already...

If it was Diana it would be the best UK entry in history, and the best ESC entry of all time!!!

Sorry but I had to quote it to point out that this is the most ridiculous thing I've read all week. :D

GIRL band Atomic Kitten are being lined up to represent the UK in Eurovision.

Liz McClarnon, Natasha Hamilton and Jenny Frost are set to head to Azerbaijan capital Baku in May to compete against 24 other acts in the live final.

BBC chiefs shortlisted thereunited band in the hope they can land the UK’s first win in 15 years.

A Eurovision insider said last night: “Atomic Kitten are the perfect act to send to Baku. They were picked because the BBC think they’ve got what it takes.”

LOL! Even my mom is a better tabloid journalist than this one!

So is it another uninspired entry from the UK then?

Did the Sunday Sun get a Eurovision exclusive? No. Case closed #omg

:manson:

BBC: Hey Adele, do you want to do Eurovision this year?

Adele: No.

BBC: Nevermind, I'll find someone like you.

Adele: Has a British female ever won 6 Grammys in one night before? I thought so.

I hope it isn't Atomic Kitten. I don't like seeing all this hate written about them! Aha. :( Wouldn't be the worst idea they've ever had, but it probably wouldn't bring us our first win in 15 years or whatever. :(

Why don't we just "cheat" and ask Adele FCOL!? Aha. I'm pretty sure her and Ed Sheeran are possibly the only people around at the moment, that will make Eurovision popular with the UK public again and not make us feel like we're being made fools of.

I'd say that Atomic Kitten's 'sound' definitely wouldn't stand a chance at Eurovision but then Running Scared WAS essentially The Last Goodbye all over again...

Blue/Atomic Kitten actually would have been really decent and commendable entrants in 2001/2002, but ten years down the line not so much...

The irony of it all being that as soon as Kerry left Atomic Kitten and Jenny was drafted in as her replacement, Atomic Kitten suddenly became even more popular. I do remember seeing Atomic Kitten perform live on either TOTP or CD:UK with one their post 2002 singles (ie; without Kerry Katona) and was impressed with how strong their live vocals were. Can't remember which single it was but I think it was 'Be With You' (I know it was an uptempo song).

I can't claim to be an Atomic Kitten fan at all pre-Jenny, although I have mild affection for a couple of their early singles. Jenny turned the band around with her far better voice and image. She has a great personality too, as shown on Snog, Marry, Avoid. She brought a level of 'class' to the group somehow.

I LOVE the fact that barely two days after Kerry left and Jenny joined they went from a 3rd rate girlband to one with a near million selling single on their hands. I still think Whole Again was one of the most unexpected #1's ever, I'd been expecting it to chart at about #20 as it had had no airplay and very little other promo, and was seen as their last gasp 'do or die' single. I was waiting for the midweek disappointment and subsequent announcement that they'd been dropped, and started to feel sorry for Jenny joining a sinking ship. And then I looked at the midweeks and saw it flying ahead at #1. Considering their previous single had gone to #20, their album flopped, Whole Again had no exposure and they'd never been top five before, gobsmacked was an understatement. I still have no idea how it happened. From there of course it took on a life of its own as airplay kicked in and the band became a big name in pop. But I still don't get how it got there in the first place
