Deadline was brought up by more than one poster in this thread yesterday. I would've mentioned it earlier had I known everybody would've not read the first post properly. If 10 out of 30 people don't do things right then surely it doesn't mean that this fact should be overlooked?! Perhaps Martyn didn't want to close the voting on 11pm yesterday and decided to give a few more hours. After all the topic was opened on the night betwee 29th and 30th.

I brought it up Yesterday in the middle of the day! Plenty of time to see and go, hold on a sec.

I know some people might lynch me for saying this, but this contest has been a bit of a shambles tbh. :( Hopefully we can get back on track next month!

If I was in the position to make the decision, I wouldn't give any punishment at all. So many people have made the same mistake that it's likely to skew the results quite a bit as more than 10 countries didn't give points AND got a 33% deduction.

I wanted to say this, don't worry - you're not the only one who thought it!

DNQ people (BRAY headlining), don't even bother voting now since you won't be banned. :D

Productive campaign innit.

I only realised it was 11am last night, got them sent in this morning luckily, I didn't so many people wouldn't vote. I think the votes sent soon after should probably count, though if people haven't sent them in now, then it's fair I guess they be deducted. I'll wait to see if votes are rejected, and countries deducted points before doing my predicta now. At least this has livened up the contest by giving the slight possibilty Kopecka might not win!
Am I the only one who thinks Kopecka will not win this?! Call it a gut feeling but I think we're in for a surprise. :o

Not at all!

Is it? I thought sending reminders was optional? (although admittedly I can't remember anybody not taking up the option before!)

It is, but what I mean is it's a condition when it comes to banning for non-voting.

As Phil has already said (despite me saying it beforehand, but obviously that wasn't enough :P ), there won't be any bannings.

Not at all!

I think you're a surefire Top 3 though. #2 to be precise.

Only if deductions are applied. If not then Kopecka are sailing to victory, the hype around Sober on this forum has been huge, on personal charts, in the pop forum, in this forum etc...I haven't noticed half as much buzz around any other song this month.

Yes there are 'haters' but that's par for the course with any song, Video Games won with a massive score (for this era of BJSC at least) without even getting the majority of voters on side.

Wasn't there also a member in this contest who only realized the deadline was this morning at 11am and hence got up in the morning just to listen to the songs and vote? It would really be unfair on him if the votes after counted since he gave his effort to wake up on time to vote :o

You should have all voted for Gotye last month. :P

...but seriously, it does seem like a lot of this hasn't been prepared properly but I still say kudos to Martyn for this attempt. Being his first time, I reckon he just didn't realise what was involved. To be honest, I didn't before I hosted BJSC so I just PM'd loads of people asking for tips/guidance. :D

Ultimately my edition ran perfectly fine. Perhaps a bit too fine for a first timer. (oh yeah, the little blip where I put BJSC IIIV in the semi final voting videos :drama: )

I think it's me. :heehee:

I didn't wake up earlier just to do that, I am 3 hours ahead, so the deadline was 2pm, so I managed to do everything in time perfectly without rushing.

15 minutes to go! :cheer:
Erm, last time I checked it wasn't Sunday?
15 minutes to go! :cheer:

No no...

15 minutes to go! :cheer:

Do you mean until the final? That's 7pm on SUNDAY! :P

Hosting is a LOT of effort and ultimately I don't think anybody realises just how much until you do it, it consumes a hell of a lot of your spare/online time from the moment you open the confirmation thread until the moment you announce the final scoreboard. It's all very well people nitpicking minor things, like insignificant punctuation mistakes I made the last time I hosted a few months ago but I consider that it went very smoothly if those were the only issues with my hosting! It's definitely fun and nice to see how the voting is going and getting to reveal it but it's also a lot of work which doesn't seem to go appreciated by a lot of people (likewise when I hosted NMTBJ's and came under fire for something or other). I can definitely empathise with Martyn.

What is IIIV? 35? LOL
The voting time was longer than usual so there was no reason for people to miss the deadline. And yeah, 11AM is a weird time but that doesn't change the fact that it has been that deadline since the voting opened. And I don't see why the host should have to send out reminders. It should be optional, but for it to be a "condition" is a bit ridiculous. It shouldn't be the host's job to remind people to vote...
