Posted September 28, 201113 yr So, the singles front may look fairly cluttered over the next few weeks but what of the albums? What will be the big Christmas seller? Will anything top Adele's 257k week on Mothers Day? I don't know the answer to these questions, hence why I had to look at the release schedule. 02/10 James Morrison - The Awakening 60k 09/10 Officially bugger all out, You Me At Six will be top 5/10 and #1 will be James Morrison, Ed Sheeran or Kasabian on 35-40k 16/10 Evanescence - Evanescence 40k (Jason Derulo - Future History 35k) 23/10 Matt Cardle - Letters 110k (Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds 95k) 30/10 Coldplay – Mylo Xyloto 280k 06/11 Coldplay – Mylo Xyloto 130k (Florence & The Machine – Ceremonials 115k) 13/11 Hmm, could be either of the above plus Susan Boyle and The Wanted fighting it out. The #1 will probably do about 80k 20/11 JLS – Jukebox 110k (Snow Patrol 85k, R.E.M. 50k) 27/11 Either Coldplay, JLS or Westlife - Greatest Hits on about 70k So basically, I have no idea and there's not enough info to do all the way through Q4. It's a ridiculously uneven schedule, with both Noel Gallagher and Florence both likely to miss out on #1 when they would have run away with it in certain weeks.
September 28, 201113 yr I think Rihanna's sixth album is due out 21/11, so I'm sure that'll be a big seller for the chart on 27/11...how much it sells will probably depend on whether she gets an X Factor performance, although I'm pretty certain she will.

Though even if she does, I doubt she'll get the same kind of exposure as she did here! http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/news/2011/0...15875-23450721/ If she wants somewhere else to dance around topless, I won't object if she does it on my land! ;)
September 28, 201113 yr I think Olly Murs, JLS, Westlife, One Direction, Florence & The Machine and Matt Cardle will. I don't really track outside of the pop genre, but would guess Coldplay and Snow Patrol would have a good chance and there are likely to be a few suprises here and there.
September 28, 201113 yr I agree it'll be James Morrison this week and then next week it'll be whoever holds up best out of Ed Sheeran, Kasabian and him (really wouldn't be surprised if Ed Sheeran returned to #1 at some point). I think that'll also be the same the next week though, maybe 21 will even challenge again, I just can't see Evanescence challenging. They might get to #3-5 with Jason Derülo in the lower half of the top 10 or just outside. Matt vs. Noel could be interesting (until the first mids when it becomes obvious who will be #1 of course). If Run For Your Life does well then Matt could snatch it but I wouldn't be surprised with a victory for the Birds. Coldplay will obviously be #1 the week after that and I think 280k may be an underestimate - I can see Mylo Xyloto easily passing 300k first week. Or maybe that's just my wishful thinking goggles. Florence will probably have to settle for another #2 debut with high sales as I can't imagine her outdoing Coldplay's second week. The Wanted could challenge for #1 the week after that (I think SuBo's days of #1 albums are already over) but I'm going to predict it'll just be Coldplay week 3. JLS are a fairly obvious #1 as well, R.E.M. and Snow Patrol battling it out for #2 with Coldplay probably still at 4. Pretty big week. Could be the week that finally sees 21 out of the top 5. So, my predictions (I'll bold my gut instinct for the #1 out of the unsures): 08/10 James Morrison - The Awakening 15/10 James Morrison - The Awakening/Kasabian - Velociraptor!/Ed Sheeran - + 22/10 James Morrison - The Awakening/Kasabian - Velociraptor!/Ed Sheeran - + 29/10 Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds/Matt Cardle - Letters 05/11 Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto 12/11 Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto 19/11 Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto/The Wanted - TBA 26/11 JLS - Jukebox Edited September 28, 201113 yr by Bré

I'm really looking forward to Matt vs. Noel, he'll almost certainly perform "Run For Your Life" on X Factor the week it's released so the album will have no big promotion of its own. Alexandra did 180k with a single and then 120k with an album, I don't think RFYL will be anywhere near as big as "Bad Boys" but the gap between single and album sales will be a lot smaller for Matt given he's more of an albums artist (or is this just an excuse for any floptastic male X Factor winner?). I'd say both him and Noel are looking at 100k-ish but it would have been a good idea for Noel to release "Stop the Clocks" as a third pre-album single just to get a bit more hype going. THEN I'd be confident of it beating Matt, I can see "Stop the Clocks" going top 100 on album cherrypicking alone.
September 28, 201113 yr Matt Cardle strikes me as much more of an 'album artist' than Alexandra who is firmly a singles artist though. It's hard to call Matt vs. Noel at the moment. EDIT: Oh, you did say this - sorry, I didn't read your post properly  AKA... What A Life! is still top 40 on iTunes :o Why did they release it so long before the physical though? It could have gone top 10 if it had a simultaneous digital/physical release. The same applies to The Roller which got #31 on downloads alone but only got back to #51 when they finally lugged out a physical a month later. It could have been so much bigger. September 28, 201113 yr here's my terrible guessing skills :D this week: James Morrison obvs, with about 60-70k 9th October: not much out, low sales week guaranteed - maybe You Me at Six 16th October: Evanescence most likely with around 70-80k 23rd October: Matt Cardle or Noel Gallagher if the single really underperforms, possibly over 100k for Matt, I do think he'll sell far more albums than singles 30th October: Coldplay for certain, I think around 300k myself, the hype's definitely there 6th November: Coldplay again, alas, Florence will have to settle for number 2 again :( but it will probably sell around 100k 13th November: Bruce Forsyth of course :D ..............................I kid, The Wanted probably 20th November: probably JLS with around 100k, Snow Patrol and REM could also challenge 27th November: Rihanna most likely, although I can't see this being anywhere NEAR as big as Loud, Kate Bush and Westlife should be top 5 4th December: Olly/Leona from what I can see Edited September 28, 201113 yr by C.W

September 28, 201113 yr 02/10 I think it's pretty clear at this point that Morrison will earn a second number-one album with 'The Awakening'. 09/10 Morrison, Sheeran and Kasabian (but also Adele) all pose competition for #1 - a performance from any could tip it. Saying that, You Me At Six debuted at number 5 with previous album, so I think a T3 placement isn't out of the question - especially as 'Loverboy' is set to give them their first T40 since the debut album (if you exclude the Chiddy Bang collaboration). 16/10 Evanescene are irrelevant in 2011, Jason Derulo is the only new entry I see competing for the top spot. I reckon it'll peak early on in the week (#3?) before slipping to #7/8 officially. Thus, Morrison // Sheeran // Kasabian and Adele are the competition again. 23/10 An X-Factor performance the week before will no doubt earn Matt Cardle a number-one album - there's no doubt about it. Noel Gallagher will be looking at a top 5 at the minimum. 30/10 and 06/11 Coldplay are sure to get #1. A second week is threatened by Florence obviously, who having sold bucket loads over a long period may actually sell well on the first week with 'Ceremonials'. Could be a Gaga-esque situation, as 'Born This Way' debuted following a long-running debut. 13/11 The Wanted only debuted at #4 with the last album, despite a #1 and #2 single, so a #1 and #3 single for the second album isn't going to do THAT much better. I expect it'll debut within the T5 alongside SuBo - Coldplay and Florence provide the most competition here. 20/11 I reckon Snow Patrol will walk away with the #1 here - JLS are losing their fans rapidly, what with The Wanted and One Direction around. Claims that they'll 'definitely get #1' are rubbish, clearly people have forgotten their second album only peaked at #2 behind Take That, and the likes of Coldplay, Florence and the Machine and Susan Boyle are all big album-sellers.
September 28, 201113 yr Though even if she does, I doubt she'll get the same kind of exposure as she did here! http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/news/2011/0...15875-23450721/ If she wants somewhere else to dance around topless, I won't object if she does it on my land! ;) When RiRi stripped off her top half, the farmer who owned the land pulled up in a tractor I'll bet he did!
September 28, 201113 yr In what way are JLS 'losing their fans rapidly'? She Makes Me Wanna has sold significantly more than The Club Is Alive. And yes, Outta This World did miss #1, but it was against Progress' second week and would have needed close to the first week sales of their first album to get to #1 which was never going to happen. 'Jukebox' will be #1 without a doubt. Edited September 28, 201113 yr by Bré

September 29, 201113 yr don't underestimate Noels album... He apparently has 3 times as much pre-oders than his younger brothers band beady eye had back in FEB when they sold 66k first week. Noel will easily do 100K+ and will 100% be top2
September 29, 201113 yr Author don't underestimate Noels album... He apparently has 3 times as much pre-oders than his younger brothers band beady eye had back in FEB when they sold 66k first week. Noel will easily do 100K+ and will 100% be top2 Three times? Jesus, the Tuesday midweeks that week are going to be mental because Matt Cardle will have had pre-orders since last December  I completely agree Noel will be top 2, his material has connected with the general public more than Beady Eye's (with the exception of "The Roller", at least).

October 3, 201113 yr Am I looking at the right page on Play? Olly Murs #1 pre-order album? He's been #1 for over a month on there now.
October 3, 201113 yr There are going to be no big releases in these last few months of 2011. Obviously Coldplay are going to be huge, but if you asked me who was going to be the Christmas #1 album I wouldn't have a clue. :drama:
