September 27, 201114 yr Wow I never thought You And I would be SUCH a massive flop for Gaga!! I did tbh. It's a STUPID choice of single for Europe. Why not Americano or Scheisse?
September 27, 201114 yr That's a bit of a drop, he could just scrape top 10 once the new entries start falling that are ahead of him later in the week. Yeah I agree with that. Still above Will Young released at the same time and TB who has only been out one week in comparison to 6 now for Joe.
September 27, 201114 yr nice to see Blink and Mastodon in the top 15 of the chart, can't see Mastodon staying there too long because it will be front loaded but top 15-20 isn't bad. Blink will probably at least stay in the top 10 I think, maybe shame Machine Head couldn't get in the top 40 though as they and Mastodon have created two fantastic albums and possibly album of the year contenders in my opinion
September 27, 201114 yr I really hope James Morrison stays number 1 in the albums, and wow at Nicola Roberts, i know it will prob drop through out the week but surely top 30 will be its lowest now if it continue sto drop. Joe McElderry will climb through the week i think he is always much lower in the midweeks than his actual offical position so i think he will be number 11 at lowest on sunday. Great to see Bl;ink 182 back in the top 5 albums aswell. Maroon 5 are only 6k behind number 1 so i wouldnt completly rule them out of number 1 yet, if not i really hope they only get beaten by Goo Goo Dolls, iris deserves a decent chart position, x factor hasnt just boosted the single it has boosted their album aswell and again great to see it top 40. Really hope bad meets eveil can hold their position or higher as im really starting to love the song now.
September 27, 201114 yr Sorry to be a pain but is there any chance of getting info on Erasures new single from anywhere? I thought it might have crept into the top 40 at the beginning of the week at least but it would be nice if it's between 41-100. Thanks for any info.
September 27, 201114 yr Cant believe Iris peaked at #26 (is that correct?) #26?! and now its in the top 3! Hope it can stay there, if not top 5 would still be amazing, or even top 10 like Cannonball. Edited September 27, 201114 yr by Karma
September 27, 201114 yr Author Sorry to be a pain but is there any chance of getting info on Erasures new single from anywhere? I thought it might have crept into the top 40 at the beginning of the week at least but it would be nice if it's between 41-100. Thanks for any info. Its probably hardly registered any sales to be in the top 200 anyhow, if you take a lot at the top 500 iTunes chart. Looking at the iTunes chart gives you roughly an indication of what is charting. Looking at the iTunes top 100, Erasure's new single is nowhere to be seen so it wouldn't likely to chart top 40 at the beginning of the week.
September 27, 201114 yr Yeah I agree with that. Still above Will Young released at the same time and TB who has only been out one week in comparison to 6 now for Joe. Hmm as a fan of Will Young would I prefer him at #17 with a rushed out covers album of old classics and standards that have been done to death or at #18 with a brilliant album of brand new material and 12 out of the 13 tracks co-written by him....no contest really :D
September 27, 201114 yr #4 for Blink is appalling, James Morrison obviously isn't looking at doing more than 50k if he's vulnerable to Kasabian and "Neighbourhoods" I thought would do at least 40k. Nice to see "Nevermind" at least initially top 5, it's never been higher than #7! :o doubt it'll beat that now really.
September 27, 201114 yr Worth noting that "Iris" is likely to out-peak the where the single charted in their homeland (#9 in 1998), that despite 18 consecutive weeks as airplay #1 in the US. That was because in '98 you had to have a CD single released to qualify for the chart and many record companies refused to release one instead directing people to the album instead. I think the rules were changed in December which allowed them to finally chart at #9 late in the year after all the airplay had almost gone.

However Joes not exactly the first person to release covers and is in a completely different place in his career to Will right now. It obviously is a contest though as Joe is outselling him the last few weeks and closing the sales gap. I'm guessing you said the same thing about Will when he released those god awful covers of "Light my Fire" and "long and winding road" years ago.

They were number #1 on the amazon cd single chart but obviously that doesn't mean a lot lol. Neverthemind.
September 27, 201114 yr no adele in top 5? :( FLOOOOOP This made me smile :) No staying power that girl!
September 27, 201114 yr I'll take number 4 for blink!! Although I'm guessing they'll fall away throughout the week! :( Hope not though. They deserve a high peaking album! Apart from the Greatest Hits, their highest peaking album, 'Take Off Your Pants and Jacket' is currently #4 and it's their only top 10 album! For a band who have such a huge following, their peaks are pretty shit. EDIT: Oh and for the number 1 race in the singles chart, I am #teamgoogoodolls ! Sak Noel can piss off and die (obviously I mean the song as I don't wish death 'pon anybody) but Maroon 5 have had so many chances  Hopefully they start to fall away soon.
September 27, 201114 yr Why are people continously comparing joe and Will they are totally different artists aiming at different markets...if people are going to compare chart positions surely the shocker is looking at all the artists who released in the same week or after Will/Joe and have already disappeared from the top 30.... or about to, The Kooks,Wretch, RHCP or Nero. Also Will is out selling Example and David Guetta who are both massively hyped artists at the moment but no one is commenting on this.
September 27, 201114 yr Because David Guetta and Example aren't really known for shifting too many albums... Will is...
September 27, 201114 yr Because David Guetta and Example aren't really known for shifting too many albums... Will is... Joe wasn't either until now ... And Echoes' chart run is better than Keep on and Let it go's chart runs so far. Plus 'Jealousy' is already his biggest selling single since 'Leave right now'. But I guess it's quite a natural thing to compare Joe & Will. Both are young UK male singers, TV show winners (and gay  ), and releasing a comeback album at the same time. That's enough for the general audience to draw comparaisons. But both of them are doing really well, I don't think there is a need to say one is one or two places higher than the other. :)
