September 27, 201114 yr But both of them are doing really well, I don't think there is a need to say one is one or two places higher than the other. :) Exactly!
September 27, 201114 yr Joe wasn't either until now ... And Echoes' chart run is better than Keep on and Let it go's chart runs so far. Plus 'Jealousy' is already his biggest selling single since 'Leave right now'. But I guess it's quite a natural thing to compare Joe & Will. Both are young UK male singers, TV show winners (and gay  ), and releasing a comeback album at the same time. That's enough for the general audience to draw comparaisons. But both of them are doing really well, I don't think there is a need to say one is one or two places higher than the other. :)Well, I wasn't including Joe really. His success has surprised me (although not really considering where it came from) But areWill fans REALLY surprised at people comparing their successes to each other? They released at the same time and are still in a similar position to the other. Their success is very similar for their current eras. (Except Will slightly more successful) It's no different to a time when Girls Aloud/Sugababes/The Sats were releasing albums at a similar time or whatever.
September 27, 201114 yr Because David Guetta and Example aren't really known for shifting too many albums...(b) Will is...(/b) Wow you all have long memories Will has not been a big seller since 2005 with the keep On album... People on here were quick to say the sales of his last studio album 'Let it Go' were disappointing....now he's a big seller Which one is it

People on here were quick to say the sales of his last studio album 'Let it Go' were disappointing....now he's a big seller Which one is it :lol:I don't know how much 'Let It Go' sold, but I'm pretty sure it did better than most other albums that were released at the same time. But people are probably just comparing Will's eras with each other. Like people call 'Echo' by Leona a flop (even though it sold 600k+) just because it didn't sell even a THIRD of what 'Spirit' did. Oh and I didn't necessarily say he was a big seller :P He's just more known to sell albums, than he is to sell singles...
September 27, 201114 yr Where is the Sugababes' new single "Freedom"? Where is LeAnn Rimes' new album "Lady & Gentlemen"?
September 27, 201114 yr Author Erasure do strike me as the sort of band that would still sell a lot of physical singles, so it's not that improbable. That's their problem but like Brett-Butler said, they do sell physicals. They were number #1 on the amazon cd single chart but obviously that doesn't mean a lot lol. Neverthemind. oops I didn't know they had a physical release, I thought the track was on downloads only.
September 27, 201114 yr Author Where is the Sugababes' new single "Freedom"? Where is LeAnn Rimes' new album "Lady & Gentlemen"? Freedom has been scrapped, as the track is been given away free on Amazon  We don't have top 200 chart info to answer your other request, sadly we only post top 40 info all the new entries have been posted.
September 27, 201114 yr Worth noting that "Iris" is likely to out-peak the where the single charted in their homeland (#9 in 1998), that despite 18 consecutive weeks as airplay #1 in the US. That was because in '98 you had to have a CD single released to qualify for the chart and many record companies refused to release one instead directing people to the album instead. I think the rules were changed in December which allowed them to finally chart at #9 late in the year after all the airplay had almost gone. That is almost correct. It wasn't limited though to only having a CD single out to chart, it could be a cassette single or a vinyl single (any physical format). From December 5, 1998 the rules changed as you mentioned and any track could chart (except recurrents - old tracks - that are still not eligible to chart). September 27, 201114 yr Freedom has been scrapped, as the track is been given away free on Amazon That is a shame. I think the track could easily have gone top 10 with the right kind of promotion. Anyone know what is happening to their album now? Will it still be released?
September 27, 201114 yr Why are people continously comparing joe and Will they are totally different artists aiming at different markets...if people are going to compare chart positions surely the shocker is looking at all the artists who released in the same week or after Will/Joe and have already disappeared from the top 30.... or about to, The Kooks,Wretch, RHCP or Nero. Also Will is out selling Example and David Guetta who are both massively hyped artists at the moment but no one is commenting on this. Thank you :) One of the most sensible posts I've read in a while! I agree re David Guetta and Example too. I was merely commenting that Joes sales were holding up in comparison to the artists you mention and as far as I'm concerned the only reason I compared Will and Joe is because their release date was the same. We have to get the usual "oh even if he sells a million copies hes worthless" kind of comments coz its covers Pathetic really.

It was actually a compliment to Will that I am pleased Joe is hanging around in the same way Will is in the current charts..
September 27, 201114 yr Maroon 5 / Christina is the only song I want to top the chart - but having The Goo Goo Dolls at the top wouldn't bother me too much. 'Loca People' is no doubt benefitting from pre-order/EP sales, so I can't see it holding the #1 spot until Sunday. 01 DJ Fresh ft. Sian Evans 'Louder' (1-2) 02 The Wanted 'Glad You Came' (1-1-2) 03 JLS ft. Dev 'She Makes Me Wanna' 04 Cher Lloyd 'Swagger Jagger' (1-3) 05 Nero 'Promises' (1-5) 06 Wretch 32 ft. Josh Kumra 'Don't Go' (1-4) 07 Olly Murs ft. Rizzle Kicks 'Heart Skips a Beat' (1-3) 08 Example 'Stay Awake' (1-5) 09 Pixie Lott 'All About Tonight' (1-3) 10 One Direction 'What Makes You Beautiful' (1-3) 11 Dappy 'No Regrets' (1-4) Interestingly, the past 8 #1 singles (all from UK artists) have all fallen 2+ places from the peak. Since the 'British Reign' began with DJ Fresh, only 'Louder' and 'Glad You Came' have fallen to #2 having been at #1. Sak Noel / The Goo Goo Dolls / Maroon 5 will end the British reign on Sunday though. On the album chart, I'm glad Ed Sheeran's chart run stands at (1-2-3), whilst Kasabian's is now (1-2) - it's great to see albums picking up where the singles chart is getting ridiculous and pathetic.
September 27, 201114 yr Just a word of advice: try to avoid naming specific artists when comparing Joe. By mentioning Will at all for any reason, you were obviously going to end up in an argument with Will fans. Maybe you could just say 'Joe's holding up so well compared to other albums' rather than mentioning which ones.

I meant I am happy with Will's position for an album of largely unknown tracks  Why you have to mention any other artiste is beyond me...just be happy Joe is doing well.. as I am that Will is doing equally as well :)
September 27, 201114 yr Goo Goo Dolls only 3k behind Sak Noel I see - if they can stay #1 all week on iTunes (they probably won't but stranger things have happened) they could be serious challengers for the #1. Sak Noel's lead over Maroon 5 will only increase from now anyway I think so even if GGD do fall away I think Maroon 5 are out of the race now :D Until next week, Levine, until next week. Nice climb for Delilah. Hopefully a top 10 hit in the coming weeks if it isn't one of those annoying stally songs which spend ages in the top 20 without going top 10. Strong start for You Me At Six, I wonder if they'll finally get a second 'solo' (wrong word for a group) top 40 hit? IIRC 'Kiss And Tell', 'Underdog' and 'Stay With Me' were all top 40 in at least one midweek report, but 'Finders Keepers' and 'Rescue Me' with Chiddy are still their only two top 40 singles. 'Loverboy' is pretty poor by their standards though, it just sounds like a boring carbon copy of 'Underdog' (which is their best song). I've underestimated Velociraptor!'s success, I was certain Ed Sheeran would have overtaken it again already. I really hope 'The Awakening' stays #1 anyway, 8.5k is a decent lead but bigger leads have been closed in the past. I wouldn't think James Morrison is that frontloaded though so I am fairly confident he'll get #1. It'd be nice if the single could scrape another week at #5 as well since it's ahead of One Direction on iTunes when combined. Seems to be a good week for rock bands with Goo Goo Dolls, blink-182, Nirvana, Pink Floyd and Mastodon all entering one of the top 10s today. Although three of those are old recordings  '21' in out of the top 5 shocker! I'm sure it'll get back to #4 by Sunday though, blink-182 and a 'Nevermind' re-issue aren't exactly going to stay put through the week. '19' could very well sneak yet another week in the top 10 as well, I thought it'd be lower than 10+4 today, all it needs to do is overtake Mastodon, Nicola Roberts and Joe Bonamassa/Beth Hart (all of which should be taken easily) then one more. 01 DJ Fresh ft. Sian Evans 'Louder' (1-2) 02 The Wanted 'Glad You Came' (1-1-2) 03 JLS ft. Dev 'She Makes Me Wanna' 04 Cher Lloyd 'Swagger Jagger' (1-3) 05 Nero 'Promises' (1-5) 06 Wretch 32 ft. I meant I am happy with Will's position for an album of largely unknown tracks  Why you have to mention any other artiste is beyond me...just be happy Joe is doing well.. as I am that Will is doing equally as well :) Just to be clear I wasnt saying you made that comment at all that was someone else. I was just saying that I was happy Joe was holding up against Will Young and Tony Bennett who had released around the same time or after and agreeing that the same applies to David Guetta and Example as well as the other artists you mention that are plummeting Just felt it was completely un-necessary to start making comments about who writes their own songs etc to put Joe down. I am happy both Joe AND Will are doing well. Two people who can actually sing for a change. Some people (again not you) are very touchy!

It was a compliment if anything as I am happy Joe is selling as well as Will. Just thought the post about song-writing and "no comparison" was a little un-necessary as I hadn't put Will down in any way as far as I could see.

September 27, 201114 yr I was sort of expecting to see 'Days Are Forgotten' back in the top 40, the album version has now been T40 on iTunes for a good week. Maybe it'll show up tomorrow. Definitely won't be suffering too bad a fall this week from #42, if not a climb/no-move.
