Isn't she released the same week as The Wanted? That's a pretty poor release strategy IMO. The Wanted will crush her.

Of course they will, there's five of them.

:kink:

Sorry.

Back on topic, I think people really backing "Moves Like Jagger" for no. 1 would have shat themselves if they heard that a big Transatlantic artist had brought their release forward to today. Thankfully for them, it's B.o.B rather than Rihanna

SO. It appears The Wanted have brought the release date for 'Lightning' forward a week! So Cher will hopefully get her second number 1.

It appears they've brought it forward two weeks. Lana has apparently moved back to that week as well (16 Oct).

Cher is still released in competition with Sean Paul/Alexis Jordan and Bruno Mars. She'll probably be able to beat both fairly easily though (Bruno may even be ineligible if they release it here the same way they did in the USA).

So yes, Cher does have a good chance of getting a second #1 - who'd have thunk it?

-x-

Unrelated: Adele has re-overtaken Kasabian and Ed Sheeran already on the albums feed (although Ed still has two versions top 10). She's currently #4 behind James Morrison, You Me At Six and Ben Howard - although the latter two also have a second version top 10 so she's probably 5th and some distance away from 4th when combining Ed, YM@6 and Ben.

Who is Ben Howard actually? He seems to have come out of nowhere to middling success.

Edited by Bré

I absolutely love Ben Howard in a guy with a guitar kinda way. He's a tiny bit like Damien Rice but probably not as adventurous.
I saw an advert for Ben Howard's album the other day. I was told it was 'the album I've been waiting for' which was odd since I still have no idea who he his.
I've had the deluxe edition on pre-order for weeks now, I'm really looking forward to it for some reason. Keep Your Head Up has been one of my most played singles of late, it's really grown on me.
But who actually is he? Where did he come from? What's his backstory? The first I'd heard of him was when 'The Wolves' was suddenly in the iTunes top 100 a few weeks ago.

104. Jessie J - Who You Are

Wow. The video was only released two days ago!!

soooo... "We Found Love" out Wed at midnight? why can't she have waited until Sunday?!

Source for this? (It'd be hilarious if this stops Maroon 5 from getting to #1 but I can't see it happening)

That could've thrown a spanner in the works for Maroon 5 and made things interesting if they did it at the start of the week.

I knew Rihanna would end up releasing this week. Maroon 5 just aren't destined to get there are they?

its good Rihanna is released this week, its really what should be done if there was countless fake versions in the chart. I can see this doing a 'Where Dem Girls At' for this week at least, it will undoubtedly get to number 1 on Itunes though, see

Edited by C.W

I hope Rihanna hasn't messed this up with a Wednesday release. We'll have to see how well it does on iTunes from the beginning. It is the best week she could have released on a Wednesday, though. Moves Like Jagger shouldn't be too difficult to beat (although if Rihanna does beat them, they are the unluckiest song ever!)
I knew Rihanna would end up releasing this week. Maroon 5 just aren't destined to get there are they?

Rihanna is going to have a very tough time shifting the 85-90-odd thousand she'll need to shift M5 in three days of sales. M5 are still safe for #1 I think.

Is this Wednesday midnight release actually confirmed?

Maroon 5 will be extremely hard to beat, they're almost certainly heading into their best sales week to date I reckon. Unless the sales of every single other song have plummetted.

Best sales week! Well, fair play to them, then, no idea how they've been able to sustain that this long, though. Rihanna'll probably end up stalling at #2 then. :(

ayee, she confirmed it on facebook/twitter!

Well, it's been a while since Rihanna had one of those #2s she's famous for. Both Only Girl (In The World) and What's My Name? threatened to be #2s but climbed to #1. Maybe the same will happen here but another cosmic rule of Rihanna is the 'strictly one #1 per year' policy (in place since 2007) which will probably deny it the top spot :kink:

And they're heading for their best sales week (possibly - this is just a guess but it seems fairly likely to me at least) due to being used on SCD and X Factor, if it weren't for that it could well have been beaten by Rihanna anyway.

ayee, she confirmed it on facebook/twitter!

Ah, that's good enough confirmation. 'Wednesday midnight' is ambiguous so I hope that means just as it becomes Wednesday so it has 4 days instead of 3. I think it's more likely it means just as it becomes Thursday though which would only give it 3 days.

Ideally of course they'll change their mind and release it right now to give it maximum selling time.

I dunno, this Rihanna track could potentially shift big numbers this week.
I dunno, this Rihanna track could potentially shift big numbers this week.

If it had a full week and/or Maroon 5 didn't have a massive boost at the start of the week then she'd have a shot of #1.

You're supposed to be a fan of MLJ and yet you have less faith in it than me, the most adamant hater of it on BuzzJack
