This is such a desperate move from the label, and the remix doesn't work at all. It'll be nice if Katy does break the record, but the fact that they have released two remixes featuring rappers to get there is not needed. Just let it chart where it charts.

"f*** you capitol for this, it isn't important how many #1's an artist has, you should not cheat to get this record, and IF you are cheating, why didn't you release an acoustic version which fits the heartmelt-feeling of this LOVE-song, instead of this fu'kin not-fitting-rap parts.

katy deserves this record, but not in this way"

I agree with this comment. They really should have released an acoustic version/remix package for the song and promoted both the normal version and one of the remixes or something if they wanted the record so bad. Not adding on the rap. I don't know why people are complaining to capitol though. I think it's nice and refreshing to see a label actually care about an artist. It's refreshing.

(Although the rap in the middle of the song fits in with the song a lot more than the 'E.T.' intro.

You know, one word I would use to describe it is refreshing. Do you agree Jon?

I actually really want this to get to number just because it's basically her best song ever (at least tied with 'E.T'.) and if songs as terrible as 'Firework' can get there, this definitely should!

LOL. Oops. :(

Oh I completely agree with your 2nd part! It really does deserve to be number 1 because it'd be nice and I guess people could say it'd be refreshing to see.

The remix is available on iTunes now, I wonder how high it'll get... ^_^
To be honest, I don't see this being particularly desperate. Both "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)" and "The One That Got Away" were so close to getting #1 by their own merit, with the push of the remixes, it's just done what the tracks couldn't do themselves. In a way, it's genius marketing, and hopefully it'll make Katy see she shouldn't take too much of a break off. :)
I am all for remixes, I love having alternative remixes to listen too when I start to tire of the originals. On the whole though, I still prefer the originals and tend to listen to them.

I must get a link to that version! Does anyone have one for me please? :D
They really will do ANYTHING to get that 6th #1, i don't blame them of course but it's not going to happen.

This was was the first track to make me really fall in love with Katy. It's still her best song for many and in my top 5 fave songs of all time. And The video OMG <3
I'd definitely say that now the dust has firmly settled over the ever-extended Teenage Dream era (and the Prism era too, so it seems) that this is my favourite Katy song ever. It's just so special and the lyrics are so well-crafted, it's really a testament to her talent which is sadly overlooked at times (see also: "Thinking of You" where she Katy is the only songwriter!) Gorgeous
I never did, and still don't feel the love.
I just can't get over how long ago this was released!

Sometimes I'm like that too, but then I remember how long ago 'Last Friday Night' was and I'm properly blown away.
