Sorry but i'm still confused as to why this was chosen as a single. Same with 'Busy' and 'Heart On My Sleeve'. The first two singles from both album were brilliant, sounded very radio friendly, had such catchy and unique productions and really stood out but the post-album singles have all been very limp and forgettable. It doesn't help that the post-album singles have also had very low budget videos.

I just don't get why he'd choose 'Oh My Goodness' over the title track (which screams top 10 hit), 'Anywhere Else' or 'I Don't Love You Too'. Same with choosing 'Busy' and 'Heart On My Sleeve' over 'Don't Say Goodbye', 'Change is Gonna Come' and 'A Million More Years'.

I just feel like he's slowing down his album sales by releasing average album tracks. :( I'd be suprised if OMG even touches the top 40 officially, and it's not really doing much for album sales either anyway.

I have to disagree about Busy, that's one of his strongest songs, even the instrumental sounds good on the M&S ad! His singles are chosen on how much airplay they'll get IMO. Check out the combined airplay chart on here, even a rubbish song like Heart on my sleeve got a ridiculous amount of airplay. I think he should have released Busy as 3rd single then just moved on. It must have been a close choice for 3rd single this time, I think he went with the most upbeat, but it was a good choice judging from reaction and airplay. I totally agree about the videos, they used the same director for DWMT and OMG and it shows as they bot look like they cost pennies, but the Busy video looks high quality in comparison.

It would be great if Oh My Goodness reached the top 10 as he didnt manage three top 10 hits from debut album. Additionally, i believe if oh my goodness becomes a decent size hit the album stands a great chance of making triple platnum status for him.

I think he's almost there already anyway? Not far off. Wikipedia reckons he's went past 900,000 already but surely he'd have mentioned it.

He's another 100,000 away from going triple platinum with 'In Case You Didn't Know' now, he said so on an interview he did for Heart FM the other day. Anyway...the album download is #17 on iTunes atm and the new digital bundle is #11 on the album chart. The new b-side 'Don't Say Goodnight Yet' is mint! This is basically gonna be the last single from the album though from what his manager Sarah Tweeted the other day as he starts recording and writing for album 3 this month and that's apparently gonna be out in November as with the last two albums.

'Heart Skips A Beat' is #1 on iTunes in Germany, Switzerland and Luxembourg at the moment...but of course I suppose the big news in the last week is this whole 'One Direction support slot in the US' and the fact 'Heart Skips A Beat' is being released in America in June on Columbia. It's a great opportunity for him and I'm so happy he's getting a chance to break there but I can't help but think America won't get him - not because I doubt him or his talents but with the exception of a few crazy One Direction fangirls who are only vaguely interested because of his connection to Caroline Flack (who in turn was seeing? Very good) I just think they'll respond to him the way they responded to Robbie.

From what he said on BBC Breakfast though he's still keeping his main focus on UK - he's got his summer dates here from July through to September and I don't doubt there'll be the first single from 3rd album out during that time like he did with 'Heart Skips A Beat' and 'Please Don't Let Me Go' - and I know him well enough that he'll stay grounded and take positives from the experience regardless of whether or not he does well out there, but I just hope people don't start cussing him down here like they did with JLS when they didn't break America. I hate the fact that America is the be all and end all that our own artists in UK have to crack to be deemed of any worth - don't get me wrong, it's nice if you get it like One Direction but have but everyone's got their own successes in respective territories and none of them is more redeemable than another I say.

HAHA I saw on twitter that you were moaning about him going to America, don't worry about it mate, it's better that he tries and fails than never tries at all. At least then he can focus all his energies on Europe etc without wondering what if, I'm sure he had a similar mindset when applying for X Factor and it worked out well. In any case, even if he doesn't sell many records I guarantee he'll gain alot of fans from the tour, some of their American fans like him already. Hey I didn't expect him to be so big in Germany, the 3rd biggest market in the world, if Columbia USA have faith in him then I do too. I would like them to replace Rizzle Kicks on HSAB though, in terms of raising awareness of the song, even someone like Tinie Tempah would help, even better Lil Wayne (as if)! ;)

Btw I like your Olly blog, keep it up!

I wasn't necessarily moaning - I believe in him and know that he won't change for us and I know he's grounded enough - but I was just worried. I'd actually be a bit miffed if they changed 'Heart Skips A Beat' for America. It's success everywhere else so far has proved he doesn't need to change who he is for audiences that are willing to take him as he is. Also look at The Wanted - they didn't change 'Glad You Came' for America - now whilst I'm not a big fan of The Wanted's "Glad You Came" is a really good song and it works just the way it is. Having some random US dude who doesn't get Olly or his unique British-ness that everyone else loves about him would just sound naff. Just my take on it.

PS Glad you like OM Daily :)

There is a reason JLS didn't hit America... their loveable guys, don't get me wrong, but they took "Everybody In Love" which isn't a good first single. See how The Wanted & One Direction are doing so well... their loveable guys with really poppy music. Olly may work because "Heart Skips A Beat" is a catchy tune!

I think Heart Skips A Beat could be big in America with backing, especially as he has a nice bit of promo from being on One Direction's tour - the US will welcome a new piece of eye candy anyway I'm sure ;)

His songs are radio friendly most importantly, I can't see them taking to Dance With Me Tonight but HSAB and perhaps Oh My Goodness and In Case You Didn't Know could get airplay, particularly the former!

As I said before out of most the artists to breakthrough in America, none of them deserve to do it for us Brits more than Olly. I don't know why but when I listen to his album, although he has a hint of Raggae influence in a couple of his songs or whatever it all manages to sound, so British. His album never fails to make me smile when I listen to it. It's just feel good and is very good in quality. Easily my favourite British star around at the moment.

#12 in midweeks with 'Oh My Goodness' - not top 10 but definitely an improvement on 'Heart On My Sleeve' and 'Busy' like I knew it would be! He's on a bit more TV over the next week as well including Des O'Connor's special on ITV1 on Sunday and a special edition of 'Deal or No Deal' next week performing and being a contestant again - hopefully he'll get more than a tenner this time hahaha!

Also his tour documentary 'Olly: Life on Murs' starts on ITV2 for a 3 episode run on 19th April at 9pm - I'm in the first episode with him and 19 others on an open top bus cruising around London so watch out for me! :)

I really like that version, obviously the original is amazing and Chiddy Bang are inoffensive enough. I prefer Rizzle Kicks but I can see why a change was needed, Chiddy Bang make it sound more American.

I could plausibly see it being a hit actually, but I'm still unsure.

Chiddy Bang? Splashing the cash I see. They'd be better off keeping Rizzle Kicks so they could push the "HE'S BRITISH DON'T YOU KNOW?" angle rather than tacking on some rent-a-rapper(s) who aren't even relevant just because they're American. I mean, who is going to say "OMG IT'S CHIDDY BANG I LUV THEM BUY BUY BUY"? If it was Kanye or something I'd understand.

Pleased that they're going with HSAB in any case. His only brilliant song to date.

Why do so many artists think in order to break the Us you need a guest rapper.

My theory is "they're dumb". When does it EVER even work?

This album was up to 7 last week, climbing to 6 this week. I don't know if Olly paid for the ITV2 show or if they paid him but it's worked out well in album sales!

The guest feature on HSAB isn't bad... the most concerning thing is it's out on the 22nd of March! So right at the very start of when Olly sets off on tour with 1D so he'll struggle promotion wise and where's the American video? Pretty crucial when the song has been changed. I can see this being a half arsed American launch for Olly.

What is his 4th single? I know he loves I Need You Now, so will it be that? Its actually so good! His best ballad by far!

If there is a fourth single i'm hoping for Anywhere Else or In Case You Didn't Know. I could see both going top 20. I Need You Now would flop as a single.

Oops....

In understating the point news, Olly Murs thinks a further release from his current album would be “pushing it”.

He told Capital FM that he’s going abroad to promote the record for a while but is hoping new single ‘Oh My Goodness’ will help him flog a few more copies here first.

“Obviously we want the single to do well as it can do and just to really sell the album a bit more”, he said. To much relief he added: “I think we’d be pushing it if we released a fourth single.”

But the good news didn’t last for long. He said he plans to “do some more writing and come back with something fresh, maybe end of the year”.

I guess it is May and it's probably seen as an old album now. Its still selling well though. Might as well move on for another album out end of year with X Factor again for another double platinum album!
I think a fourth single would do no harm, its good the album is currently top 10 but it would be great if he can eventually get the album to triple platinum.

I think it's only ever really worked for Taio and Jay Sean. Other than that, they've not worked I don't think.

If there was a 4th single, surely the title track is the only logical choice? It'd do similarly to OMG I reckon. I wouldn't exactly be against a 'I'm OK' release, though :P
